The food is delicious!!! Came here with some friends, it's a small location, highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. They have a small back garden area that's covered. The churrasco is a must. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

The best part about Tabare is definitely the vibe-- so warm and welcoming. They don't rush you at all (we took FOREVER to order, and they were super accommodating). We ate for a long time, sat for a long time, and there was truly no rush. It was giving Europe with how generous they were with time. Food wise, my favorite thing I ate was the beef empanada. Super fresh and flavorful; give me 10 more. I was also a fan of the brussels salad, which was both savory and sweet. Where I went wrong was definitely the ravioli-- while it wasn't bad, I just don't think ravioli is where their strong suit is. The plate was lackluster compared to the burgers my friends got, and the flavor was a bit bland. I'd definitely recommend going with a meat dish (as the menu says they're known for), and absolutely that beef empanada!

Great vibes all around. Good, flavorful cocktails. The octopus casserole was not bad, but it was mainly packed with potatoes and not enough octopus. The flavor was interesting; it was mainly creamy and could have used a bit more salt or umami. We also ordered the trademark sandwich, which came with an egg, steak, and ham, and fries. Fries were delectable, sandwich messy, meat well-cooked. Quality ingredients all around, but flavor was just a tad lackluster; could have used a bit of heat or citrus or just even salt. Overall, would want to come back and try other items on the menu. Take note that they only take cash or AmEx lol (new level of wealth?)

Everything was really good!! We order empanadas, steak and the pasta dish everything tasted delicious. The drinks were so good and the service was excellent! Our waitress was great! The vibes were romantic and sexy!! Make sure you have cash or AMEX because that's the only thing they accept as payment and they have an ATM too.

Cute ambiance, rustic / industrial feels, dim lighting and an option to see "out" back, which is fully covered as well. The service was friendly and accommodating, great recommendations provided. We really enjoyed our drinks, they were pretty strong, from the margarita, mojitos & their bourbon cocktails. The food is delicious! Very flavorful, in all the right ways! Their Churrasco & Rib Eye were so juicy and cooked to perfection paired with a really tasty chimichurri sauce! Would definitely recommend!

Short review: Just solid food. Would probably recommend the Chivito Completo the most but everything was solid. I went to this Uruguayan restaurant a while back with a group. The service was friendly and the place has a laid back bar atmosphere without much lighting which means my photos of the food aren't exactly that good. To drink I had the El Cabo which is normally $11 but I think it was $8 or so during happy hour which is normally with tequila, lime, grapefruit, and a smoked paprika rim but I got it with mezcal instead which they were fine with substituting. It was a smoky tasty drink with some citrus. We got a few appetizers to split first. The Empanadas came with either grass-fed beef and green olives; free-range chicken, onion, and peppers,; or Spanish tuna with black olives; or a kale based vegetarian option that we didn't order. I tried a bit of each with my preference being the beef, then the tuna, and then the chicken but they were all pretty tasty. They're probably the only thing I found here that was a bit overpriced. Also very tasty was the Pâté Casero with organic chicken liver pâté and onion marmalade which was served with some toast. The pate had a good texture with some richness and paired nicely with the sweet onions and pickles. The quality would have been good in a French spot and was more than good here. I don't remember much but we also had the Chorizo Adobado with Uruguayan sausage, roasted onions, red peppers, and adobo sauce. This was fine. We otherwise got a couple mains to split amongst the group. My favorite of the bunch was the Chivito Completo which is their take on a classic Uruguayan sandwich. This consists of grass-fed filet mignon fried organic egg, bacon, provolone, black forest ham, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, bibb lettuce, beefsteak tomato, Spanish olives, and aioli served with fries. All those ingredients came together for a messy delicious sandwich with a good mix of flavors from rich to salty. The steak was very tender in particular. The fries were fine but nothing notable. There was also the very good Churrasco consisting of a 10 oz skirt steak with chimichurri, duck fat potatoes, and a green salad. This steak again was tender with a bit of herbal sourness from the chimichurri though not as much as some other spots. The potatoes were rich with a good texture (I didn't have much of the salad.) The Homemade Pappardelle with said pasta with a portobello-truffle cream was my least favorite of the mains but still fine. There was plenty of pasta which was cooked nice and al-dente and the sauce had plenty of mushrooms and had good umami. They also grated some cheese at the table which was a nice touch. For dessert, I went with the Alfajor Rustico with layers of crisp homemade cookies, dulce de leche, chocolate ganache, and sea salt caramelized walnuts. This was a fun spin on the dulce de leche cookie found all over that region and wasn't as overly sweet as I expected with a good mix of textures. I tried a bit of the Manjar Del Cielo or dulce de leche flan which was more standard and perfectly fine. The food here overall was very solid. The prices were reasonable outside of perhaps the empanadas being a bit overpriced and the flavors were solid. There wasn't really a bad dish among everything we ordered and the meat in particular was cooked perfectly. It's hard to make many complaints. Mid 4 for general quality and reasonable prices.

