On a positive note, both the taproom and restrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would recommend this brewery as a pleasant stop for a locally crafted drink. Fun fact: Alamosa, located in Colorado's San Luis Valley, is known for experiencing some of the coldest nighttime temperatures in the state due to it's location in the valley and unique geography.

Pueblo, CO - The Secret Gem Revealed…read more Hands down, the hidden treasure of Pueblo sits quietly on the west side of town -- Reservoir Brewing. I strolled in after a long day of convention chatter downtown, feeling like a city-slicker cowboy wandering into an old ghost town. I pulled up a seat at the bar, surrounded by locals swapping stories and laughs. Behind the bar was the owner himself, ready to give me the lowdown on the beers. He suggested their Revolution beer but warned me it didn't come out quite like usual. so they added mango. Being the adventurous type, I said, "Why not?" First sip... home run! Easily my favorite of the night. One beer turned into a few, and before I knew it, I was closing the place down, talking with locals and the owner like we'd known each other for years. It was so good I came back the very next day to finish the beer list and check out the food. And let me tell you; Lord have mercy..... the food matched the beer in greatness. Perfect beer food. I started with the spicy habanero cheese curds (fiery but addictive) and then went in for the kill: The Rachel Fully Loaded with turkey, pastrami, and bacon on marbled rye, with chips on the side. That sandwich didn't stand a chance. Every crumb vanished. Naturally, I enjoyed a flight and stocked up with a couple of growlers to go. (Flip Flamingo Rule #1: Always keep empty growlers in the car, just in case.) The owners also mentioned they're moving to a bigger location closer to the reservoir, hopefully in September. When we arrived, we were initially told dogs weren't allowed. I explained that our dog is extremely well-behaved and simply lays quietly under the table. The hostess said that was fine and seated us at a table right next to the outdoor area. After we sat down, three different employees approached us asking whether our dog was a service animal, even though another staff member had already approved her being there. By that point, we felt singled out and uncomfortable. The final employee was particularly rude and suggested we could tie "it" to a tree if we wanted to eat there. Referring to our dog as "it" and suggesting we leave her tied outside was shocking and unnecessary. Rather than continue feeling unwelcome, we decided to order a pizza to go. We had planned to stay for drinks, appetizers, and dinner, but instead we ate in our car. The prosciutto pizza was decent, but it was much saltier than we expected. At that point, we were just hungry and wanted to leave. What was most disappointing wasn't the dog policy itself--businesses are absolutely entitled to set their own policies. It was the inconsistent communication and the way we were treated after being told it was okay to stay. Instead, the experience left us feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
