Windy City Mini Market is a convenient grocery store around the area. The store is clean, properly organized and most of their products are fully stocked. I actually don't live near in here its just I went here when I wanted something and it was the nearest store that I found but if I am living in here then this would definitely my easy go to store for some basic items that I might needed in a quick. The store was full of snacks and different treats, basic items that you might need in a day and just the products that the typical mini store would have. The prices are fair and reasonable and the staff inside was nice and friendly. A great mini store indeed. read more

As good as it gets when it comes to a corner store. Really friendly owners, great selection. My favorite is the A-Z Foods salsas (huge selection too) in the cold case at the back of the store, locally made product that I haven't seen much elsewhere. read more

This place is very nice and cool. It has amazing things that you need. You can buy here if you are far from malls and need to buy things in an instant. It has a very calming and positive vibes. The best of quality. You got what you need and enjoy it. They are observing health protocols and of course the place is very clean. I love this place. It is my go-to corner store. I can get everything I need for any mexican meal easily, and I really enjoy their fresh salsa. I love that they sell fresh ingredients... cilantro, pineapple, tomatillos, jalapeños, dried or canned beans, etc. I can also always get odds and ends (like half and half) or a spice that I ran out of. I love this little neighborhood market. Yes, it's the closest one to where I live, but it's definitely my favorite of the others that are in the area...including the one in the building next to it. The owner/manager (not sure if he is the owner or not) is really cool and friendly. One day I had forgotten my debit card that I thought was in my wallet, instead of putting everything back..going home to get my card and walking back - he let me take my purchases and said I could pay when I was back in the area with my card. I've never had a market be so understanding and accommodating. Their prices are pretty damn good for being a small neighborhood market too. They sell tobacco products for their cost I believe. Newports are 11$, pouches of tobacco are 3.50$ for the regular size. They also sell lottery, and ventra passes. You can reload your bus pass there too. I believe they will send out packages for you too (I just don't think they do postage). The other workers are very nice and friendly too. Sometimes they don't understand me very well (English), but we figure it out. My suggestion for customers, don't pay for your tobacco with a credit/debit card if you can help it. They sell tobacco products for cost, or very near cost. When you pay by card, the store is charged a percentage by the credit card companies ... So they basically lose money when you use a card. They won't take a card for ventra without charging a 1$ convenience fee for the same reason. The variety of products offered is nice. Not only do you have basic food/household needs, but thru also sell candy, fresh fruit (it's technically a fruteria after all), meat, even rain ponchos, toiletries, cereal (3$ a box for certain kinds), and so much more. SO, even though I'm a little biased because it's MY neighborhood store, it really is one of the better ones I've ever been to. Support local small businesses!!! read more

Great little Mexican mercado with very good prices. Onions are $.89/lb, limes 5 for a dollar. And fresh warm tortillas (the kind that only last a day)! I've bought a variety of things here, even meat, which turns out to be a great deal. Don't anticipate a huge selection... in fact they're usually lacking some staples you'd expect like fresh cilantro and green onions. If you need some tortillas, fresh salsa, limes, and a can of beans (and perhaps a scratch off lottery card, which apparently makes up a good part of their business), then this is a great choice. This is a great little neighborhood store. It's really more of an ethnic grocery than anything--you can buy tons of Mexican/Latin American food here, like loads of sauces, spices, some meats and cheeses, and basically anything La Preferida or Goya ever put in a can. You can even get multiple kinds of cacti in the produce bin! Unfortunately, they also have a good amount of American stuff cluttering the shelves, which you can get anywhere for about the same price. It's the ethnic stuff that really shines--cheaper and so much better-tasting. I'll take ChocoMilk over Nesquik any day; it actually tastes like chocolate, and strawberry ChocoMilk is actually good (whereas strawberry Nesquik just tastes like "sweet" and not necessarily "good", and not like any sort of berry). They have tons of little imported candy bars and treats, too, if you're burned out after years of Reese's cups and Snickers bars. Aside from food, they have a pretty good selection of "home" things you might need at prices you won't even see at Target because they're distributed by really small brands. So, for example, aluminum foil being made of aluminum no matter what brand it is, you can pay $3 for a roll of Reynolds Wrap or $.99 for the same-sized roll of a brand you've never heard of. Pretty much 70% off. And say you're sick of the April Fresh Downy you've know since back when your mother did your laundry--you can move on to discovering a whole other country's laundry products (they have a full range of "Ensueno", for example) instead of paying $6.99 a bottle for the newest of-the-moment Snuggle scent. They just clearly don't have cats because you can only buy non-clumping cat litter here, which is really cheap, but you can't scoop out the smelly problems. I'm just disappointed that the owner is Arab but you can't buy any Middle Eastern food here. I'd like to try, say, Lebanon's favorite candy, or Saudi Arabia's most popular spice mixes. What's the fun of having someone from a statistically exotic culture running the store when you don't get to benefit from that in the choice of merchandise? read more

I love this place! It's everything a neighborhood market should be. A small selection of fresh produce, staples you might run out of, but not feel motivated to go on a full out shopping trip for, and decent fresh meat. But, everything isn't marked up ridiculously. Also, if you are lucky, you will find their fresh guac; I think it is the best guac I've ever had! read more