Charming and Intimate Latin restraint tucked away in Williamsburg. Have been here twice and enjoyed both times. Came on a Monday without a reservation and was seated promptly in the covered back patio. It is a lovely restaurant with good service. For drinks we got the sangria and the Hibiscus Mezcalita, both drinks were good. Only wish was the sangria was larger. For appetizers we got the empanadas, 1) chicken 2) Gruyère cheese, both were flavorful. For entree we tried the Ravioli which was very rich and hearty. Wanted to try the lamb lasagna but unfortunately they were sold out for the night. Overall a great experience, will certainly be back!

Service was impeccable and the staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. Case in point, I couldn't decide on the recs made for my entree and the bartender let me taste both before deciding on a pairing. The atmosphere is very intimate and cozy. I really love places like this. I took the bartender's rec on the wine for my skirt steak and also tried the beet salad. Both delicious and very filling.

Serving traditional Uruguayan food, their churrasco (steak) is unbelievable ~ full of flavor and sauce. I would also recommend their empanadas. The beef & onion was my favorite, but the kale one was also good. The staff are incredibly kind and were able to make space for us at the bar when all the tables were reserved, which, as a protip, is a kind reminder to make a reservation.

Beautiful romantic cozy spot! Food is delicious and filling! I got the chivito and a fondu like appetizer! I didn't love the dessert but the food was so warming and flavorful! Tabaré is a super cute Uruguayan restaurant tucked away off the beaten path in Williamsburg. I was really impressed by this place -- both the food and drinks were really good and I thought the prices were reasonable. I ordered the Verde to drink as well as the burger, which was well seasoned (and the fries were really good!) We walked in on a Saturday night around 7 and were seated outside right away. However, our waiter was rather short with us and wasn't very friendly, although the food made up for it. FYI, they only accept cash or Amex!!

We were really excited to try this place but it did not meet expectations. We ordered the chicken and beef empanadas, these were okay. The grilled octopus was mostly lima beans and maybe 5 pieces of octopus. For entrées, we order the ribeye, the Churrasco, burrata ravioli and the Lamb Bolognese. The ribeye quality was really poor, tasted more like a flank steak and we asked for medium rare, it came out to be more on the medium side. The Churrasco was also really tough and the chimichurri sauce was not that great. The Lamb Bolognese pasta was very gamey and not enough sauce when they first brought over the pasta, my first reaction was it's not saucy enough. The pappardelle pasta used in the dish was good and silky though. The best of the 4 dishes we ordered was the burrata ravioli, but it's also the hardest dish to mess up on, it's simply cheese and pasta. Overall, the food lacked salt and taste. The service was also really poor, it took us a while to flag someone down to order food, drinks and the check.

