I will give them 5 stars , I had a serious alignment issue with my steering wheel (LS460L) being about 45 degrees off center to the right . They did a good job on the alignment,(fixed the steering problem) showed me some other problems I wasn't aware of and reflashed my steering electronics for $100.00 + tax which is fair. My only regret is that I didn't find them earlier, I have been driving lexus for a long time and would never trust the dealer to touch my cars. My other mechanic who I have been going too for 10+ years is also good, but he doesn't necessarily specialize in lexus, he works on all makes and models. I was tired of feeling like I was being ripped off at the car dealership whenever I take my car for service/maintenance. Hubby recommended TLex as he knows a guy who works there. I called to make an appointment for the same day. I was quoted $132 for brake inspection and oil change. They were honest about the difference in cost between regular and synthetic oil for my oil change and how much mileage my car would get between oil changes for the two options. In the end, my brakes needed servicing so the total cost came to just over $200. I felt this was a reasonable price compared to what I get charged at the dealership. Honest and trustworthy. Also good quality work Price is quite ok but not the cheapest one around but as we know, we get what we pay for. They use oem parts so that's one of the reason on the price. Aftermarket parts are cheaper so ask for options for getting aftermarket ones. They will give their honest opinion so you can decide. I did my brakes, timing belt and oil changes here. They have a number of mechanics so as long as you booked, you will be fine. Labor can sometimes be in the high side when they changed my brakes as it seized. My fault for not doing annual brake service to prevent this. read more

I just changed a thermostat in my son's Lexus ct200h and the car was still over heating with no interior heat. I googled Lexus mechanics and found the highly rated TLex. I brought the car in for a routine diagnosis. It was far from routine. They eliminated the obvious areas, thermostat, coolant, hoses...and left more expensive repairs to look into. I was impressed with the willingness to search for the cause and the ability to rely on a lot of sources, staff, owner, computer databases. The whole process took almost 3 hours. In the end, they gave me an idea as possible things to try and the costs involved. They left the decision if I wanted to do the work or to leave it to them...no pressure tactics here. It is well worth your time to get your first diagnosis from TLex. Before you ever go to a dealer, go here first. I don't think they adjust the price if it takes 30 minutes or 3 hours to diagnose. I found this shop while looking for auto repair for my dad's Lexus. He went to T-Lex for the first time a few years back and has been satisfied ever since. My first experience with T-Lex was after visiting another recommended shop and finding my experience was less than optimal. A messy shop, random guesses at problems, and poor customer service led me away from this other shop. I called my dad and asked if he could see if Basil could fit me in after I left the first shop. Within 2 hours Basil confirmed my front brakes were warped and replaced both the pads and rotors at a very reasonable price. He and his staff are incredibly detailed and take pride in offering the most honest and well-priced service for any vehicle. I have been bringing my Acura to T-Lex for all maintenance ever since. His sign/name would lead you to believe he only deals with Toyota and Lexus, however the majority of his clients have various Japanese brands and he's even started doing North American cars as well. I would not take a car anywhere else for service but to Basil and his guys. His shop is conveniently located on Woodbine, north of Steeles. It is very easily accessible from the 404 and 407. He is not a "cheap mechanic" but his rates are much better than any dealer and he will only do work that needs to be done. Basil the owner is a really nice man. I have an older Lexus, and he always tries to find me the most affordable solutions. He takes the time to explain the issues thoroughly, and gives you options. They are very knowledgeable with Toyota and Lexus cars, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for repairs outside the dealership. My cigarette lighter got pulled out by somebody who shipped my car and so I could not use it to charge my GPS. My local friend recommended his mechanic to me, but the guy said that most likely I needed to get the whole part changed (estimated about $100+ to get a used part). But my gut tells me to get a second opinion. And thanks to people who have left good reviews for T-Lex that I found it to get my problem solved in just a 15 minute visit, without buying any parts. T-Lex THOROUGHLY explained to me the cause of the problem, fixed it, and TAUGHT me how not to cause similar problem in the future. I am very impressed. I've been using them for the last few years. Good work and most importantly honest. One time, my wife had her oil changed and they came out to inform her that they had to replace the bracket for something and my wife was concerned that they were going to jack up the prices.... They charged her $2 for the part. That's it! Another time, they kept track of a credit that I had on my account for $50 even though it had been 4 months since I last saw them. Finally, their mechanics have been stable for years, it is a sign of a well run shop. read more

