As soon as I saw the tagline said a Taiwanese Tea House, I was in! A Taiwanese friend introduced me to milk tea years ago, so I assumed I'd find some authentic flavors at Ding Tea. And yelpers, I did! My first morning in town, I headed straight for Ding Tea after breakfast and ordered a taro milk tea, prepared hot, with medium sweetness. I allowed the young man working the register to suggest a topping for me (I think he said the classic crystal something or nother). My tea was everything I wanted! The only thing I'd change is ordering low sweetness next time; the medium was about at my sweet limit (but I don't like things too sugary). I will absolutely patronize this establishment again before I leave and on all future visits to Jonesboro. This is clearly a family owned small business. The young children were there, and the son took my order while dad guided him. Although the drink I ordered is typically prepared cold, the dad/owner made it hot for me and stepped back the sweetness.

All the food was good and fresh and hot. The chicken had a good flavor in a tasty sauce. The vegetables were also excellent. The rice was a good quantity in its separate compartment. The Chicken Hibachi was served in a plastic container with everything separate (I had told them I'd be boxing it up). The sushi was also good - the raw Spicy Salmon roll was on a par with any sushi I've had in Jonesboro. I'm not a sushi expert but I know when it's good! Overall I think you get good food, but the prices are a bit high. You can go to other oriental food places in Jonesboro and get a buffet all-you-can-eat, or takeout by the pound, and pay considerably less. Nevertheless I will be back to Umai, not only because it's close and convenient but because I'd like to try other menu items. Lastly - and this is not the restaurant's fault - the taxes are killing me on food! My food cost came to $22.53 but the total bill with taxes was $25.77. That's $3.24 or 14.38% in taxes! I sure hope we in Jonesboro are going to get our money's worth for this outrageous amount of taxes on food - but it's probably a forlorn hope.

For my first try I ordered the most unauthetic bubble tea flavor - vanilla bubble tea smoothie with strawberry pearls. However, I will say it was delicious and I became an instant fan. On my next trip I went the authetic route and tried a banana bubble tea smoothie with Tapioca. Again delicious! Please note that this location is in the WolfChase Galleria mall right next to the kids playground and train boarding area. I will also mention the fact that the staff are super friendly and helpful. They sell Smoothies or milk teas, Sno Cones, Hot tea and Macarons. If you never tried Bubble Tea, you need to. It is my new favorite drink :)