I stopped here for some empanadas and truly that's the only thing I ended up getting.. but they were THAT good that I'm writing a whole review about it LOL They're not no deli empanadas let me tell you! Super quality, flaky, and bite worthy shell, full of whatever filling you choose. I'd highly recommend the chicken one and especially the 3 cheese one. That dipping sauce is to die for as well. This place is great for date nights, with friends, or even a coworker. It's dark and moody. The drinks are fantastic! We tried three of there specialty drinks and they were amazing!!!! I had the pasta of the day and my friend had the chicken with fries. Both were great, very well seasoned. For a Wednesday night it had many patrons, and the service was great! Love this place! This is my second time here and they never miss. We arrived at 5pm right when they opened and there was plenty of space, no reservation needed. If you're coming later, i would recommend calling ahead to see what kind of space they have because they do tend to get crowded and it's a small place. Their happy hour is great for drinks and their menu is super diverse. My glass of wine was $6 and i think the cocktail was $8 or maybe $10! Hard to beat that in nyc, especially for the quality. The service is friendly and the ambience is perfect for a date night. It's a bit dark inside, i know that's the vibe they're going for but the restaurant just needs a tiny bit more light so you can see what you're eating a little more. The churrasco was delicious, juicy, and cooked to the exact temperature i asked for. Same goes for the ribeye. For an app, we got empanadas (not pictured here) which were delicious also and perfect to start off without making you too full. The prices are super reasonable for the quality of the food/experience and I'm already excited to go back to try some new menu items! Overall, this place is super worth it. This restaurant has now become my favorite spot in the Williamsburg area. The happy hour here is amazing, and I've already rallied my girls to come here during our next GNO. Service here is attentive and friendly which plays to the whole dining experience. Mussels are good and I would recommend this. Chivito completo sandwich is another item I recommend. The churrasco's chimichurri is mostly oil, and when I tried some of my friends I was not a fan. Food here is pretty on point, aside from the rib eye which I found to be pretty dry. It was disappointing it was one of the more expensive items on the menu. My only complaint, aside from the dry rib eye, is to please train your waitstaff to calculate tip based off the pre-tax amount, not post-tax amount; I didn't notice the miscalculation until I got home. read more

I dined here with a friend for happy hour on 11/19/24 st around 6:30pm. We made a reservation, and were promptly seated with a choice of table. Our server was so kind and so super attentive. The ambiance was so nice- very laidback but still felt fancy. Decor was super cool and I liked that the lighting was dim. This place definitely feels like it can be good for anything- from an upscale dinner to a chill happy hour get together. Our drinks were DELICIOUS. I got the Dulce de leche espresso martini inspired drink and while it was sweet, it was also very balanced and I enjoyed it. Prices were on the more expensive side, and they were cash only (but they do have an atm!) While this isn't my typical dining style, I would definitely recommend. read more

Like everyone else, I ordered the skirt steak and it was absolutely a delight. The steak was tender and perfectly seasoned without overwhelming the natural taste of the meat. I also ordered the beef empanada and cheese empanada. Both had a very "homemade" taste to them, which I absolutely loved. The sauce that came with it as excellent as well. The decor wasn't my style (too dark) but I did like the spacious backdoor patio. I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be coming back again. Minus one star for the potatoes that came with the steak (very dry and bland despite being prepared with duck fat) and because the toilet could definitely be a bit cleaner. Go try this place out. Awesome food, definitely recommend the mussels and skirt steak. The service was fast, waitress was nice and friendly. The only thing we got annoyed was that the restaurant was really dark! I mean you can see each other , but we had hard time to read the menu. We were all holding a candle to read, my parents in law couldn't see anything, they had to use flashlights from the phone, though they didn't want to. Once the food was on table, just eat it, coz you can't really see anything clearly on your food. Lol read more

This place has been on my bookmarks for years and I finally got to try it! They're known for their skirt steaks but we tried their Prime Rib special -- delicious but a little more cooked than we wanted it. Ok, i had no idea that Uruguayan restaurants even existed in Williamsburg (my mistake). This place is amazing and i'm surprised that there isn't a wait time for brunch or dinner. I came here around 6ish and the place was practically empty. It's pretty dark and intimate, has a cozy vibe and perfect if you're catching up with friends or on a date. As for the food - wow. I have a few food intolerances and this place definitely has a variety of options. I love that it mixes Latin American + Italian flavors. They have traditional Uruguayan dishes as well as pasta. To start, I opted for the "caserola de pulpo & habas" which is a grilled octopus casserole that comes with lima beans, smoked paprika and aioli. I asked for the aioli on the side. I'm picky about my octopus and it was prepared PERFECTLY. Soft, not rubbery at all, and a bit of spice. The lima beans were a great addition to this dish. For my main, i got the Churrasco (10 oz skirt steak - hormone free!), cooked medium, with chimichurri, duck fat potatoes, and green salad. It was so.damn.good. Perfectly juicy, and delicious. You also can't really beat the price ($25). I can't recommend this place enough for a delicious, and honestly really affordable, brunch OR dinner. Can't wait to come back to try more items off the menu!! read more

