DISAPPAPPOINTMENT!!!! The ready to eat food that you help yourself was not appealing . It looked like it sat there for a few hours , reeking away . I went around 5:30 /6pm and it was a peak time and it was about to close down at peak time .??? The staff was hurriedly putting away equipment and replacing the leftovers into trays. It looked like they were hell bent to get the hell out of there . Myself and the other shoppers were aghast ... were they evacuating to escape food poisoning ??? This was reflected in the empty barbecue shop.It was devoid of char Siu,, Bbq pork Siu yuk , roasted pork and , soya chicken which were all gone . These are the Go To for take out and it was empty ??!!! There was plenty of repacked food in trays that were leftovers from the Barbecue shop and food bar . I guess it was not getting enough turnover as they prepped too much . The pricing was minimal discount of 5o cents to $1, not much of a bargain for leftover food . To reiterate as it was supper time I came to get some ready to eat food A disappointment . Next time I will go to Kent's kitchen , Supermarket 88 , Cheung Le market, Donald's Market or Walmart instead . I find this a pattern in other T&T locations as well . I may just as well also stop going to T&T altogether and also shop my groceries at the above mentioned locations as well . read more

hot damn, the power of social media is something else. in a pinch for dinner, we decided to pop into t&t for some inspiration and made a beeline for the deli. as luck would have it, papa crispy chicken was scheduled to be ready at 5:00 pm. i figured, why not wait? fifteen minutes later, there was already a line forming behind me. then, about seven minutes before 5:00 pm, a staff member dropped the bomb: only the first three people in line would get a chicken. we looked around and counted to see who would get it. the anticipation was palpable as we watched a staff member box up the chicken behind the deli counter. more hopeful customers joined the queue, only to be met with disappointment. i could have probably turned around and sold my soon-to-be prize for $24, lol. finally, at 5:06 pm, the moment arrived. the chicken came in a bright yellow box with two tiny containers of seasoning--maybe paprika, and the other a mix of salt, pepper, and yum yum sauce. they had a plastic container under the chicken, in the box, to avoid the grease from seeping on to the box. this fried chicken looked like it had been basking in the oil a bit longer than usual, but the extra crunchiness was actually pretty tasty (even an hour later) and the garlic marinade was on point. a whole fried chicken for just $12, it was a steal and totally worth the wait. read more

Ambience I refer specifically to the Marine Drive store . No complaint about service or produce. But serious concern about condition of family toilet. Washroom facilities While it is good that they offer washrooms facilities, it should be maintain in a hygienic fashion. On December 25th, there was on the toilet floor what look like blood. Overall it does not look like it is regularly clean. Makes you wonder if this poor level of standard applies to other areas ? I hope the kitchen and food preparation area has a better hygiene standard. read more

I love going to T & T Market. It's one of my go-to places for groceries. This location has been here a while, so I know the isles like the back of my hand. When I'm in a pinch for dinner, the cooked food section and the heat 'n' serve section are a life saver. The fruits and vegetables are well maintained. Prices are competitive. The canned goods areas are also well maintained. Everything is lined up neatly. They carry a lot of imported items which is GREAT when using mom's secret recipes for special dishes. I find a lot of my hard-to-find ingredients at T&T. The battle for parking can be stressful on certain days (weekends) and at certain times (just before dinner). be warned though ... in the express check-out where it states a certain # of items allowed only ... i.e. 6 items ... they will seriously make you wait while they serve others behind you or line up else where if you're over by even ONE item!! read more

Ah, T&T. The staple of many an Asian across Canada. Parking is available all over the strip mall lot, but watch for people who can't park. This location definitely feels more beaten up than many of the other others - I think it's the age of the strip mall in general. It's got the old school Chinatown atmosphere that is sadly disappearing from the city. The stuff here isn't always the cheapest, but once in a while you get good deals on staples such as rice. And of course, if you want ethnic goodies such as Schweppes Cream Soda (Hong Kong), you can get them here. I can't imagine how much thinner I'd be without a place like this. read more

