24 hour truck stop with a Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, & a Popeyes (one of the few in this area). Stays pretty busy. The Popeyes is pretty good. The biscuits are the buttery best.

nicely kept up and extremely clean corridor hallways leading to the showers down one aisle

okay other than the Country Pride visiting the TA at Porter after almost 5 years.. why you could clearly see the old travelport has been remodeled very impressive but you can also see what it used to be back where the broker offices are as that is kind of dividing line for the remodel with the exception of the floor lol.. all around good old steel City there used to be tons and tons of broke her outfits out here but still quite a bit of flatbed freight cuz it still steel but it's not what it used to be in at a day but none the less it's still there. the old Mawson & Mawson Dearborn the ones that have been there back when I have my own trucks in mid 00s still here brokering away... so now we come to the actual look it's still a huge old travelport now ta with loads of parking want to look at some of the pictures I shall post and see how far back this parking lot goes it can handle a lot of trucks compared to your pilot's in other places..the facility itself inside is extremely clean since they remodeled it you can see they take a lot of pride in it the can was nice and clean and stocked. the floors look like they've been done quite often and mopped the laundry room was extremely impressive all the machine bank's we're all working and there's many here and the laundry room was very very clean.. the TV lounge very clean vacuum smell good not like a homeless shelter nice furniture in there everything really really impressive fitness center looks like they take pride in that one I've noticed some t/a are not..I already mentioned my great experience in the restaurant the Popeyes in Taco Bell was jammed I can see why the restaurant loses a lot of business people come and see that Popeyes in Taco Bell in all the booths.. travelers just gravitate right towards it. the travel stores well-stocked like some of the Petro they have one of those little mini gift shops at the entrance at I call Cracker Barrel lite LOL. the pool table and there's a lot of sitting areas here now to they have little benches along the wall because old travelport's had long corridored hallways..also when I was there they were pothole patch in some of the junk calls nice job ta is really unfortunately I don't understand why people the restaurant closes on Saturday and Sunday but I guess it is what it is but this is a very impressive old travelport brought up to today's standards and very very nice shape. extremely cordial employees great attitudes and I will still need to see back where the broker offices were the dividing line of where they didn't remodel and you could still see the classic travelport paneling everywhere that used dot the whole center.. so in closing I'll just simply say I was very impressed Ripley Street to hell hole Gary I don't even bother stopping at and down on 65 in the mod it could be touch-and-go I don't really get in the Michigan but once in a blue moon so I don't know how Sawyer is but there's so many different Travel centers ta is within a hour drive of each other it's really nice to see the old one here in Porter has been kept up like it has.. in fact I was quite impressed so much that I definitely won't hesitate more often when I not going to be rolling down towards Indianapolis and got time and don't want to stay and Gary or even Hebron for that matter that I'll just keep that thing in the wind eastbound another 9 1/2 miles like I'm going out towards Michigan and simply cruise on in here..

    It's BP gas

In the early 1980s my brother went to college at the University of Michigan, in the 1990s a girlfriend then a wife in the 2000s from Western Michigan, this truck stop has become a road trip tradition. Compared to other border region truck stops, this one is okay. There are a couple of unhealthy fast food options, plenty of gas station snacks, the usual truck stop gift and sundry options (I don't actually know what sundries are though), so it's not just that the gas is cheaper here than it usually is in Indiana and always cheaper here than in Illinois, it's that there's stuff to look at when you need to stretch your back a little and shake the bleary out with a refueling for the car and a rest room break. Because it's a busy truck stop, the restrooms aren't always clean and are rarely clean smelling. If I could plan my trip better I would refuel further north, but there's something about state borders on medium to longer card trips that make me want to stop for a bit. The last time I came through here, just a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking about a time I came through in 1981, and for nostalgic reasons I asked if they sold postcards and postcard stamps. The cashier said, "I don't think anyone has asked that question this century!"

Guy shows up and says he can't fix it because he doesnt have the component?? seriously?? Charged $410 just for the service call and mechanic didnt even get his hands dirty at all. Honest and reputable vehicular service companies are rare and this certainly IS NOT one of them. If at all possible, find another roadside service company to help you on the road. The mechanic however was courteous, experienced and apologetic for the attitude the owner of the company had concerning the change in the hourly rates and the additional fee the owner demanded the mechanic on the scene add to the invoice. When the owner threatens over the phone to hook your rig over the customers refusal to pay rates other than what was quoted, you realize this is not a company you would ever use again or recommend no matter how good and courteous the mechanic was.

A friend bought a car here, a 20 yr old car with over 200k miles for $4,000. She brought me here to…read moresee if he had a car I would like. That's when I ran into "The Business" from the owner. I did not know my friend paid that totally rip-off cost when she brought me there. Here's my background... Trak Auto for 3 years as management - the parts counter was my baby! Boyfriend went to Lincoln Tech - I did all of his homework (A+ thank you very much!), the law firm for State Farm Insurance as their Jury Trial Paralegal; and finally... My name is Cheri from Cheri Auto Body in Illinois. Let's just assume that I very much know what I am talking about. In 1986 I bought a 1978 Buick Regal for $1,700 - a great deal for the day!! Everyone knows that "all" Regal's have the leaf spring suspension system and once it goes out... just like a dashboard removed and replaced.... it's never the same when you fix it, you will always have an issue with it. So the owner (seeing a woman!) took me around his junk lot and proceeded to put me under his thumb. He tells me that his 1980 Regal (no turbo I might add), with its can spray paint and gloss job, no rear bumper, refusing to open up that hood and very tired interior would cost $3,000. Excuse me? $3,000 for a FORTY YEAR OLD CAR? What is this guy smoking? He tried 2 other cars on me, one had the whole dash empty - no radio, heat, and other controls. He must have forgotten himself as he told me he got it from a kid who had massive engine problems with it - oh sure, I'll take it!! NOT! I politely refused his services, thanked him, and left! Get this!! Ol' Boy comes to my work because he's got another clunker he means to mesmerize me with!! Oh boy, let me bend over!! I've never seen this guy actually work on a car, just his minions. I don't care if the Queen Mum of England, dead and buried for decades, recommends this guy - I wouldn't bother. And to come to my place of business when a simple phone call would do (100% for sure, he has the number!). Use your connections folks for a reputable seller. A few phone calls and I got a mechanic that specializes in high end vehicles (that '79 Stingray was beautiful!). He sold me his personal car (just bought a new one!) for $2,500! Pick up that phone folks!! Don't settle for who is in town! I give this business 1 star (I would have preferred no stars but the system requires at least 1!) for its poor performance at trying to act "all quality," and for not utilizing those things attached to our hands that everyone has.... the phone! Cheri Cheri Auto Body (those folks that restored classic cars into the 90s)