This Tuesday required a special intimate setting, as I wanted to commemorate a special occasion close to our hearts. After several choices we decided to go to Tabare. It is the pure definition of small and intimate, accentuating a soothing candle light setting. Over the years we have experienced several brunches, dinners and even a Valentine's here. The food, service and atmosphere appeal have always been amazing. The wooded walls and fire flickering of the candles provide for a warm feeling and sensation. For small dishes we ordered the Chorizo adobado, empanadas, and Cacerola de pulpo & habas (grilled octopus). The standout is always the Churrasco, so we ordered three. The food has never faltered and always taste delicious. One thing, is it just me or I can't get enough of that bread! There is a small selection of Uraguyaun restaurants in NY, but I find this to be the best. This is due to their unfailing commitment to what an intimate restaurant experience should be. An AMAZING find!! the vibe is very lowkey and exactly what we were looking for. the food was great! we got the chicken and beef empanadas and were tempted to order more before we left. we also got the Uruguayan sausage and butternut squash raviolis which were also amazing! for cocktails, we got the el cabo and the el gaucho and both were review worthy. on top of all of that, the service was great. our waiter was very helpful and also ended our night with 2 glasses of champagne on the house. definitely recommend!! read more

My co worker recommended this Uruguayan place for their Churrasco ( skirt steak) one of their house specialties, I can say it was good, what made it excellent was the chimichurri, the sauce that they spread on the meat (mouth watering) the fries...ok nothing special an the salad ...no comment, I ordered also 2 empanadas 1 chicken 1 gouda cheese, the chicken empanafa let me tell you was good and tasty and the sauce they give you for the empanadas OMG my favorite! Hard to explain but was soo delicious, that sauce made the cheese empanada taste better. I order a uruguayan sausage... nothing special, I think German sausages are better. So in conclusion I would say, their sauces are what making their food taste better. I would definitely would try again their Churrasco with extra sauce on the side both sauces . Service is great, friendly staff and they're pretty quick in prepering your food! That I love. Ambience cozy and prices not bad. Give it a try! Just dont forget the sauces read more

So so so good. Food was delicious, service was great, and drinks were cheap! We came for brunch for a birthday and sat out on the back patio. We were a large group which can be difficult to manage and maintain but the wait staff did an amazing job. We ordered the churrasco, chivito completo and the huevos. The huevos were baked eggs and I wouldn't recommend this dish because of the extensive menu options and how good our other orders were, but I would definitely recommend the chivito if you are having trouble deciding, it was so delicious. The fries were also really good, and I would come back to try the empanadas as we didn't get a chance to try them. For brunch you get coffee, a drink, and brunch entree for $18, and happy hour on cocktails is $6. And these are not cheap cocktails, they are beautiful and tasty specialty cocktails. I was served the most flavourful martini ever! I don't drink often or well, so it was nice to have a drink and understand why people drink because in my biased opinion, alcohol is not delicious and cocktails might be worse! This one was pretty good, so although I won't make this a habit, I do know where to go now for a yummy cocktail! The service was also really lovely! read more

I visited on 3/18. Service is amazing, vibes are too! Great date night spot. The interior is just so cozy. The back room has heaters that keep you warm for sure. We got: - the vegetarian empanadas - blood sausage toast - mussels in broth - octopus All of it was AMAZING. I rarely find good empanadas as a vegetarian, but both the fontina and kale ones were great. I think I even liked the kale stuffed one more. The sauce that accompanies them is also amazing, I have no idea what was in it but it was delicious. The octopus was perfectly cooked and came in a little skillet with some aioli and large lima beans. The beans were such a nice touch, I've never had octopus with them but they were so good. Those two stood out the most to me, I didn't get to try the blood sausage as I am vegetarian but my dining partner also loved it. Said he never tried blood sausage before in this form -- it was sort of like a spread -- but he thought it was great. read more

