The area was our first stop on our American Cruise Lines River Cruise and a short bus ride from the dock. Our group took one boat and we were easily loaded on and viewing was easy. Just remember the golden rule. "Keep all body parts in the boat." we were definitely reminded of this rule through the whole trip as people tend to lean over the side. After you see your first alligator swiming up to the ship you remember that they see you as bait. Our driver / tourguide was feeding them marshmallows which was actually fun to watch. It wasn't just the gators... We saw wild raccoons and boar. This was truly a wild game park [swamp.]. No trained animals here. An old cemetery, tee pees and great views just rounded out the whole trip. This was fun and I added a few photos to go with this narrative. This was not your typical narrated scripted tour (yawn)…read more To say it was nothing short of amazing is an understatement. Our guide took us on a full blown adventure! Creeping through tranquil inlets & speeding down a maze of channels. We explored crawfish nets (I snatched one out of the trap for further inspection), we took a plethora of breath taking photos (now posted on Facebook), braced ourselves as we raced through dense thick floating vegetation yet sailed right through like it wasn't there (our guide "Albert" reveled in the expected surprised looks on our faces). He sped us in circles to agitate the carp just below the surface causing them to leap out of the water for our entertainment. We got a brief glimpse of a gator just before he ducked down into the water. In addition to this memorable experience the guide was extremely knowledgeable regarding to the entire ecosystem. This is a must do experience if you are a visitor to Louisiana or even a local (my fiancé booked the tour whom is a local). Have fun!!

My partner and I have some experience paddling and wanted plenty of time to see wildlife and get deep in the swamp for the best scenery, and for us the extended tour was the right choice! I'd recommend it to visitors to New Orleans who love nature, the outdoors, and/or getting a fun and unique workout in during vacation. We were on the water for about 4 hours. Sunscreen, sunglasses, shoes you don't mind getting wet, and PLENTY of water are a must! There are stops at a truck stop right before and after for the bathroom and buying any drinks/snacks, plus a stop on dry land during the tour. Our guide Nick was clearly dedicated to both paddling and nature even outside of work, and our tour felt less like a scripted performance as some tours can be and more like a buddy was showing and telling you things he was passionate about. We saw several small alligators, barred owls, hawks, turtles, and water birds. It was unseasonably warm so the reptiles were a treat to see, and it was awesome getting to see owls out in daylight which I'd never be able to pick out myself. Bring binoculars if you have them! My only small complaint, which has nothing to do with the tour itself: the AI-generated content on the company's Instagram page is kind of weird. Photos and videos from actual tours would be more honest and enticing!

It's way better than you think it is. We probably should have gotten more. We had kids ranging from 4-12. This event was perfect for every age. Brianna was so patient and encouraging with all of the animal interactions. Things that I'm used to telling my kids, "no, don't touch!" She no only encourage touching, but holding, feeding and even riding one of the biggest tortoises, who was more than happy and not even bothered, he just wanted snacks. Holding the gator and some of the other reptiles was an absolute highlight of the trip. If you want something more interactive and family friendly, I highly recommend this spot. I can't say enough praises and I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