I live around this area, and this is probably one of my favorite places to go and buy groceries. Back in the day this location used to be a Safeway, and then T & T came to my neighborhood, and everytime I go in there, I can somehow figure out what to cook for that night. T & T's are the one stop places for everything you need in regards to Chinese cooking, from the produce and fruit, to the abundance of meats and seafood, to all the soy sauce and other sauces needed to whip up the next chinese meal. The prices, compared to if your going to a seperate Chinese produce store, and butcher are a little higher, but in this day and age, your paying for convience, and cleanliness! On the weekends, you can pratically have yourself a meal at lunch time here with all the free samples from the booths promoting certain products from frozen dumplings, certain cakes, instant noodles, new juices, fish paste, etc., it's a riot here. You can actually save money here too, by going online and looking at their flyer as to what is the deal for the upcoming week. I find that this T & T, some things are cheaper than others, and it is only this store (in store specials) from certain meats, to fruits. After 7 PM, they start clearing out their cooked/prepared food, sushi, and bakery items. You can get yourself a pretty cheap dinner out of this. This place has a sushi bar, a pretty big bakery, a cooked food isle (your rice and 3 or more sides for $4.99 and up), and another side with dim sum style cooked food. The parking lot is another issue, and it depends on when you decide to go shopping. It can be an utter mad house on the weekends, and the spots are narrow, so to save yourself the potential door ding, park deep in the lot, and not near the place. read more

I used to live near this T&T and would shop here quite often. I find in terms of pricing, their produce and meat are cheaper overall compared to the near by Walmart, Superstore and Safeway. Lots of Asian imports like Japanese Cookies and Korean Snacks etc. As well they recently renovated giving the place a cleaner and more welcoming look to it. In terms of where they put their products, its the same as any other supermarket. Sometimes can be quite frustrating trying to find an item or find someone to ask. Parking is great on weekday but in terms of weekend, parking can sometimes be hard to find eventhough it has a big parking lot. read more

Found me some non-fried Taiwanese noodles with flavour packets with NO MSG! They have the occasional snacks you won't find anywhere else such as spicy crab chips and spicy chicken by Lay's! Yes, I do indulge in MSG due to my obsession with new chip flavours. I also got the Sun ramen noodles found in the frozen aisle. It's the best ramen that comes closest to the restaurants on Robson and Denman. I don't usually buy the bakery products. Somehow it's gotten worse since Superstore took over. And I don't buy the produce as I'm sure most of it is heavy sprayed and they lack organic produce. Even if they have organic produce I question it if it comes from China (look it up.) Aside from the very few non-chemical laden food I get here it's a sinful indulgence when I buy wild flavored Kit Kats, Taro chips and other crazy snacks. read more

Go bargain hunting. This T&T always has tons of great deals near the entrance and scattered around the store - I find that there's usually a cheaper variation of whatever you are looking for. They have a large selection of live seafood as well as meats - if can get pretty busy! Produce section is extensive with lots of exotic fruits (as well as the "normal"). Pretty much this is an all-stop shop for all things related to Asian groceries. It's nice since everyone speaks English and Chinese and are usually pretty helpful. read more

I will admit before coming to T & T someone wished me luck on my trip and I really thought I would need it as I am a very impatient shopper. I am happy to admit I was wrong in thinking that! Despite being sick and less tolerant that usual I genuinely enjoyed my shop at T&T!!! When I walked in the door to my surprise I was not assaulted by the smell of seafood and raw meat and I was pleasantly distracted by their ready to eat goodies and got sucked into buying some Garlic and Black pepper Edemame and 2 different dessert buns, I have since eaten them all and they were great! Also their bakery section was amazing, such unique and delicious looking cakes, tarts and goodies! Their ethnic food is really well priced however their Western food was pretty overpriced so it definitely not a 1 stop shop for a girl like me! I bought a few random items, really cheap noodles and sauces and can`t wait to try them out. The only downsides are there is a lot of boxes and carts in the aisles from staff stocking the shelf and me being the distracted clutz that I am walked into a few! Also they have a sign saying if you have your own bags hand them over and they would be happy to bag your purchase...by this they mean they would be happy to aggressively and randomly throw it in the bag...it didn`t all fit and they didn`t offer me another bag, wtf. No biggy though, I just had to dump everything out and strategically bag it and fortunately made it all fit! If it wasn`t for that last 2 points they would have got 5 stars, but I can`t excuse having to rebag my items and not being offered an additional bag, even if it would have cost me a nickel! We always go here for general Asian grocery shopping! They have great selection of basic groceries including veggies and meats.