I really enjoyed this place. I took my wife out for a Date Night all the way from the Bronx. We ordered the Entraña skirt steak and it was really delicious. I had a poor experience here because the restaurant only takes cash yet still charges extremely high fees. Even with the cash, I had to pay 20% gratuity for a party of 5 (the policy states 6 people online??) Ended up having to make 2 separate ATM withdrawals because the ATM maxes out at $200. Great spot! Super cool, chill vibe and decor. Drinks were good, food was awesome, and service was excellent from the moment we arrived. I was super excited to try the fried artichokes on special and they did not disappoint. Some of the best I've had in the states. Cute decor with very dim lights, which is great for a date but maybe not so good for being able to read the menu. Service is friendly but maybe not world-class. Food is pretty casual considering the decor but not bad; just be prepared for burgers and creamy cheesy sauces. Maybe not the sexiest stuff to eat in such a sexy setting. But hey, at least it's dimly lit, so nobody will see if you drop food on your shirt. I would go back but not like in a huge hurry, if you know what I mean. My friend introduced me to this place since he really liked steak from here and I gotta say, the steak tasted so delicious! *chefs kiss* haha I would definitely recommend getting the skirt steak! Very impressed by their Uruguayan & Argentinian delicious food! Especially empanadas, beet salad and steaks! And their Tabaré house wine is amazing (half priced during happy hours!). Our waitress was so nice & the service was really really good until .... they asked me & my two business clients to leave as our reservation was over ?!!! I can't believe it. We spent like $500 and kept ordering drinks & all kind of food non-stop, but they said that it's common in NYC that any table reservation is limited to only 2-2,5 hours max (that I believe is total nonsense!). We are spending money - why are you kicking us out?! Initially I wanted to give 3 stars to this restaurant because of that, but since they really have an amazing meal I decided to give 4. Such a great place! I came here when it was still perpetually hot out and the weather wasn't so blue. Was walking around the area and wanted a cute little place to grab a lite bite and some iced coffee. This place was a heaven sent answer. They have a really great little outside section, both in the front and back. I could not get over how charming the backyard was: string lights over head and plants all over the walls. We had a couple of iced lattes and shared a few appetizers as a late second lunch. (You guys have first lunch and second lunch too, right?) The mussels stole the show. So tasty and in a light cream sauce. The inside was intimate and beautiful and necessary now that it is chilly out. I highly recommend for a date or just a small group dinner. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere was 5 stars. I'm from Jersey and I would make the trek back to Brooklyn for a date night here. We enjoyed the overall experience of dining here. The food and cocktails were good and the ambience is lovely. But then the check came and we were told only cash and Amex are accepted, which is extremely strange and inconvenient for a nice NYC establishment. The ATM in the back could only dispense so much which left us awkwardly short for tipping. The waiter pointed out the policy is spelled out on the menu. But honestly it's so dark even our 20-something guests couldn't read the menu without a light. I also would never be looking for fine print at the bottom of a menu like that or imagine I couldn't use Visa. It is also worth noting that here on Yelp it reads "Accepts credit cards." If the restaurant is going to have a weird policy like this they should warn everyone when they sit down. Even better, accept Visa like 99% of restaurants do. read more

I came here the day after Valentine's Day to be able to enjoy without the Valentine's Day rush I'd assume. The food was exquisite, I had the chicken and beef empanadas which were so soft and tasty. I ordered the rib eye with truffle fries which I'm still thinking about till this day. My girlfriend has the churrasco which she enjoyed as well. I ventured into trying some Uruguayan cuisine and let me say It was delish. I had the steak with potatoes and The Verde Cocktail and it was one of the healthiest, most refreshing looking and tasting alcoholic drinks I've ever tried. It enjoyed the ambiance, service by our staff was good and the manager on site was personable. I've learned they had a Bushwick location, of which, I'll be open to going. I would rate Tabaré four and a half stars. My girlfriend and I dined in for dinner. It's also intimate atmosphere with dim lighting giving the restaurant a romantic feel. We started with the cheese empanada and the beef empanada. I liked them both. Then we split the burrata salad which I enjoyed too. Finally, we split one of their daily specials: the ribeye. We asked for it to be prepared medium rare and the chef hit the mark perfectly. All in all, we had a great experience. read more

This was the first time I tried any food from Uruguay and I liked it very much. I tried their domestic Uruguayan white wine and it was solid. As an appetizer I had burata cheese with grilled peaches and toast and this was so tasty . Great appetizer , never had that combo before. As a main dish I had Uruguayan stake . It was pretty good . They have outdoor area now as well with heaters outside and separate boots which is very nice. The staff is friendly and I will definitely go there again . read more

My go-to spot for brunch in Williamsburg. I go a few times a month. I've never been for dinner though. I don't understand how there isn't a line out the door, but there's never been a wait. Great spot for an improtu brunch with a group of friends. When friends come visit it's always on the agenda. For around $20 you can get a coffee, cocktail and steak from the pre-fix menu which is unheard of in the neighborhood. Food is great. Cocktails are great. Ambiance is great. This place is so cute, cozy, and romantic! We went for dinner and it had dim lights and candles inside. We sat in the back patio and it is cozy as well with hanging string lights and candles. We went while happy hour was still going and ordered the pituco cocktail. Loved the drink and ended up ordering another one! Plus it was $6 for their happy hour deal! As for the food: Cheese empanada was amazing! The chicken empanada was really good also, but thought the cheese one was better. They are pretty small in size. Established in 2010.

