Saw this on Reddit first and then came to try the rabbit, the beef, and the horse. The beef was very flavorful as was the rabbit. The horse was cooked perfectly so the meat wasn't as hard to eat. The service was decent quick and the interior of the restaurant was like an older cave.

One of my favorite meals while in Brussels, Belgium. Like many reviewers have written -- yes it is a little touristy due to its prime location in Grand Place. 'T Kelderke translates into "the small cellar," which is precisely where we dined -- downstairs, in a rustic and cozy brick-walled environment adorned with string lights. There is outdoor seating available as well, perfect for people-watching in the beautiful main plaza. We visited on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but after about 15 minutes, we were able to snag a reserved table that didn't show up. Score! All the employees we encountered were friendly and communicative. Since the space is small, you'll likely share conversations with neighbors. We started with Grimbergen beers. Comes in two sizes, so I picked the smaller glass, which was enough for me. A complimentary bread basket was served and it was SO GOOD. Thick, with texture, but at the same time, so soft and moist. I chose the VOL AU VENT for my entree, which is chicken and mushrooms in a cream sauce and a flakey pastry. Excellent. It also came with a side of frites. My travel buddy got the MUSSELS, which is another popular item, which I noticed other tables ordered, too.

TOURIST TRAP. I should have known better since it was located directly in the square. But the reviews weren't bad, they had a few dishes we would want to try, and we were hungry and tired so we decided to chance it and I regret that we did. We got there on a Friday at around 7 and it was pretty empty. Red flag but that's my fault for not walking out then and there. We ordered the boulets (meatballs) and rabbit stew and you could tell they weren't made fresh. The food came out within 5 minutes. The meatballs were so basic. I could have made a better one myself. The rabbit was dry and I didn't care for the sauce. They come with your choice of fries (which are from frozen) and stoemp (mashed potatoes. The best part was probably the stoemp and the little side salad it came with. We wanted to use the Yelp check-in deal for a free beer, which our waitress said we could. But of course when the bill came, they tried to charge us for it. I will say that the interior of the restaurant does look pretty cool - kind of like an old Belgian monastery or something. But other than that, not much going for them.

Was in Brussels for some meetings and one of the group dinners was scheduled here. The group consisted of about 30 people so, unfortunately, we were seated upstairs instead of downstairs in the main restaurant. Everyone had preselected starters, mains and dessert choices some weeks prior. The service particularly on the starters was a little brusque as I had a salad placed in front of me and asked if that was the starter or whether everyone had a salad. Apparently the salad was one of the starter choices so my salad was removed and my correct starter of croquettes was placed. A simple question of which starter did you order would have saved a lot of hassle. Other than this issue, mains (salmon or beef) were served without issue and drinks were kept refilled. Quality of the food was very good and the ambiance, although not the same as the main dining room was acceptable with views of the Grand Place out the windows. Looking forward to a future visit to experience the main dining room!

Truly a tourist trap. Good place to stop if you want to people watch and grab a drink. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The staff is the best aspect of the restaurant. Now... to the Resturant T' Kelderke .. there's nothing special about the place. The waffles are frozen, kept in a deep freezer next to the bathroom. There was some bread next to the bathroom as well, I couldn't tell if the bread was going out to customers or left over/returned by customers. You'll have to choose for yourself. The food includes mussels, croquettes, meatballs, stake tartare, etc. We only ordered the waffles; felt like they were a safe choice even though the waffles weren't fresh. All the other food, served to other customers, appeared overcooked and/or covered in sauce. I don't trust things a I can't see, I.e. food covered in

Excellent mussels and service, wonderful ambiance. Perhaps a tourist experience, but we love it.

This place is right in Grand Place, it serves Belgian food and they have very good beer. I had the mussels and fries, its Belgian staple so i had to do it. It was nice to eat something that wasn't high in fat or greasy. My boss had the rabbit stew and apparently he loves rabbit. It is in a very touristy area so be ready to pay touristy prices.

It was not hard to find T Kelderke at the Grand Place. We went there for one specific reason: to taste the signature dish mussels. Beside the garlic mussels, we also tried the French Onion Soup. The onion soup was surprisingly good, not too salty or creamy. The sour dough bread and the fries were not impressive. Relative to the mussels, the soup was tasty comparing to the meat. It was not pleasant to eat the residual sands in the mussels meat. The Pinot Noir was bad. Don't try it.

