It was REALLY busy on a Saturday afternoon--we were lucky to snag a table while the kids were at a birthday party next door. The food was ok--I've had other menu items there that I like better. Wishing I had snagged dessert and coffee instead!

Waffled between 1 and 2 stars - didn't hate the place but the 1 star description of 'Not good'…read morereally captures my experience so I'm going with it. On the upside - found free parking, the restaurant is large and seeming clean, and the 'ambiance', as is often noted by reviewers, is bright and cheerful. Our food, such as it was, came quickly. On the downside - my wife and I were at the end of a 7 or so customer line, which moved fairly well. When it was our turn, however, with no one behind us - well, the 2 cashiers who 'take your order' just stopped doing that. No eye contact - one turned away to get a drink for a customer (OK got that) and the other just... turned away. That's it - she just turned her back on us and gazed off towards the kitchen as if we didn't exist. Ouch. It took a bit of a wait, then three 'Hello?' (Hello?? HELLO??) before she sullenly turned and took our order. A bad start. I ordered the Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwich - yum, right? - and my wife ordered the Turkey Avocado sandwich. Chips available? Nope. Soda? Well we have some lemonade. Fine. (Well, not really. The lemonade - from a can, not made by Tatte - had plenty of lemon. What it didn't have was much if any sweetener. Yikes) Where to sit? Well good luck. On this hot day more than half the indoor seats were taken by solo 'diners' sipping on water while browsing on laptops - the other had actual customers. Outside we went. Guess Tatte wants that Starbucks you-don't-have-to-eat-just-take-all-the-seats vibe. Our sandwiches arrived and things went more downhill. In their defense I now see the picture of the 'Short Rib Grilled Cheese' sandwich on the web site is accurate - it looks like a car accident (check it out). The barely grilled bread contained LOTS AND LOTS of beet-horseradish relish - what it didn't contain was much short rib (maybe a tablespoon spread thinly) and if you could see or taste any cheese you're doing better than I did. It was pretty much a beet-horseradish relish sandwich - I ate about half before bailing. My wife's sandwich looked a bit better - hey there's some turkey! - but she said it was flavorless. Guess we could have headed into the laptop restaurant for salt but we were too lazy. Quite confused by the (non-laptop) crowd that frequents this place, mostly 'women who lunch' who seemed quite happy, but after browsing the reviews I think you may like this place if you get some coffee and a pastry. I'll never find out.

Really nice coffee & sandwiches here, I got the cardomom latte and it's one of the best in the area…read moreso far. The sandwiches are pretty big you can probably share one between two people especially if you want to get a dessert. Beef egg & cheese sandwich - my husband got this one and it's a nice breakfast sandwich it has really nice spices in it which make it different from other breakfast sandwich places. Kafta sandwich - this was perfect for lunch the flavors are really amazing. The baked desserts were hit or miss I'll come back to try some more. I wasn't the biggest fan of the flour used. It was pretty busy on the weekend, but we still managed to find parking and a table. People work on their laptops there so the turn over is slower. The inside is a bit cramped, I did have a little anxiety because there's really no space between you and the person next to you and there's just a small path to walk around. Parking is around back of the building, it has signs up that it's parking for that building only. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Definitely coming back to explore more of the drink menu. Was bummed I couldn't order the matcha I wanted when I went because they didn't have any strawberry or mango.

Cute, minimalistic, and cozy cafe! It's at the Bethesda metro station, two escalator trips right…read moreabove the station underground. The lattes here are sweeter than savory but delicious, topped with thick whipped cream... I think it is homemade whipped cream, but whatever they do, they definitely aced it very well. - Habibi latte: very scrumptious! It is a must-get, although it's a seasonal drink, so it may not always be available...alas! Pretty sweet and almost like eating some Dubai chocolate as you drink it... worth the adventure! - The Bear Necessities: I was very impressed with this latte. I had low expectations, as most cafes can't perfect the dark art of latte for every latte drink on the menu, especially the seasonal drinks... But girl, I was proven wrong and I enjoyed this drink so much! It came with thick whipped cream topped with one graham cracker bear and crumbled graham crackers... The flavors were cinnamon and honey and reminded me of cinnamon crunch cereal in some ways, but of course, it wasn't too sweet though! I was tempted to order another one... The sandwiches (1 roast beef and 1 grilled turkey) were just average if you ask me to compare these with other sandwich specialty shops... next time, I'd try something else! Overall, no complaints as I'm impressed with the coffee options, especially the seasonal drinks! Service was good and quick. The employee behind the counter was super friendly and very accommodating to ensure she got our orders right. Plenty of seating on a Saturday late morning which was surprising. Lots of seating at the outdoor patio as well! Very spacious.

Great for a post-(long) run meal before I hop on the metro back to DC! The lattes are on the sweet side but delicious, thick, creamy, and very innovative--worth it. The food? Not so much, but still decent. I tried the following: - Habibi latte (hot with oat milk) - delicious!! Definitely a must-get. It was quite sweet but really reminded me of Dubai chocolate. Really amazing how they nailed down the flavors. Perfect for chocolate lovers and very unique and innovative. Presentation was also excellent, with a generous amount of whipped cream. - The bear necessities - equally delicious latte and really cute presentation too, with a graham bear cracker on top! I'm not a big fan of cinnamon-flavored drinks, but this one was more subtle. It was so thick and richly flavored that the cinnamon wasn't overpowering for me. I was very impressed. - Roast beef sandwich - meh okay. It was supposed to come with ciabatta bread (which I think would've tasted way better), but apparently, there was none that day, so I got it with sourdough bread. - Turkey sandwich - I got it served hot with sourdough bread, and my partner and I enjoyed this one more than the roast beef sandwich. The roasted red peppers were a nice addition to the sandwich. The accompanying salad with the sandwiches was fine, nothing special. Service was good and quick. Plenty of seating on a Saturday late morning, and the outdoor patio was cute and spacious.

Also everytime I've went the wifi sucked or did not work at all. Which is a huge bummer but I digress... Large array of breads, cakes, and drinks. Some of the breads I ordered were a bit dry and not crazy. But still cute and worth the vibes. They have new branding for their drinks - their milk tea was pretty good. This is one of the little Cafe near by the hotel we stayed when we went to Maryland recently…read more The place is pretty cute, bright and airy. Some seatings were comfy (the ones in the back) and the others was a bit hard. Most of the pastries are in the middle with sweet ones on one side and savoys on the other. The price was really reasonable. I saw so many savoy ones I would love to try if I ever visit at BF time. I saw they have Cronut (Croissant and Donut in one). I had had Cronut in Vegas (at the Paris Hotel), but the ones here looked a little different so I wanted to try. Mistake. It was extremely greasy. The oil soaked through the paper plate and I had to squeeze the pieces I cut with napkins to get as much oil out as possible. I would give it a 2 star, it would have been good if not so oily. The egg tarts on the other hand deserved a 5 star. Love it. The latte tasted fine, but it took them a while to make it (almost 10 mins) and served in the normal paper cup, I was hoping for a nice latte art since it took so long. Overall it is a wonderful place to sit around and enjoy some quiet time, just don't get the cronut unless they cut down on the oil...
