Unfortunately, the situation quickly got worse. Their tow truck ended up getting stuck as well, which forced them to call in a second truck. By the time everything was over, the damage to our property was significant. Our driveway was torn up, access to our farm equipment was impacted, our garage area was left in poor condition, and several trees were damaged. What's even more concerning is how this was handled afterward. When I called to report the damage and request that it be addressed, management refused to take my call. After multiple attempts, my number was blocked. I had to use a different phone just to get through, and even then, management would not speak directly with me and stated they would not take responsibility. This level of service and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Mistakes can happen, but refusing to communicate or make things right is a serious issue. But anyway... It had been...a week. My younger son's car has been in the shop so he has been borrowing his brother's car while his brother is out of the country. His brother's car is a finicky starter and had needed jumped a couple of times during the week. Needless to say, my son and I were over the car troubles completely. Well, he got the car started and went to fill it up, then of course it wouldn't start again. We tried everything we could think of until we called for a tow. When Cory responded, he diagnosed the problem before even putting it on the flatbed. When I contacted the company to retrieve it, they demanded $750 in impound fees. I paid the full amount they requested. Despite accepting my payment, they refused to release the vehicle, citing a title issue. What they failed to disclose before accepting my money was that they would not release the car regardless of payment. This is fundamentally deceptive. They had two honest options -- accept payment and release the vehicle, or refuse payment upfront. Instead they chose a third option that benefited only them -- they took my money and kept the car. This practice may violate Washington State consumer protection laws and UTC tow company regulations. If you are dealing with this company, I strongly recommend: * Getting everything in writing before paying anything * Asking explicitly whether they will release your vehicle before handing over any money * Contacting the Washington UTC at utc.wa.gov if you experience similar treatment I wish someone had warned me. My hope was that they would bring me a new tire and send me on my way, but unfortunately, they pay for a replacement or tow and since no shops were open, I accepted the tow. The ETA was 90 minutes, I wasn't jazzed about that, but what could you do? In that time, I decided to look up Union Towing to find out what I was in store for. I have to admit, I got nervous quick. Many reviews were not positive and several called out the owner as the problem. That said, some reviews were positive, and the positive reviews called out how nice the driver was. So not really having alternatives, I waited. The driver literally showed up at the 90-minute mark. He introduced himself and was very kind. In my experience, it's usually 20-30 minutes to get hooked and booked, but this driver had my car secure in about 5 minutes. Even better once on the road, he hustled, I've been towed with the driver about 5-10 miles under the posted speed, but y driver maintained the limit. I'll give these guys 5 stars based on the driver, but here are two simple things that truly would have made this 5 star. I would have loved to have heard from the driver saying he was on his way. It also would have been great to get confirmation from Union advising they accepted the contract and would be on time. Everything worked out, but it was an uncomfortable 2 hours in wait.
