He replaced a skylight in a historic building in Hartford's South End for us. We had a couple roofers try to repair and a contractor try to patch the leaky skylight with tar but it continued to leak. We had difficulty finding someone to replace it until we came across CJ. He is licensed, insured (needed this for our HOA) and certified by the skylight manufacturer. CJ came out the next day to assess, provided a quote and was there the following day to replace. His fee was very fair and work absolutely flawless. He was neat and super professional. Friendly and articulate. I really liked that he showed us before and after pictures from on top of the roof and inside as well. This guy is an absolute gem if you have a leaky skylight. I would have also had him do a second tank for for my MIL's apartment but he wasn't available because he was attending a national plumbing conference. ( I like that he continues to keep himself educated about what is going on in his field.) Since I had to go with someone else, he told me exactly what to ask for and what to expect to pay including a part that would extend the life of my new hot water tank. The company I went with initially didn't want me to add that part to the sale but I insisted. This year when he came to fix an issue with that tank which was still under warranty, not only did he deal with the warranty people which I really appreciated, I was also able to see first hand how that part the he suggested had save my tank from potential damage by collecting small metal fragments that could have ended up in the actual tank. He adds this standard on any installation of this kind of tank. To me that shows the honesty and integrity he works with. There is no doubt in my mind that he takes pride in the work he does. You can see it on his instagram page. I've learned quite a lot about plumbing do's and don'ts from it.

The movers removed the feet and bottom wooden piece, without asking, then walked away without putting it back together. Colin came, took the feet and wood, rebuilt the broken feet, removed wood glue from many years past and rebuilt the cabinet. Once the feet were cleaned up and reattached the bottom wood piece, he came back and reattached everything to the china cabinet. It is now more solid than it had been in over fifty years. This piece has been in our family for three generations and I am so thrilled to have it back in its full beauty again. We hired DRM Home Improvement to do several jobs for us. Wild critters had infiltrated one of our units. Rob Michanczyk & his crew did a superb job replacing sheetrock, the ceiling, the damaged wood, and to finish up: the painting. In addition the cleanup was perfect. Usually with condo owners, there can be complaints BUT not with DRM Home Improvement. There was praise from all the Board members and the owner & tenant of the unit that was affected. Considering the amount of work done & the excellent cleanup, the cost was reasonable & comparable to & sometimes less expensive than the competitors. In addition to the previous job, we hired DRM to replace 8 roofs. Again, the work done was excellent, the cleanup was superlative, and the cost was within our budget. The work is always done within the specified time. This month I hired Rob & DRM to install a new vanity cabinet & sink for me. They picked up the vanity at the store, brought it to my condo, up 3 flights of stairs, installed it perfectly, cleaned up, and discarded the old vanity for me. The plumber they sent came the same day & completed the installation efficiently. You can be sure if you hire DRM for your personal or business projects, you will be satisfied. All involved are experienced, knowledgeable, courteous and professional. In my opinion, support your local businesses, you will be happy you did.

Mark slowly walked us through the whole process- what types of wood we could choose, coming to our house to do an initial look (free), and then setting up delivery AND installation of wood. The entire process was hands-free for my family. His installers were QUICK (two days!), friendly, and most importantly CLEAN (they left almost no sign they were there!). All the old stuff hauled away, AND they were able to move the big pieces of furniture around while installing! We had one other quote before going to South Broad, and I can say their price was extremely competitive (especially considering they are willing to move furniture).

The words that come to mind when I think of South Broad Paint & Home Center are...just don't. We…read morebegan our renovation in late April and were told it would take between 3 and 4 weeks. Now at the end of Week 9, we are finally able to begin using the kitchen. Our renovation consisted of a new floor, painting of the cabinets and walls, a new countertop and sink, dishwasher instillation, and instillation for 4 new (pre-finished) cabinets. In total, there were approximately 10 days over those 9 weeks when work was actually being done. Yes, you read that correctly. 9 Weeks, 10 days of work...that's 53 days of absolutely nothing! The rest of the time was spent tracking down the so called 'contractor' to find out who was coming to do what and when. After making an $8k payment, we were told the work would begin the following Monday. When Monday came and went without even so much as a phone call, we called to see what the issue was. We were told we were supposed to call when the wallpaper was taken down (we agreed up front to take it down on our end). If this were the only communication issue throughout the project, I would said say it was just a misunderstanding however, this was just the tip of the iceberg! The sub-contractor finally came, and they took up the old tile and laid the new. After a couple of days without a call or email, we had to reach out to the contractor again on next steps. This was the common theme throughout the entire renovation. We had to follow up each and every time with the contractor to get anything done. We also had to advise each of the sub-contractors on what they had to do as they arrived, they were not briefed before they got there. When the carpenter came to install the dishwasher (new to the space), he told us that when the countertops were put on, we'd never be able to get the dishwasher out. The reason for this being that the contractor never told the tile sub-contractor to take out the existing subfloor. Instead, they laid a new one over it raising the floor more than an inch! We were told that we'd have to raise the height of the cabinet to avoid having to take the countertop off down the line if the dishwasher needed a repair. This was something that could have been completely avoided had the contractor advised his team correctly. The contractor then tried to charge us approximately $400 for this work. Nearing the end of the project, it was evident that the ceiling had not been painted. We called, and the contractor said he'd call the painter to 'have him put another coat on'. When the painter arrived, he asked what was needed so we explained (as usual). He told us that the contractor never told him to paint the ceiling!' Every step of the way was nothing but a headache and it was obvious that we were 'small potatoes' for this contractor. The lack of communication and continuing empty promises made this process an absolutely nightmare. I would recommend this company only if you like the idea of being your own foreman!

Most recently, they have also installed a pergola for us as well. We have recommended them to our neighbors and 2 of our neighbors used their services and have been absolutely thrilled with their service and durability. We can drive through the neighborhood and obviously notice who didn't use Cornerstone because their fences are coming apart and panels are failing.