Traditional Uruguayan cuisine is based in its indigenous and strong European roots. Most Uruguayans are descended from colonial-era settlers and immigrants from Europe. Beef is considered the main staple of Uruguayan fare, although other meats such as lamb and chicken are consumed in sparse amounts. As a result of the Italian immigration in the late 1800's and early 1900's, pasta is considered a national Uruguayan food. Uruguayans also love their breads, sausages, soups and stews. And, not to be forgotten are the variety of sweets, especially dulce de leche, a milk based caramel "piece of heaven." We at Tabaré, believe that to make great food, you have to start with great ingredients. Tabaré strives to use local and organic products as much as possible. Notes- Most dishes are a bit more, so see the photos, but not by much…read more I have been to this Ecuadorian restaurant twice at this point, though last time was long enough ago that even with my usual vast food memory, I barely remember what we ordered outside of it all tasting good. The most recent time was a few days ago, and it was excellent. The staff is nice, and the portions are generous for the price point, with two of us taking home leftovers out of the four people dining. To drink, three of us had shakes, or rather batidos, with the prices being $7 en agua or $8 en leche. I went with Lulo, which is listed as Solanum online, but really refers to naranjilla. As per the name, it means a little orange, but it is closer in flavor to a mix between pineapple and lime. Others had Maracuyá/passion fruit and Guanábana/soursop, and everyone enjoyed their drinks. They gave us some chulpi/corn nuts on the table, along with some aji verde, a lightly spicy green sauce which went with some of our heavier appetizers. Our heavier appetizer was two orders of the Bolón Mixto for $10. Bolon refers to a green plantain ball, and they offer the traditional cheese version along with chicharron, or with camarones/shrimp. The mixto combines the cheese and pork, and it was delicious, but very filling. One was more than enough, but we still enjoyed it, with the aji verde helping to reduce the overall richness. There was also the $6.50 Yapingachos/Llapingacho, or pan-fried potato cakes. These came two to an order and came topped with an onion and tomato salsa, along with some lettuce below. The potato cakes were a lot lighter by comparison to our other appetizer, but still flavorful. I would recommend them, as with other people who go here. Our smaller main dish was the Ceviche de Pescado for $17.00, or fish cocktail served either with rice or, as our choice, chifles or fried plantain chips. This was also available as a mixto, but I didn't order it as I have a pulpo allergy. There was a large amount of fresh fish inside for the price, making it very worth it. As with most ceviches, there was some sourness from the lime along with some fresh chopped herbs, onions, and tomatoes. It lacked a bit of heat I usually prefer, but I still liked it, and the whole thing was devoured quickly. Our other main dishes were all $19. My favorite of the bunch was the Seco de Chivo, with goat stew slowly cooked in home-made sofrito and beer, served with yellow rice, sliced avocado, and sweet plantain. The goat was cooked down until it was extremely tender, but still had a bit of chew, and there was a good amount of meat, even with the amount of bones in there. The broth was savory and mildly sweet, being warming, comforting, and perfect on top of the rice. This was excellent. For most of the other group, their favorite was the Chaulafan, a mix of stir-fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, egg, and veggies served with sweet plantain and avocado. The rice had a nice texture with some lightly crispy portions and was mildly salty. The meat inside was mostly very tender, regardless of what meat it was. This was excellent as well. The remaining dish was the Sango de Camarones, listed as a tropical dish and a purée of green plantains, slowly cooked in peanut sauce and shrimp, and topped with citrus red onions served with yellow rice and sliced avocado. The dish had a unique, almost gruel-like texture, which was a bit off-putting to some, but others like myself liked it. The shrimp inside was tender, and the dish felt a bit richer than the other mains. This was probably our least favorite main, but it was still good. We were quite full, but got some $7 Flan for dessert, which is in-house made. It wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference, and the texture was semi-soft. It was a good version, and the portion was large for the price. We liked this as well. Not many complaints here. Friendly service and good, reasonably priced food.

