The ambience is casual but nice and it's always quiet. The best thing about this place is the PRICE!! Everything is super inexpensive but amazing and authentic southern Chinese cuisine. So wanting to grab lunch close by, this was only 4 minutes away, located in downtown Jonesboro. There is no dine in or even entering the restaurant if you want to place an order. The guy that took my order was on the phone taking order and mines at the same time! I had to repeat what I ordered. I got the lamb dumpling and the seafood shaomai and Takoyaki. I asked how long it will take when my order still has not come out. His 8 to 15 minutes became 30 min in the heat with no seatings or shade. I was about to walk off when I realized that if the food comes out, I'll have less then 20 minutes to eat it while driving back to work. I actually got a sunburn on my shoulders from standing out there. I read good reviews of this place but after trying it, I can say that I enjoyed the Takoyaki more then the lamb dumpling or seafood shaomai. The lamb dumpling wrapper didn't taste fresh made. Kinds of taste like the frozen one you get to reheat in the microwave for a quick snack. If you don't live in a big city and had many options to choose from for good dumplings and to compare to, this place is ok. I would recommend instead of barricading the front entrance with a long table, out of courtesy for your customer to at least stand inside to wait for their take out. The one star off is just because they don't quite have the business sorted out yet. The food and price is full 5-star. Our party averaged about $10 apiece and we were easily satisfied. The food was so good that we wanted more, but it was real easy to loose track of how much we were ordering and were afraid we'd run up a huge tab if we didn't take it easy. We had various soup, buns, dumplings, the "hand grab pancake" - it was all excellent. The highlight for me was the takoyaki. I have never been anywhere that offered takoyaki and thought I'd have to go to Osaka to get some, but here it is in Arkansas! And it was awesome. The only low spot for me was the milk tea - mealy boba and lifeless drink. Wasn't horrible, but it wasn't the delicious joyful affair I expect bubble tea to be. Edit: On the subject of tea, the complimentary tea was very nice. Tasty, too. Seemed like oolong rather than the green or Lipton black usually served around here. The first time we came here at 8pm on a Friday night we were told the store was closed. The next day we came in around 1-2pm and they locked the doors when we started getting food, and we were the only people in the place. (3 adults, one 11 yr old) Apparently they are not equipped to handle typical restaurant traffic. I'd suggest they should change their business model to be a reservation-only, subscribe to OpenTable to handle the reservations for a handful of individuals or small groups, and bump the prices up a bit. Good food. I have been here several times. Disposable plastics spoons now and plastic cups for soup...very unappealing and not appreciated for customers. The service is somewhat quirky but since it is a small restaurant starring out...ok. But they are cheapening the restaurant and what they are offering. I don't want to eat soup with a plastic teaspoon. If you want customers beyond the starving student crowd you are going to have to upgrade a little. But I won't knock stars here for now. Well the food is delicious here BUT I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in their decision to change to all disposable dinnerware. We have eaten here since they opened and I loved their REAL, reusable plates, glasses etc and they had even just added metal ramekins and chopsticks!! Alas, today I was informed that now that they deliver, they have switched over EVERYTHING TO DISPOSABLE. This is a terrible decision that lowers the value of a sit down restaurant. This is my go to place in Jonesboro! I get an order of beef dumplings and chicken ramen and I am always filled and have leftover ramen for the next day. It is also an amazing place if you aren't wanting a big meal, too; when I'm not too hungry I usually get an order of dumplings (3) and a pop and I am good for a few hours. The place itself is very cute. I do have to say that they need new booths, but overall their atmosphere is very nice! My favorite part is that the owner is always very attentive and plays some good music in there. Lastly, I don't know if this will help anyone, but if your meal is under $5 you will need cash; if it's over $5 you can use a card. read more

People are nice. That's where the positives end. Chicken Ramen was overcooked, thin, and flavorless. Dumplings where tiny, overcooked, and flavorless. The sauce that came with the dumplings was very nice though. Boba tea was also good. But the ramen is very lacking in all areas except presentation. I will try it again in the future because I am a connesuir of ramen but at it's current standing I could buy a better package ramen at the Asian food market. read more

Recently tried City Wok out for the first time. It was excellent. The prices are phenomenal and the service was good. Wanted to try it after it was featured in a local magazine. Article stated it is a husband/wife team that owns it. He is American and she is of Chinese dissent. The menu is simple and consists of items she grew up on and helped her family cook. She has had no formal culinary training so I am sure she is learning a lot along the way. The place is small and cozy. No fanfare, no frills, just good authentic Chinese fare at reasonable prices. I really hope they are successful since they offer items you just can't get anywhere else in town. One last thing...really thought the stainless steel chopsticks were a nice touch! Excellent place! Very affordable and very good quality food. It was a bit hard to find because it's inside of a metal construction thing currently, but their sign is on top and they are still open at the listed address. I had the egg dumpling noodle soup, which was my favorite. The broth was very good as well as the noodles and the dumplings. I also had the pork buns and pork dumplings. The dumplings were more flavorful in my opinion and my favorite of the two, and was also served with a delicious dipping sauce. For dessert, I tried the egg sweet buns, which were surprisingly delicious! Now I'm someone who is used to desserts being painfully sweet as we usually are in America, but I loved them. They had a very light sweetness, like a less sweet sugar cookie inside of a dumpling. The whole meal plus two drinks ran about 10 bucks which was very affordable for the quality. I have given this establishment multiple tries, however I will not be returning anymore. Over my multiple visits I have witnessed multiple things that give me pause, the most notable being two instances of what I do not consider sanitary restaurant practices. Once, I dined at this restaurant with a dog sitting next to me on the booth. There was no indication that this was a service dog. As a dog owner this did not bother me too much, however I was very put off when the man at the front of the restaurant brought out a separate dish for the dog to eat food (from the restaurant) in right next to me on the booth. I also witnessed the man in the front clean underneath his nails behind the counter and then bring us our food (touching our plates) without washing his hands. I won't be trying again. read more

This place had decent food the few times I have been there, but on the third time I tried to come eat here I showed up at 8:15 and the host/waiter looked very discouraged that we were showing up 45 minuets until close. As we walked in he had just seated a table, and one table was eating. I went to the counter to order and was hastily told that they were out of rib ramen and that if we were going to order (at 8:15) we would be cutting it close because they closed at 9. Having been on a date as well as paid for a babysitter I asked him what he would prefer I do and he told me I had to make a to go order. We watched as he sat the table in front of us, so it was clear that they didn't want my buisness. They only get a two because the food was okay, but you can get the same thing from across the street at the Chinese restaurant.
