This place is such a gem I don't even know where to begin. The first thing I wanna do is address the prices. It really bothers me when people say "it's not the cheapest" when referring to these type of FAMILY/INDEPENDETLY OWNED businesses. Of course jewel, binny's and Cvs have cheaper prices -- it's ridiculous to even compare the two. I don't know about you guys but I love spending money here. Everything is clean and organized. It's a couple of brothers and a nephew that run the place and they been here for over 18 years. These are the type of places that locals/transplants alike should want to proudly support. I've had enough of this place. I've been picking up packages that I have sent there and the last time I did the man behind the counter sat there pretty much hidden behind the computer saying nothing. I stood there waiting for someone thinking they ran to the back for a minute but nope the man just sat there in silence just looking at me not speaking which was unsettling. He's also called "sweetie" multiple times every time I've gone in which I don't appreciate (and believe me no other woman does either). Very pleased with this store, as they carry several varieties of 3 Floyds! Binnys and another large store have not recently carried this brewery and it was refreshing to find 4 different six-packs for purchase and a variety of bombers that few other stores would consider carrying. Pretty solid beer selection. Prices a bit high, but I expect to pay a premium for convenience. I usually stop in on my way home from work. Today, I decided to grab a quick snack and soda instead of beer. When I went to pay, I was told about a $10 credit card minimum. Never had this issue before since I typically bought beer. They may have gotten my purchase this time, but I won't be back. (Side note: I completely understand that it is their choice to enforce a credit card minimum. It's just not a good business move. Because they forced me into a one time purchase for a higher price, they've lost all of my future business.) read more

One of the nicest little convenient liquor stores that I have ever patronized. I agree with what everyone else has said: VERY clean, and organized. And yes, great selection. After a fabulous trip to NYC where my boyfriend and I discovered that Brooklyn Brewery beer was the perfect choice to stock our mini-fridge, we have been trying to find it. Oh, you mean Nevada? Yeah, they're awesome. Used to be a block away from us in Ukrainian Village, so I went there at least once a day. I'm sure they think i'm a lush, but went here to get liquor/beer, food, gatorade, toilet paper, etc.. They have competitive prices and the joint is clean, just like all the other reviews said. I found Tabb's (aka Nevada) after searching high and low for a local store that sold Three Floyd's Gumballhead beer. Everyone who was supposed to sell it was always out of stock. 3 days ago I was absolutely determined to find this beer and searched the internet for stores who sell it. Went to Tabb's and low and behold, the gates of heaven opened up and there in the cooler is a nice selection of Three Floyd's beer, including my beloved Gumballhead. I spoke with one guy who works there, Freddy, and he saw how excited I was and told me that they always have it. They limit their customers to 2 6-packs per person though. That's cool. I'll just make my way over there more often! Also, if you're a fan of Gumballhead, try Zombie Dust. This was recommended by Freddy and I ended up going back to try it and loved it! Just to add to the praise for Tabb's / Nevada... It's really nice to have this convenience store close by. It's clean and bright, and while the aisles are narrow, there's a good selection of beer and other booze as well as food and snacks. The guys who work there are usually distracted by the basketball or baseball on the flat screen, but they're still nicer than the average corner store employee. Not exactly cheap, but it sure beats walking to Dominick's or braving the insanity that is the local CVS Pharmacy. read more

I am content with my life to have such a well stocked liquor store a half a block away from my place. For a store that is the size of my living room, they manage to have a great selection of craft beer and specialty liquors. Prices are a bit steeper than Binny's or Sam's but that is what you get when you pay for convenience. Because of the diverse melting pot of Ukrainian Villagers meshing with the Humboldt Park-ers the (minimal) selection of snack food and convincing store type toiletries is also quite unique. $10 minimum on credit cards but they have an ATM in shop! read more

I started coming here when I was a block away, but now I'll walk the dog a mile down here to pick up booze. Clean. So you aren't scared to buy edibles here. Most importantly though, awesome beer selection. They are competitive with grocery stores for beer. Clearly, they could rip you off as they are a convenience store, so I really appreciate that they don't. They also have random foods from the Puerto Rico store up the street. One of my fav. pit stops! Not even a 5 min walk from the house, which is great. I usually stop by for the basics: milk, and eggs. Just grabbed a bag of tamales from there today and they were excellent! The selection for alcohol is great, especially for the vodkas and beer. The price is a bit more but its a nice clean store and you get good service. The workers are really sweet and let my little pooch come in with me. She has a separation anxiety problem and starts to cry like theres no tomorrow, so they let her come in. read more

This place is also called Nevada. Not because I'm nutty, but because they actually have a sign above the door calling it Nevada. I moved to this neighborhood 9 months ago just as they began renovating. It was good before, but it is OUTSTANDING now. There are 3 family members who run it and they're always down for chatting, hearing a story or helping out. They re-did the whole place and now there's an AMAZING selection of beers (for such a small place and it's location) ranging from 8 packs of 8oz. mini Highlife bottles to Delirium Tremens and La Fin Du Monde 22 oz.ers. They also have a HUGE selection of wines that I'm less knowledgeable about, but they've recently installed a large wire cart shaped display that is adorable and that I frequently joke about stealing to push around the streets. There's your your basic grocery and sundries selection, a nice amount of ice cream choices and cigarettes as well as a well stocked hard liquor section with at least a dozen types of vodka for all the Ukrainians in the village. Nevada really makes my house feel like a home. read more

They get the job done for band practice beer. It's not the cheapest place I've been in but for its proximity to Superior St. Studios I'll take it. As others have noted there's actually quite a bit of decent stuff for being relatively small which is pretty cool, but we usually just stick with the High Life. Also you have no idea how refreshing it is that every single time I walk in (in season, that is) they have the White Sox playing on their TV. It's so awesome to walk in and have short but informative conversations with the father/son duo (right?) about the team. When most of the people you deal with on a daily basis are transplants (aka fair weather Cubs fans) these talks are a godsend. (parenthesis). read more

Sometimes they have fresh homemade salsa, tamales, and other goodies available at the counter. I live super close, so I drop in quite a bit to pick up items. Tabb's, also known as "Nevada", is awesome. Solid selection of beer, wine and liquors. Lots of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as well. it's a small little place but packed with good stuff. On the weekends they sell handmade tamales, a hangover must-have. Their fresh salsa is good too. The guys behind the counter know their locals and are always nice and helpful. TABBS has a great selection of wines. We were going to Cafe Ballou on Western (BYOB) and needed some Merlot. The guys at TABBS were very helpful. I bought an Argentine wine, it was perfect! This was the first time we went to this store, but, it won't be the last. Definitely, give them a try. read more