Yelp Check-in Offers Alert! A free Beer? At first our waitress said No, but the nice owner reluctantly accepted my check in offers! +0.5 Star "T Kelderke is conveniently located right at the Grand Place. At first I was worried that it is going to be an overpriced touristy experience but ended up it was A-OK. We shared: Scampi Maison (14.90€)Scampis "our special" (with tomatoes and cream) Lapin à la gueuze (23.3€) Stewed Rabbit in Grueuze beer Anguilles au vert(19.5€) Eel in herb sauce We drank: Blanche de Bruges Grimbergen Food was not bad but not memorable. I did enjoy the ambiance, the dark underground cellar feel! I can keep drinking in the dark...

Flemish Beef in onion stew with Stoemp.

First off they have no idea what the yelp check in offer is. One star deducted. I had the Flemish Beef in onion stew with Stoemp. It was very good think American Beef Stew to be honest. I also ordered the fries as additional side. The fries are nothing special I guess I'm used to Belgium fries from NY. I order the waffle with sugar. That's was just ok really bland and they used confectionery sugar. I was thinking it would have caramelized sugar crystals.

We stopped by for dinner last night after reading some of the reviews. We got the Ghent Waterzooi and the mussels in white wine & cream sauce. The Ghent waterzooi was pretty good and worth the money. However, the mussels left much to be desired. You get a hefty amount of mussels as well as a portion of fries. The fries were delicious. The mussels were cooked with a hearty portion of celery. Unfortunately, the white wine & cream sauce was a bit bland and the mussels were highly overcooked. I've definitely had better mussels elsewhere. Oh...and the check-in offer is not honored.

Best home-made bread! Hit or miss depending on what you order. The duck and honey dish was spectacularly tender and the whipped potatoes were delightful. The mussels were old which was really disappointing. The soup was mediocre, not something I'd order next time. It seemed like the things done well were done really well (ducks and bread), but other things average. Would still say it's worth going!! The house made bread is literally out of this world (and I'm usually gluten free).

I just didn't enjoy anything that we ordered. Sadly, it was my least favorite meal that we had in Belgium. Based on all the reviews, I think it's clear that it's not the place per se, but what I was looking for. That being said, I still must be honest. What we ordered: Cheddar Croquettes (2 for 14 Euros): Just ok and this was one of the things that I felt was overpriced Carpaccio of Smoked Beef with White Truffle Oil (18 Euros): Again, just ok Meatloaf with "Jack Pepper" sauce (26 Euros): "Jack Pepper" means something different in Brussels. It was basically a peppercorn gravy. I wasn't a fan, but Jim G. enjoyed it. With this, we had frites and a small side salad. I know many people recommend that Flemish Beef Stew, but we already had that at Fin de Siecle, and I couldn't imagine that any place would top it, so we didn't get it here. Ultimately, this place isn't for me, but I seem to be in the minority.

He reminded us of a combination of Neil Fak (from The Bear) and Lazlow (from What We Do in the Shadows). He was coordinating the line, seating, and gave outstanding recommendations, as well as praise, when we picked our wine. We were quoted about 45 minutes to wait, as they don't take reservations. A two-top opened up inside and Julian was concerned that it would be too hot, so he made me go inside to check first. Thankfully, it was right by the open area leading to outside, so we took it and were seated in about 20 minutes, rather than 45. The place was packed the entire time we were there; its reputation certainly precedes it. Good energy and beautifully decorated with stunning art inside. Carbonades a la Biere (beef stew; 19.45 Euros) is their speciality and was delicious! So reasonably priced for the flavor and te size of the dish! After Julian mentioned that the lamb is the best dish on the menu, there was no question that I was ordering it. Jarret d'Agneau Roti (Roasted Lamb Shank; 27.35 Euros) was so very good! Full of Rosemary and so tender! As Julian was running by, I quickly asked him: "Tiramisu or Tarte Tatin?" No hesitation, he replied, "Tarte Tatin." I wasn't sure if he actually put the order in for us or not, but then it arrived at our table and it was delicious! Pear Tarte (8.65 Euros) with a side of ice cream.