I guess this is what you would call an all-purpose asian supermarket. They have a bakery, a butchery section (chicken, beef, pork etc.) as well as a seafood section with tanks with live shrimp, lobsters, crabs etc. They have a wide selection of most asian products, from soy sauce, to rice to frozen dim sum. The quality of the produce is pretty good as well. They also have a deli where you can buy pre-made "meals" from dim sum to cold cuts to salad rolls. They even have sushi though I wasn't a fan when I tried it. Overall it's a pretty decent place to get your asian products though I do prefer smaller asian "cornerstore" markets where the quality is close and the pricing is better. read more

Great place to shop for Asian produce and products. Prices are usually a bit higher than the smaller grocery stores for regular priced items but they have a lot more variety than the smaller stores. Parking can be a bit crazy at certain times of the day. Customer service is dependent on who is serving you. Some of the staff would pack the cooked food containers a bit fuller than others. Also, I tried to buy some deli meat today and the price was different at the cash register. The cashier called her supervisor to see if it could be fixed and the supervisor refused to honour the posted price. It seems like they were waiting for people to not check the price of the items being scanned and to pay double the posted price :(! I checked the barcodes when I buy my food to make sure it matches. The lesson here is to make sure to check the prices of your grocery items when paying. When I used to work as a cashier in a big box grocery company, the customer is suppose to get the item at the posted price and then the price tag for that item gets changed after the customer catches that mistake. That was years ago and I guess Asian supermarkets do not follow that practice. read more

I am just wondering what with the inconsistency on services especially the fresh cooked foods attended by older ladies. Some of them seem to be selective as today I went and bought a two items on white rice . Man the potion were pretty little (Beancurd's & fried fish) . This is seem to be as most of the time the server are pretty good giving the potions. I spoke to few of my office coworkers and some of them told me that too - potions inconsistency especially if the customers are non Chinese. I am a Chinese descent but not born in China so I was considered a "Foreigner " to them eve though I can speak and listen few Chinese dialect. Please be consistent that's all we're asking in order to have us repeat customers as there are lots of competitors out there who want our business. read more

Also, their food is pretty darn good and lastly they are surrounded with other asian stores that also offers other services like basic medical stores such as Dentistry, Optometrist, a health store, and a pharmacy store in the front part of the T&T. There's also restaurants, bubble tea cafe, one or 2 media stores, a bank, a couple of grocery stores, a seafood store, etc. around the surrounding area. It's kinda like a open strip mall. The only problem is that it isn't exactly in a prime location and most of the stores here are either hidden or isn't exactly selling or providing a type of service that most people normally required or needed. read more

After my grumbling about Safeway prices my neighbour took me on an adventure to T&T Supermarket and boy oh boy, it was worth it!! I went on a weekend and the amount of FREE SAMPLES in the store was outrageous. I danced around the place sampling steamed pork buns, egg custard tarts, soda drinks, and about 4 other things before I even looked at the items I could buy. Win! The bakery section of this place is crazy. Elaborate cakes, Asian inspired treats, great baguettes and crusty breads...I got a 6-packs of the egg custard tarts that were so rich and delicious that one per person on its own made a perfectly satisfying dessert. No ice cream needed. It worked out to be about $1 per tart, so a pretty good bargain. I was also STOKED with the fresh seafood section. Tanks everywhere of live seafood - clams, mussels, oyster, lobster, crabs, fish, snails, sea urchins, you name it, they've got it!I scooped myself a huge bag of mussels that I later steamed open with white wine, garlic and parsley for a pretty impressive looking appetizer that took me 10 minutes to make and cost about $3 per head. And it was fresh - super, super, fresh..... I didn't buy much of the "normal" grocery items but the fruit and veg looked great and the prices in general seemed more reasonable than the larger supermarket chains. I scored a box of Mi Goreng instant noodles (30 packets) for $7. Total time warp to my university days, but a good buy nonetheless! The speciality Asian items here are out of this world so I would certainly recommend heading here if you want an asian-inspired meal, but I also look forward to seeing if this supermarket is a good choice for my general grocery shopping as well. Omg this place is just great. Sushi and sashimi (though I didn't try anything) is really cheap here. They looked fresh to me, but I had already had Japanese food planned for all my meals that day and I didn't really want boxed sushi while on "vacation". The dessert selection is A-MAZING. They have mango pudding for only 2 dollars! I also tried a taro tapioca dessert and it was OK; I don't have much experience with taro. The mango pudding was really good. The fruit tarts and amazingly priced and the cakes all looked delicious. I had to force the BF to put back some things because I knew we couldn't finish all of that before returning to the States and customs might not let us bring anything back that contains dairy (last time, we were searched and inspected by US Border Patrol because we had a red bean donut!). Japanese candy and snacks are also good priced.. I wish there was T&T in Seattle instead of Uwajimaya! read more

I visit this location often as it's close to my in-laws. The store always seems to be busy which is a testament to its wide array of produce, baked goods, meats, etc. Common fruits and vegetables (apples, oranges, etc.) are often cheaper than you'd find at Safeway, but you get a much wider range of produce here, from dragon fruit and mangosteens to durian. Speciality produce, like on-choy and gai-lan, are always fresh and well-priced. The bakery counter offers beautifully decorated cakes, but you can also buy warm Portuguese egg tarts (my fave). All sorts of dim sum, roasted meats, and steamed buns can also be purchased in the deli area. read more

