Contrary to the other reviews, my experience working with this firm was excellent. From a stuck claim to victory in only four months...

I was recommended by Atticus to check out Tabak Law. After reading about them it seemed like a good idea to have them help me with my SSDI/SSI claim, so that's what I did. Everything seemed like it was going great in the beginning then things seemed to feel a bit off. I started getting follow up phone calls from several different assistants on my case. And each one would ask me for info that the last one already asked for. Then I received a call from an assistant that I couldn't even understand most of the time...and I thought the assistant GiGi was bad. He proceeded to tell me that he is calling to double check information that they have for my case so he started reading off my health conditions. And low and behold he names off Diabetes....I stopped him and asked who gave him that condition, it wasn't me. He said its in my records. Well I DID NOT give him or anyone else that condition because I don't suffer from Diabetes. Now mind you this fella was #6 assistant on my case. I was already frustrated with this law firm because of all the assistants I had to talk to and the misinformation they had. When I started my case I was told that Lauren was my lawyer but she never called me and I never had a chance to talk to her either, it was always an assistant. By this time I had gotten denied twice and we were now waiting for a hearing date. When we finally received the date for said hearing and after sending repeated info to them I receive a call from a different attorney in this law firm and his name is Anthony and he's telling me he is my lawyer and he's calling to chat about what to say and not to say in said hearing. I was totally lost and baffled because I had never heard of this attorney. When you hire an attorney you expect to talk to and keep the same attorney for you case. Not with this firm. They keep you guessing and wondering who you will talk to next and what information they will ask for AGAIN!! When we had this hearing Anthony didn't say much at all to the judge, on my case or about me, as my attorney. Before all this crap happened I was gonna let them go but was scared to because I didn't know what it would do to my case. I was struggling mentally because I've never been in this kind of situation where I couldn't work and support myself so I continued. I wish I could go back in time because I don't think they deserve 25% of anything. I feel taken advantage of during this whole case. I also feel that what I had told the judge in this said hearing had a lot to do with finally getting approved on the 3rd go around. So if you feel the urge to hire them PLEASE make sure you know and or get all the information needed to make the right decision! If you are going to have a positive law firm you need to make sure you have one assistant and one attorney for one customer, no more then 2 assistants because it just makes everything confusing and lost!!! Awful. Overtly lied to me and said I could speak with an attorney prior to signing over my VA access. Then they spammed me with mail that had my full SSN and DOB on it and wouldn't stop calling but still refused to let me speak to anyone other than the agent who called each time trying to get me to sign and who could barley communicate in English. For asking 30% of my VA back pay they wouldn't even allow me to ask any questions. What a scam. Ended up getting all the help I needed for free at a VSO and won my case. Started my claim for SSDI with them. The initial application was denied, they submitted the same files for the reconsideration and it was denied. I then asked for a release to go in a different direction and no email, voicemail or texts are being returned. They know I only have a finite timeframe to apply for the next step with is a hearing with a judge!!! Tabak is sabotaging my ability to appeal to the next higher level without them representing me. read more

I recommend to anyone looking for professionalism and good sevice to avoid this law firm like it was the plague. The Lawyer assigned to my case was almost never available, and when he was available, he rushed me off the phone for another client. For over a year, I never spoke to anyone face-to-face and had to do most of the paperwork pertaining to my VA claim. To top it off, I found out that that I was being overcharged for their services. Veterans do not use! stay away! I've have gotten absolutely no where with this "company" in a period of two months. Every time I call they give me the number to their "VA department" (414) 351 4400 either no one picks up or they say they will contact my "case manager" to give me a call. No one ever calls me all I get is a text telling me to call. Every time I try to call to get some kind of progress I end up back at square one and the process repeats. It's like they don't exist. There isn't any yelp account. I normally don't write bad reviews for services but this is another level of fuckery all veterans shouldn't have to go through this. I don't know where to start. I really counted on them. I had Eman as my lawyer then Kayla. I won my case after transfers from Hawaii to California it took over 2 years. They were there for me. Now I call in and email with a simple question. I need help. Turns out Kayla is no longer there, but the receptionist did not inform me so my email sat unanswered until I called back. Okay now I know why. Can someone else answer my simple question? A week of getting salespeople calling me to "start" a claim in which I tell the repeatedly I'm already a client and you have won my case they say there are no records of me ever being a client. No trace of me whatsoever- so much for any follow up help. Now I'm on my own. And the 5 stars are long gone read more

