Mary has an extraordinary eye for discovering special goods from all over the world, including things you might otherwise find only in France. I was so pleased to see some of my favorite designers still here from twelve years ago, before I moved away. Candy, cards, socks, blankets, candles, tea towels, wallets, totes, beautiful things to hang and admire, and whimsical--or not-so-whimsical--spiritual and manifestation treasures. It was my first time visiting and the owner was super friendly and told me a bit about the store and the items for sale. Eighty-five percent of the items are made by her or local artists. Primitive style items can be pricey, but I found most items here reasonable. It's located right near the corner of Arcade Ave and Route 44, so it can be tough pulling in and out. My home isn't decorated in primitive decor, but I'd definitely stop in if I were looking for gifts.

As soon as I walked in, I wondered why it had taken me so long to check it out. Located in an old warehouse, CMI doesn't have that warehouse feel. A good size room, filled with hand-braided rugs and baskets, the place is cheerful and inspiring. Even though I wasn't looking to buy anything, I just couldn't resist purchasing a Pawtucket rug (made from scraps of fabric) and a basket (perfect for storing those odds and ends). The staff were friendly and helped with moving rugs, giving the background to how they are made, and helping to roll them up for take away. While I was there during a huge sale, it seems that even the normal prices are pretty reasonable, as it was, I got a full area rug for less money that my IKEA rug cost me. And it is more beautiful, better made, and local. S This place has been there for 20 years, and is still a hidden gem.

Their selection is unmatched--Rancho Gordo beans (a cult favorite and nearly impossible to find in stores), beautifully designed Kinto mugs from Japan in every size and color, locally milled flours from Maine, and even Rhode Island classics like Wright's Dairy coffee milk. They have it ALL! Every corner of the shop is thoughtfully curated with the best culinary goods, and the variety is second to none. There's no place on Hope Street I enjoy being *whisked away into more! There's also a section in the back that has children's clothing and other items, and what looked like a sewing station for personalization of any number of items or even tailoring. This will become one of my go-to spots for picking up a lovely gift for a friend or even for myself! Only thing is, no parking means circling Wayland Square or paying for one of the nearby lots.

TERRIBLE delivery service! Bob's Furniture charges $150 for a White Glove experience, just for the…read moredelivery guys to ruin the entire experience for you. The first delivery, the item was damaged. After returning it, I was scheduled for the next delivery date which was 5 days after the original date. When the next delivery date came around, the delivery guys argued with my elderly mother that the item was "too heavy" to bring up the stairs, following he is not going to "break his back" doing so. The best I was offered was another delivery date, with a different team, 10 days later! I had to fight a hard fight to get next day delivery at a special time because I had no one to receive the furniture for me and I had to be at work. I waited 2 hours and nobody showed up! After the 2 1/2 hour mark, I got a call stating the delivery team is outside of my house, but I had already left. I was 2 hours late for work waiting for them to show up and all they had to say was they were delayed. Understanding, delays happen, however, that should have been communicated to me so we can plan accordingly. They shouldn't have just showed up 2 1/2 hours late, especially after the experience I had the pervious day. I've never had an experience as horrible as this over furniture. After going back and forth with delivery team and store associates, dealing with 2 managers and a supervisor, spending three hours on the phone about the delivery driver arguing with my mom while I was at work, then the next day, the furniture showing up 2 1/2 hours late, making me 2 hours late to work... I ended up canceling my order. All that for nothing. And the associates at store level... there's nothing they can do.

I ordered a split king bed online and paid for their "white glove" delivery with set up. I selected…read moremy delivery date and time and received a confirmation in my email that my order had been processed and my delivery was scheduled. The morning of my delivery window came and went, so I called their customer service line to find out what was going on. The customer service rep told me that I owed an additional $42 and that my order was "on hold" until payment was processed. When I asked how this could have happened, because I ordered it online and they were the ones who calculated the total, so the issue was with their system, I was told "yeah, online ordering can be glitchy" I then asked the customer service rep why no one notified me that my order was on hold, especially since they had charged my credit card and sent me an email confirmation that was order was set and I was told that no one monitors that system so there would be no way to notify me unless I called in. What a stupid process and dumb answer to receive. I then had to call back and speak with someone from sales to pay the additional amount and they were able to schedule my pickup for the following Tuesday (they don't deliver on Sunday or Monday for some reason) I then went to read the online reviews and became so concerned because so many people have had problems with this company and everyone had a story of a delivery gone wrong or some other issue. Luckily, I received the bed, with all the parts, and the delivery folks set it up quickly and got on their way. I don't imagine that I'll ever shop here again, the whole experience was frustrating and it's evident that they don't care about their customers.