The cheese was layered on top, almost difficult to mix in as the steam from the cup sort of started to melt the cheese. It also was missing mayo/crema, any seasoning like Tajín/chili powder and it came with a lemon slice instead of a lime :( I'd be open to trying them again, but really to try their juice. Ideally the blackberry, mango or passion fruit juice.

That is definitely a uniques flavored ice cream. The service and food was excellent and I can see why reservations are hard to come by.

I am yelping now do to how much my roomate loves it. Is her bible. I have always been skeptical. Food is my greatest passion. I love to eat GOOD FOOD. I know food pretty well and i did not want to be disappointed. But I finally gave it a try and WOWWWW i loved the places it has guide me to. Here is my first: Tabare. Tabare is different. Unique. Not your typical cookie cutter place. The decor is phenomenal. Someone definitely put a lot of love and though into designing this restaurant. I have been to Latin America and Europe many times and this place gives me the same type feel of comfort and freedom like if time, work...etc did not matter anymore. It all vanished. The Food was simply delicious. No heavy sauces, no mixes of tons of ingredients. Just great food. Local, Farmed sourced, Organic, Hormone free, Pastured.. I tried the lemon Gnocchi with Peas and Spinach. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Such tender little pillows with mozzarella cheese melting out of them. Spinach was cooked perfectly, wilted but still crunchy, Peas were sweet and NOT mushy. A hint of lemon and truffle oil... Oh man i need to go back just for this. Best i have ever had!!!! My friend had the Churrasco. It was cooked perfectly. Juicy, tender.. Amazing. We also shared Beef and Special empanadas . Crispy, tender crust ( hard to find anywhere) Packed with super tasty, flavorful meat, cheese, mushrooms.. Just WOW. The wine was very good! We had a bottle of Rose that was perfect. Just enough fruit to it, without being overly sweet, mineral and very dry. Yum! It was very affordable as well! We ended our meal with Strawberry Rhubarb sorbet. This was just heaven. If they have it, go for it! The server told us that their kitchen is tiny. Therefore, the long wait for food. But it does make for such a different personal taste. It was like eating at a private dinner a Chef is having at her/his house. The Staff was Friendly and sweet. Here, Tabare can really improve. Service was slow.... and i am not talking just about the food. Servers disappeared several times. Also, servers should be more knowledgeable of the menu. I asked my server a few things and answers were short and uninformative. Our server seemed overwhelmed and confused. The table next to us got their food wrong, and waited a lot longer than us. I had a fantastic dining experience that transported me to the quaint charm of an old café in Ciudad Vieja, Montevideo. The restaurant's dim lighting and cozy atmosphere create a warm, intimate setting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The appetizers were phenomenal. The Uruguayan sausage stood out, boasting a slightly spicy kick that resulted in a complex, intriguing flavor profile. The empanadas were also delicious, though fried rather than baked, which is more typical of Argentine versions. Still, they were delightful. The churrasco, a succulent skirt steak, was juicy and cooked to perfection, while the crispy duck-fat potatoes added an irresistible richness. The wine selection is impressive, with some rare varietals, including Tannat from Uruguay, perfectly complementing the robust, meat-forward menu. As for dessert, the alfajor cookie was delicious, though the chocolate slightly overpowered the dulce de leche filling. The aged Manchego provided a unique and memorable conclusion to the meal. The ambience is charming, though a bit loud and crowded on a busy Friday night, with closely spaced tables. Food is excellent. The sad thing about hole in the wall places along this specific street and specific location is the history of bars and spots that were housed repeatedly as Williamsburg gentrified each time less sensitive to people of color each time which is disturbing but typical of South American and Spaniard Culture. The smugness and our of touch service is what you will find here. Bridge and tunnel service where a Jameson is on menu but the amateur hour staff is what ruins many local dinning spots in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. The poser European vibe that has taken over restaurants like this makes the experience for many a bad negative vibe. Look at the spots in Crown Heights - white privileged posers infiltrate places like this evening. We were not offered even bread while all the white patrons were offered bread and a choice of outdoor seating and indoor while we browns were only offered the bar area tucked away from those French speaking a holes. Lol. So here's my conclusion - 110 plus we still left 20 bucks as a tip to the waitress who sucked. If you're brown from New York Puerto Rican and not white. I would avoid this spot and head out to Queens. Sad that idiots like this get to run a business in this cool part of town. Not brown people friendly at all. read more

