We adopted two cats 5 months apart and they became the cutest playmates. They were well taken care of we are lucky to get such sweet cats. I definitely recommend this place they are so sweet and caring to the cats in there even the ones in the back that need special attention. Adopted a cat that was going to need a minor surgery. We were fine with that. Took the cat home. The very next day we received a call to bring the cat back because it was a mistake for the car to be adopted. Was told the cat was ill. We gave the cat back as we were instructed to. We were very sad. We found out that the cat was actually healthy and it was a lie that the cat was ill (we called the vet). We think the manager just wanted the cat. Very cruel to make someone return a pet. read more

Not to be confused with Flabby Town, which is... well, every city in the US these days. So Tabby Town is pretty adorable and has tons of perfect little cats for you to invite home. Anything which gets kittens that need a home out to the public has got to be a good thing in my book. And they do it well. Prices are modest and the cats are nothing short of adorable. Come in and pick up a cat from here for sure but make sure to also get one from the Ten Lives Club which one of the organizations which places these cats in various malls, as the Ten Lives Club needs all the support they can get and when you get a cat through TLC, it's not only cheaper, but 100% of your money goes to the Ten Lives Club. I recently went into Tabby Town because I've been looking for a cat companion. I had some pretty specific requirements because I already own a dog and needed a cat who'd get along with her. I also needed a cuddly, people oriented cat because I am disabled and spend a lot of time in bed. Basically, I needed an emotional support animal. Tabby Town turned out to have exactly what I needed! When the volunteers there discerned my mom and I were serious about picking up a cat that day, they immediately took us into the visiting room and started bringing us cats they thought would be good fits. The first two were from out on the main floor and weren't particularly friendly, but the third they brought into the room was from the office section and a big sweetheart. Since they had spent some time with her, they knew I was going to be getting a special cat. They also were helpful in answering our specific questions, as we've only ever owned dogs before. I ended up fostering to adopt the third cat, an orange tabby who had been a stray in Rochester. This location gets overflow from other shelters and I find it admirable that they take animals from kill shelters and get them adopted. I'm very glad they have the foster to adopt program here, as I wasn't sure how the cat (who I named Winnie) would get along with my dog. They recommended it over the phone to my mom before we arrived and it worked out well. I'm currently in the process of adopting her. She's a great fit for our family and me especially so I'm grateful to Tabby Town for bringing her out to us. read more

Tabby Town Cat Adoption is a fantastic addition the the McKinley mall for many reasons. The idea of putting an adoption centre somewhere with constant foot traffic (well, at least some foot traffic) gives these beautiful little kitties some constant exposure and unlimited chances to find a new home. This place kind of looks like a mall pet store from the outside but when you enter you start seeing a mixture of fixtures for the cats to eat, sleep, and of course play in (even though they are all usually just sleeping). Upon walking around over the weekend I saw a few cute little pals that seemed pretty content to somewhere nice and warm for the winter and the staff that was working all seemed very friendly and actually cared for the animals that they were watching. I think this is a fantastic place to adopt a furry little friend and if you live in the area you should definitely come by and check this place out! read more

This is a cozy little cat adoption center located on the inside of the mall. They also have a small section with cat related items for sale- home decor, cat toys, and food dishes, litter boxes, carriers, etc. First off, I see some other reviews saying it smells bad in here. It definitely does have a smell to it, but being a small space with many animals, you have to expect it to have some kind of odor. It isn't terrible, and the cats litter boxes are clean. This is a very clean facility. Many of the kitties are allowed to roam free of their cages, which is nice. Most are friendly, and if they aren't, they stay in the cage and it is labeled as such. The loss of one star comes from the employees who work here. I realize it is volunteer work and you get who you get, but some of those women in there are absolutely unbearable. I am 27 years old, I don't need to be followed around and reminded to use hand sanitizer between petting each cat. Hang a sign for the love of god. I really don't like to be approached when I'm just looking. If I'm interested, I'll come to you. That being said, I have adopted 2 cats from here in my lifetime. One, they were happy to see go home, the second, they gave us trouble like we weren't fit pet parents and I was disgusted. But it seems to be the same woman who bothers me every time I go in there, so what else would I expect. I definitely would shop here more often, since buying my cat's items from here would help as a donation to this place. But since I really don't like being followed around by employees, I usually wait outside of here while my family goes in to look around and don't even go in. I appreciate what this organization does for animals and have adopted two great cats from them. I hope they continue to stick around for awhile because of that. read more

We had been pet'less for many years. Then, a little over three years ago, my husband came home with a cat from Tabby Town. After I got over my initial "What the frig were you thinking??!!???!!" shock, I soon realized that he had brought me my absolute very favorite gift he's ever given me. I got my beautiful cat from here about four months ago. Cheryl helped me meet my cat and she was so nice and helpful. Nova had to be fixed before I could get him which they said would take about a week. A week later I call back and I ask about the cat and I am told to call back later. I call the next day and the person who answered said that she doesn't know where the cat is and hung up on me. I thought that was very strange... About three days later someone called me from tabby town and tell me I can come adopt him whenever. I rush over fill out the adoption paperwork and take him home. Everyone there that day was extremely nice. It would definitely be a five star if I did not get treated like I was bothering the person who hung up on me. I still don't know why that happened. From what it appears - Tabby Town is a cat rescue adoption center! However, there are a lot more items in this place then the ones that MEOW! If you have a "Cat Lover' in your family or on your shopping list - this is one place you will want to visit. Though the place does have a bit of a urine odor at times - ignore the smell and take a look around. You might not leave with a car or kitten in tow, but you just might find that perfect "Cat Lover" gift. We found a list of items we will return for and I know the cat lover in my family will smile a lot when she opens some of these unique gifts! There are normally a fair number of feline friends here to adopt as well - so before you go to an expensive pet store - check this place out. I am surprised that people have found this place to be unclean or smelly. I have never found that to be the case. For a pet shelter, it seems very clean. There are also several hand sanitisers. From my experience, the staff/volunteers have always been friendly and happy to help. Even if you aren't looking to adopt, it is a pleasant place to stop in and browse and give the cats some attention. They also have cat toys and general cat themed items. They have a meet and greet room, and the cats have good descriptions on their cages. They also take turns to freely roam the store. read more

Help clean, get the word out for adoption, buy supplies, or save an animal. Please do not criticize an agency helping for the good of us all. Tabby Town has taken (and is taking another) a cat this writer found left to die on the streets. It costs lots of money to get these animals spayed/neutered, fed, and keep them maintained. I can't possibly give this a better rating strictly based on the fact that I was with 6 other people and the second we opened the door we shut it turned around and walked away. We couldn't even go in! I understand a cat rescue place is going to smell a bit with 15+ cats but IT WREAKED... LIKE AMMONIA! The pee smell was so strong it was unbearable. And I live with roommates who own 4 cats! This was repulsive & disgusting! I can't say how the conditions were because I didn't go in but I have been in there before and it seemed ok but it must have went down hill. Poor cats they need to hire someone who does their job and cleans the litter boxes regularly! Yuck! read more