Consider yourself warned. I am a relatively intelligent person. I have a college degree, but when you are ill and dealing with disabilities YES you need help. I started my own claim, so SSI Disability continued contacting me directly throughout the process. Days before Tabak would contact me about anything, SS would have already contacted me directly (and they're backed up) Tabak had my text and email. Tabak would contact me and I'd be "Yeah, I know -SSID already told me" Tabak could never answer a question directly and it was always "I'll check and get back to you" and with SSID contacting me directly, SSID would give me the answer before my own atty. Tabak had outsourced my representation to a 3rd party attorney whom I NEVER had any contact with, and they seemed unable to contact. This was a claim I started on my own and should have completed on my own ...and essentially did. They were paid thousands just so I could say I had legal representation. If you are totally at your wits ends, I guess, but they helped me in NO practical manner. Even after my decision, I had one question and they said "Contact SSI directly" IF they helped me in any fashion I'd like for them to tell me how. Applying for disability is a fairly clear, but dauntingly lengthy process anyway. You are already incapacitated and the Gov is stringent in seemingly finding any reason to reject you. It feels like something you need an attorney for because so much is weighing in the balance, and I suggest you ALWAYS seek legal counsel. But if I heard anyone in my family was talking to Tabak, I'd hang up the phone. ON a positive note, they are polite. I have filed for upgrade to Army discharge over a year ago. My address needed corrected to match VA and nothing showing to track it in myhealthyvet or VA.Gov account. There was definately a language barrier during intake. My case needs to be escalated and resolved it's been 31years of step by step changing Cannabis laws since 1992. I elected Tabak Law to represent me in my disability case that was two years ago, I callied the rep that was assigned to me as I wanted to report any changes to my condition or report any new information. I left numerous messages over the course of 1 year without any response. To be honest with you I don't know why they agreed to represent me because we never had any interaction. I ended up filling the disability claim online. I removed Tabak Law so I could hire a different Law firm To help guide and represent my case. I will attempt to word this in such a way that I don't get sued. Everything I am saying is factual, except when I state the following which is my opinion: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, especially with a company that advertised on FB. Hired this group to help with VA claim. They said that they cared about Vets and even one of my MANY reps claimed to be a marine. Gave them all my info. They would never return my calls. Every few months they would reach out to me with a new rep and I would have to start over. I have emails where they claimed to have filed paperwork, then a year (!) later another rep would tell me that the claim was never filed. Yes TABAK, you lied! Flat out lied and I still have the emails. 2 years of time lost. I lost track of how many times they changed Reps on me, but I have the emails and some really great notes. Long story short, I don't understand why they would waste my time by doing nothing and therefore they made no money, I made no money, I lost money with last time with the VA. ( after a year of no movement on a claim the VA drops it). I don't know if my claim required too much work for the percent they would make and maybe their reps focused on the low hanging fruit of other claims. Maybe they are just cruel pranksters. The last call I got they suddenly were interested in 'helping' me and I informed them that they had cost me money by wasting my time. About 5 minutes after I got off the phone with them they sent me an e-mail telling me that they would no longer represent me. I have requested either a bill or a statement showing that I don't owe them money ( the next lawyer wanted to make sure I wasn't in contract) and Tabak will not give either a bill or a statement. Like they are trying to get revenge on me for calling them out. They can sue me. I'll make it difficult, and they are lazy. In my opinion this group is less than worthless, they are detrimental because they cost people time. Time is money. read more