Typical items, not always the cheapest, I find they do not clean the veggies as nice as they do at the corner green grocer. Stay away from their frozen fish fillets, most people that mistakenly bought them on sale finds that once it's defrosted, the fish had a funny fishy smell. whenever i'm up & down the 2nd narrows bridge, i'll make an effort to shop here, such an easy exit off 1st Ave. It's got a neighbourhood feel to this one, obviously has a lot less traffic than Richmond or Metrotown. Has partial covered parking too. Surprisingly a big store here, much more spacious than Yaohan's, esp. in the back where the seafood is. come to think of it, i don't ever recall free food samples in yaohan, but definitely here ;) read more

T&T has got to have the worst customer service ever. Last year I complained about the washroom not having hot water. I went to customer service counter and stated my complaint. The lady just said "so what"? Frustrated, I left the supermarket. I went to T&T yesterday because it was near my route. I asked customer service if they have any prosciutto. Customer service lady doesn't have a clue what prosciutto is. I spent 5 minutes trying to explain to her that it is a type of ham. Her English obviously isn't that good. Interesting Asian vegetables. Latest find: beech mushrooms (shimeji mushrooms). They're so cute and work in any stirfry or miso soup. Their bakery is also nice and they have yogurt cheese cake--nice lower fat version of the real thing! However, this T&T has been cited for safe food issues when their deli temperatures are not at regulation standards. And their turnover isn't as high for some products leading me to get eggs that expire in 2-3 weeks instead of 4. read more

T&T kicks some serious ass for a grocery store. The only-seven-minute walk there kicks some ass too. I usually go weekday evenings so I have yet to experience the free-sample free-for-all that's been described here. It's busy but not crowded or irritating. They often have a huge variety of ready-to-go meals at the entrance and they are a good deal. The mapo-tofu is especially tasty. Excellent bakery as well. Yum. They have all kinds of cakes for different occasions - good to keep in mind for when you need a birthday cake on the fly! Also, try the mango coconut tapioca cup. It is outrageously yummy. I'm always a little hesitant in T&T's veg and fruit section, based on the sight of the unnaturally huge carrots they have. They just look so genetically engineered or 'enhanced' that it makes me wonder about how the rest of the produce is grown. For better fresh produce I usually head up to Donald's on Hastings. Huge, fresh selection of seafood and meats as well as almost every Asian cooking necessity imaginable, including woks and rice cookers! read more

BAD TASTING LIVE SEAFOOD!!! We purchased 5 live lobsters and 2 dozen live oysters at this T & T store in Vancouver yesterday and were very disappointed. The first raw oyster I had seemed to have a musky taste, I thought maybe it was possibly from where they were harvested from, although I've never had this awful taste in a fresh live oyster before... We then started eating the Lobster...there was that same musky flavour, disgusting!!! I'm thinking because all of the tanks circulate the same water, if not changed or cleaned regularly, this taste would be throughout all of their seafood...? We will not be buying there again, even if they are cheaper than anywhere else! read more

I thought I liked T&T until I came here. I usually go to the differently-branded but T&T-run Osaka Supermarket (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/osaka-supermarket-richmond). One of the most important things I go to T&T for is the Pea Shoots (http://nankaisprouts.com) that I can't find at Canadian grocery stores. The ones at this location seemed older than the bag I got at Osaka Supermarket a week ago, and still had a bit of in my fridge. It looked a little bruised and wet a little bit. Perhaps of the way they were squishily piled up, perhaps because they WERE old... I should have acted on my hesitation, but I bought a bag, since I wasn't going to get to another T&T soon. We didn't get full-on food poisoning, but our stomachs got sore. A large section of the store was meats and seafood. None of it seemed enticing, though. Not just because I had recently heard of a T&T/Seafood experience (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/t-and-t-supermarket-vancouver-2#hrid:rGSvh0Kr3Rjb45_0uHOSUA) but all those creatures piled into those little aquariums were more saddening than appetizing. The square loaves of nicely squishy sliced bread were good as usual. I was happy to find Multigrain and 60% Whole Wheat options here, not just the White I see at Osaka. Vietnamese Sandwiches and Garlic Sausage Buns were just as good as the Osaka ones. Since this location is HUGE, I was happy to find some items that I don't see at Osaka, like the Korean flavoured Black Vinegar for drinking. Yummm... I will stick to the packaged imported cool stuff and the bakery if I come here again. And maybe the hardy vegetables. read more