I was having some issues with my car and friends couldn't figure out what it was. My husband was away on a business trip and I was terrified to deal with car mechanics on my own. I did it once when we lived in Montreal and the garage I took my car to had some pretty rude employees who have made me feel like I was stupid for not knowing how to fix the car myself. I have been going to T-Lex for over 7 years. He has always been honest and fair with me. I know my way around cars (change my own oil, brakes, thermo housing...) so it's not like he can really pull a fast one on me. My first ever experience with him he explained to me what most shops would do to repair the issue (replacing a whole group of parts for $300+), then he explained what he could do (keep the parts that were good and just replace the 2 that were the real issue for $175). I think the big thing with T-Lex is that he loves what he does and that's helping people with their cars. He specializes in Japanese cars (Toyotas and Lexus') but I still bring in my Korean made car to him because I know he won't try to rip me off. Parking is a bit of a pain there because the "auto mall" is shared with a few other garages, but it's well worth it knowing the work will be done right. I actually have sent friends there and they claim it's a bit pricey...but I always hear repair shop horror stories from the same friends after they went with the "lower" price. They deceive you that they are cheaper than others, but they charge you double the price with lots of excuses. T-Lex pretends he is cheaper than the dealership, but you would end up paying more or the same. I have been going to the T-Lex for over 7 years for my Lexus and Acura . T-Lex was not the cheapest, but sometimes better than the dealership. Today I have replaced the rear Struts/shocks and they quoted me for 3 hours at $90/hr ($270). Loui (the mechanic) insisted the job will take the full 3 hours. I stayed at the shop and the job took exactly 1.5 hours. Basil came up with a lot of excuses saying the so-called "mechanics booking hour" is double or sometimes triple the real hour! He charged me double ($180/hr) for the service, but I will never go to T-Lex again. Enough is enough. No more lying to me and no more $ for T-Lex. Avoid T-Lex if you can. Find other honest mechanics. save the hassle of getting ripped off. read more

After getting a very high quote for doing the front struts on a 2004 Prius from the Dealership, my Stepfather asked me to recommend a more reasonably priced alternative. I did some searching online, and found T-Lex. Their quote came in about two thirds of what the dealership quoted with the same OEM parts, or about half with KYB struts. So, he scheduled a date for the work and took the car in. There was a slight issue with the part version, so the wait was slightly longer than originally predicted. However, they resolved the issue quickly, got the new parts, and finished the job at the quoted price. In the end, we were very impressed with their work, and will be a repeat customer. I booked an appointment at Tlex a week in advance... to only drop off my truck for 8 hours and they only thing they did in that time was break my key assembly.. The updates i received from them throughout the day were only given to me because i kept calling and asking to see if they had looked at it yet. i have an older vehicle and have been trying to find a trustworthy mechanic for awhile. Basil treats each of his customers as family. He assesses the issues, gives you the alternatives, always watching out for cost, especially in light of the age and value of the vehicle. I took my vehicle in for an oil leak and a very noisy exhaust system, and asked for my car back for the following day, if it was at all possible. Basil tried sourcing the exhaust, personally visiting a number of suppliers (with my old part in hand) and worked on my car until 8pm that same day to ensure it would be ready for the following day. The oil leak was narrowed down and was also corrected, and the vehicle was ready by noon (earlier than expected) the next day. The price I paid was easily 60%-70% less than what Acura would have charged me. Basil and T-Lex are highly recommended.
