Absolute scam- they will charge you minimum 20 pesos more just because they can, and pretend their 'English is so bad' when you question why you are paying more than their clearly published prices. The claim with us was that their order of smaller tortillas didn't come in so they had to serve us the larger version (which was not mentioned upon ordering, of course). Please note- the tortillas used for our tacos were smaller than typical tacos and we have consumed A LOT of tacos in Mexico. Bottom line- don't dine here and encourage scamming Americans. read more

I was looking forward to this place and I was Soo disappointed!!! It's right by the corner on the downtown street and was loud, which was fine. I was disappointed with the food. The menu was limited which is acceptable for the street food joint like this but the lacked quality. The guac was frozen and not freshly made. I eat only chicken, shrimp and none of the other meat. There was no shrimp choice and just one type of chicken taco. (Simple and gringa) but the seasoning was same. The taco was very dry with no sauce. It only had onions and coriander. Finally we were charged with some random "kitchen service fee" for a street food joint and then the manager asked for tips, which we thought was the service fees ah!! Best Al Pastor tacos I had in the North hotel zone were from here. Cut right off the rotating spit in front of you and some small pineapple cubes added in. As with most of the good taco spots you wont need to add any other sauces as the meat shines through. Beef tacos were also good as well. At night it can get really busy here and there may be a wait to get in. read more

Came here on a weekend trip to Cancun! I can only hope that this little taco corner is raking in the dough! Located in the heart of club district, these inexpensive and authentic tacos were the best that we had tried the whole weekend. Come here for a quick bite before hitting the clubs or for the unavoidable post club munchies. You can get a fresh taco, with handmade tortillas, for just about $2 USD. Try everything, because why not?! You could try everything on the menu and still not break the bank. (It's not a very large menu anyways.) My favorites were the pastor tacos and beef tacos. The pastor is cooked on the rotisserie right in front of your eyes, which is pretty cool. The boyfriend still raves about la gringa until this day (basically a larger taco with a flour tortilla and cheese). Second day of our trip in Cancun and we found this little gem. Best tacos we've had so far. Pastor tacos are the way to go, but we tried the steak and chicken, and everything is good. They only take cash, and I don't think they open until about 6pm. Wish they served beer, but the tacos are good enough you should visit anyways. I say plain because there are places like Torchy's Tacos in Austin which are difference, so they're not really comparable. Anyway, we came here two nights in a row because it was authentic, amazing, and delicious. It's also the perfect place to go before, during, after your night downtown, as it's located right in the center, close to everything. There are many open tables outside with self seating. Ta-ki-to is located right next to Senior Frogs. This is as close to street food as you can get in the Hotel Zone. The pastor here is absolutely amazing!! Try the pastor tacos or pastor & beef burrito. We took the bus back to this area just for Ta-ki-to after we tried it the night before. Delicious food & friendly service. Highly recommend this place! Unfortunately the food around the touristic area of Cancun is very American. But Ta-Ki-To saved trip!! This was the closest to authentic Mexican food in the popular Hotel Zone (Zona Hotelera). The tacos were delicious!! I'm very petite but I ended up eating 8 tacos from how delicious they were. The only downside is that they only open in the evenings/late nights therefore you will have to walk through all the party loud people to get to them but it is well worth it, specially since Authentic Mexican food is NOT easy to find around this area. Ta-ki-to is the closest thing you'll find to street food at the Hotel Zone! The tacos are served with meat piping hot as you watch the meat spin on the standing grill. We tried the pastor and the bistec which were both delicious! Pastor tacos are the cheapest option in Cancun - everywhere we went more pastor tacos were offered at a lower price than any other meats. At Ta-ki-to it was no different - five pastor tacos are 70 pesos whereas 4 bistec tacos are 105 pesos. I still recommend getting both meats to try though since the difference of 35 pesos is really less than $2 USD and you'll realize after eating street tacos in Mexico that street tacos in America are sooo upcharged. We even tried the added queso option (+15 pesos) to our tacos which made them even more filling! Tried the monster quesadilla as well which is really only a cheese quesadilla but still quite delicious because I think they use a different type of cheese. We visited Ta-ki-to twice during our short 4 day stay in Cancun due to its great convenience, price, and quality! They do add tip (propina) to the bill. They only open in the evening and they are close to all the clubs and souvenir shops of the Hotel Zone. read more