tried getting ahold of my case worker for over a week only to find out he no longer held that position and no one called to say he was gone. When you call the generic number you get the complete run around. I'm supposed to provide you with 25% if I win my case but you can't even represent your client appropriately. Not a good law firm I signed some paperwork with them but never finished completing the process. I decided to use someone local and called to get a termination letter and that they waive all fees since nothing has been done. They refuse to give me a letter stating this and my current attorney can not help me until they do. Please do not work with Tabak people. Horrible service. I signed a contract with them to represent me for my disability claim. In the following interview while we worked on filing the claim, the representative (the lawyer or the assistant , who did not bother to introduce herself, just hanged up on me in the middle of our conversation. I called her back but she was out of the reach. I called the office and learned from the secretary that Tabak does not want to work with me anymore (because i said that my ex husband currently helps me financially). What kind of "termination of the contract" is it? Rude and unprofessional. I am glad they terminated representing me (by hanging the phone without explanations). Whenever I call they say my case worker was reassigned. They were supposed to help me with my appeal but the deadline is 4 days away and no response from them. I left dozens of voicemail messages and no one calls back. On the final day I will need to go it alone, as other law firms have told me it's too close to the deadline. Boy did I pick the wrong place. I needed Tabak Law to help me move forward on several VA disability claims. They didn't return one call, I was allowed to speak to a lawyer. I asked for updates on my own filings - they wouldn't give me answers They never once called or followed up with me on anything. Went with Tabak to help with my husband's Social Security disability. About a month or so before the hearing Erin, the case manager called and suggested that we withdraw our claim because it was a "hard case to win", the comments that followed told me, without a doubt that his records were not fully reviewed and that they were speculating. They didn't even have hospitalization records; I spend the good portion of a MONTH faxing and emailing records that they should've already had. Erin would consistently call me asking for a phone number to the hospital because "they were leaving messages, but the ROI office was not calling them back" I told Erin MORE THEN ONCE "you cannot call the hospital, you have to email them, they are not required to answer their phones" The hearing date came and of course he was denied! They did not focus on his disability AT ALL! They focused more on his carpel tunnel which IS NOT WHAT HE IS DISABLED FOR! NOW, with the prospects of his insurance benefits running out IN TWO MONTHS, i have to find another way to get income into our home BEFORE WE LOSE EVERYTHING! If your case is easy, then by all means go with Tabak, because it's obvious to me that they only want cases that take the minimal amount of work but will reap the most rewards for them. read more

I gave tabak law 5 stars even though I have not been to court yet.... I needed to hire an attorney for a disability claim I placed back in 2015 and was initially denied then I appealed that and waited another 4-6 months before I got denied a second time. I appealed again and its been over a year of waiting for a court date I decided I could not do this by myself and hired Tabak Law to represent me. I suffer from bipolar 1 and schizophrenia, I really thought I could present my case with medical records and past employment history would be a real easy case from the beginning and never thought it would take this long even after the social security told me that with medical evidence and work history the most I would wait would be 3- 6 months. Well after the second denial I believed that I needed to hire an expert and Im very glad I did ....Even though Im an extreme case of bipolar I can say they are very friendly and helpful and they have taken most of the stress off..... They do call about every two months or so to check on me to see if my situation has changed such as work or prescription changes. I really am great full that they really seam to care about my situation. They may not be able to expedite your case but they can take the pressure of getting your case prepared for you such as filling out the book of questions that social security prepares for you at the initial application process, and as I found very hard for me to fill out properly and in hind sight I shouldve hired them sooner, anyways enough of my rant. Tabak Law is a 20 star law firm. They don't give up on you. They are professional, compassionate, honest and they get the job done. We used Tabak Law for my husband's SSDI claim and I truly can not say enough about how wonderful they were to work with. We are in CA and their office is in WI but that never mattered in the least in terms of how easy it was to work with them. Our Case Manager, Ruby, was the best! She was in constant contact with us, consistently checked-in and kept us up-to-date over the long and stressful wait for Social Security to process the claim and get us to a hearing. She was kind, compassionate, and efficiently managed my husband's records and SS file throughout. She was always responsive and helpful with whatever questions we had. Even after my husband's case was approved and they had received their fee, where other's I know couldn't get their representatives to return their calls, Ruby was still available and happy to help us when we had questions. Attorney Reed (the local attorney they sent to represent my husband at his hearing here in Oakland, CA) and Attorney Jillian in the Tabak office were also very competent, professional, and a pleasure to work with. The SS Disability system is broken and extremely flawed. You can expect at least a 2 year wait for benefits at the very minimum. It's an exhausting, stressful, and very frustrating process and I can only imagine how poor representation could add to a claimant's stress and low morale. She did not speak coherently and rushed through a questionnaire. I explained that my injury is rare and probably does not fit into any of the categories listed. She did not care. They did my disability paperwork. I got rejected. They called me to ask about my meds. I said "you have all that". They said they would resubmit/appeal the decision. A couple weeks later I called to see if they had resubmitted it to which I was told "we have to go through the questions again to input into the computer".