Definitely a place I wouldn't be able to find on my own. I saw a photo of the skirt steak from a friend and knew immediately that I had to go try it. 10 ounces for $25? Worth it. I went on a Wednesday at 7pm. I made a reservation the day before, but the restaurant was basically empty when I arrived. They have outdoor seating both in the front and back of the restaurant. It's very cute and homey inside. All the waiters/waitresses are extremely friendly... always asking if you need anything else and if everything is to your liking. The steak was cooked perfectly. I ask for medium rare and when I cut through it, I was able to see the pink. I also loved the fact that the steak was of a good thickness. The potatoes tasted like giant potato wedges but with a beautiful crunchy outside. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because at the end of dinner, my right arm had 10 mosquito bites (due to the fact that I sat in the backyard garden) and also there is a huge burn on my left knee because the table wasn't leveled and the hot oil slid off the plate and onto my knee. However, I was wearing a summer dress and wasn't able to feel it until midway through my dinner. (Also the food was just so good!) Overall, great food, great service. read more

Wow, this place is amazing! This is my first yelp review and I have to say that after eating the pasta at Tabare, I had to contribute and write this review. It was hands down, the best pasta dish I have ever had in my life! I have been going to Tabare now for a few months and have become a devout regular. The pasta dishes change weekly and sometimes nightly. From the ravioli, to gnocchi, to tagliatelle, this place knows how to do it right. All of these dishes are definitely hand made and no doubt with lots of love. The gnocchi is light and divine and even has cheese stuffed in the middle. The ravioli is simply to die for. Lots of creative fillings, like beet leaf greens and farmers mozzarella and once I had a maitake and mascarpone. This place really knows their pasta! Other than the pasta, definitely go for the empanadas. The dough on these little guys is so light and mouth watering and the fillings are spot on. I love the cheese and beef and if you go on a night when they offer an empanada special, definitely get it. You wont be let down. They also do lots of special salads each night with the freshest of vegetables and cheeses and creative dressings. Unbelievably well done. read more

Last night we took the trek out to Brooklyn. My girlfriend is from Uruguay and I wanted to surprise her with a night out that would make her feel like being home. Let me tell you this places is, "THE JOINT!", We had the best time. The place is small but really nice, from the moment you step inside you feel comfortable. There where some folks celebrating a birthday, so there was a wait for a table, so we sat at the bar and never left. The food was great, we had Mussels and Provolone for apps, Chivito (classic Uruguayan plate) and Churrasco for main, both were superb. It's home style with a flair, delicious, and just enough. For dessert we ordered the Flan and were invited to a delicious chocolate torta ( cross between a mousse and flour-less chocolate cake). This place is one that I will highly recommend and definitely revisit with friends. I wish nothing but the best for Ramiro and the crew., This is a place that you should support if your around Williams burg, you wont be disappointed. read more

The place is very cute..I sat at the bar, since I arrived early, I started with a glass of their sangria (was ok) then when we moved to a table we started with their spicy margaritas (loved). Our waitress was very sweet and helped out with recommendations. We went with everything she suggested. Started with the Empanada's, one beef and one cheese, both were delicious. Then we went with the grilled Octopus, although not my thing I did have one bite and it was definitely tasty. We then shared the steak, it was one of their specials for the evening. good quality food. the freshest ingredients. both the beef and cheese empanadas were amazing. the mussels were amazing, and the bread it came with was perfect for dipping in the leftover stew. the steak was one of the most tender, juicy and delicious i've ever had. the salad it came with was amazing. the atmosphere is great for dates or to hang out with friends. my only complaint would be that we had to sit at the bar because there were no tables available, however this could also be seen as a good thing. this place is so popular that it's not plausible to find an open table on a saturday night without a reservation. everything was delicious!!! read more

Experienced Tabaré last night for the first time. I had the churrasco and it was amazing. Since the meal is fairly light (the steak came accompanied with two small potato croquettes and some greens), there was room for dessert. We had the alfajor which is somewhat different than the traditional but oh so delicious. I'm not sure what other reviewers are talking about when they say that the staff is rude-- we thought they were amazing and on point. Maybe they've been reading the reviews and improved? We waited an hour and a half for our main course and practically had to inhale our food, because we had to finish by 9pm for a group of people that never arrived. Also the food was very salty and greasy, not to mention expensive and had very small portions. Disappointed. read more
