Our server kept pressuring to upsell us, refused to tell us prices on things, tried to add extra items to our order and tried to give me the wrong (more expensive) check. And when I called her out she got rude with me. You're very much paying for the "show" of the place. $50 for 3 bottles of water is insane. $30 for a drink that was more shaved ice than drink. We originally booked a reservation for Taboo and the restaurant was booked for a private event with no knowledge to us. The manager from Taboo sent us via taxi to this restaurant as it was a sister company. We were greeted by management by shots and promise for a good time. The food was okay but not as good as expected. The music was repetitive. Then once we received the check we were charged for the "inconvenience shots". We were told that we would have a ride back to our hotel, just to be denied that service. Before walking 15 minutes back to my resort the manager decided to take us back in his own personal vehicle. The customer service was poor. The communication with bookings and just in between restaurants is poor. Then to be talked to in a degrading manner, when all you're trying to do is follow up on the promises that were told to you, is very disrespectful. Spent $400 USD to be treated poorly. The food here is very tasty and cooked to perfection. We had a bunch of appetizers and entrees. The ones that stood out to me were the jumbo shrimp, ribeye steak and potatoes, spicy feta, black truffle oil with pita, and that one sweet filo dough appetizer. It's a great place to take visitors because the atmosphere is very cool and the entertainment is great. They have sparklers go off and people playing violin and saxophone live and both staff and diners get lit in there. I visited taboo while in Mexico on a trip with my close friends. We went roughly around 1300 - when we arrived it appeared as though the venue just opened-- however it was breathtaking. We were immediately sat. Our party consisted of roughly 12. The views are to die for. If you're looking for something scenic and romantic while visiting, maybe for a date or just an upscale dining venture this would be it. We stayed at the Omni and the venue was down the street so if you're at any of the resorts on that strip this is a very nice alternate place to dine. I ordered the seafood balls, the muscles a rigatoni type pasta and a strawberry mojito. The seafood balls consist of a melody of seafood, I a lot of squid/octopus . They're served with Two different white sauces. They were both delicious. The muscles in my opinion could be sold across the nation. Hands down my absolute favorite thing on the menu. The muscles were fresh (green muscles) and the garlic wine reduction was SOOOO GOOD. My pasta entree wasn't good as well but they had a stuffed ravioli and the sauce they used for that was also to die for. Management was no more than accommodating- they even gave us free shots -- probably for spending so much so early in the day. As we could tell they're more so a night time /dinner establishment. I would definitely revisit. The service the ambience everything was impeccable. They even split the bill for us and notated our total cost in both dollars and pesos in order to make it easy for us. They do accept major credit cards / bank cards as well - in case your low on pesos or didn't get enough at currency exchange. Shout out to management for such a great establishment. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and can not rave about it enough. We ordered hookah as well- they use another word for it which i can't remember at the moment. Based on reviews and proximity, tried taboo cancun. LOTS OF FUN! (If you're under the age of 25). Really lots of fun, but LOUD, mediocre food and very dark. Don't bring young children or anyone with hearing issues. The ceviche was really low on my list (and I sample everywhere). Expensive for what you get. Loved watching the Spring Breakers in their outfits, smoking hookahs. If you want good food and an atmosphere where romantic does not mean dark, go somewhere else. There are so many holes in the wall that have better food and a more intimate atmosphere. read more

Phenomenon evening celebrating our anniversary! Reservation was ready when we arrived. Everything was beautiful. Waiters were efficient and pleasant. The flat bread was yummy. I was pleased with the drinks and lamb chops.! Cooked perfectly. The burger was salty , we sent it back and was still charged for it even after requesting it be taken off. Only two bites were taken. Anniversary show was exciting! Sparklers and everything with a odd tiramisu that has banana in it. Tasty yet "different ". They had a super fun violin show that night that got me off my feet. So fun. Taboo is a vibe! My friend and I recently visited Cancun and made a last minute reservation to dine. From the minute we walked in the door the energy was infectious. The young lady at the hostess stand was very polite. Although we had a reservation we waited about 15 mins to be seated. Walking to our table you could see groups of people enjoying the loud music, bottle service and sparklers, and artist were even playing instruments table side. The food was amazing. The Nigerian Rock shrimp and Lobster Linguine with white sauce was to die for. I will say appetizer, dinner and drinks for 2 came to about $400 usd but we didn't mind it much because the food was amazing and the service was on point. We ordered the clam pasta (good and buttery), mussels that seemed to be in the same sauce as the clam pasta, patatas bravas (potatoes weren't crispy which was disappointing), and we ordered the seafood tower which was good but that was definitely too salty for our taste buds. Greek salad as appetizers which was bomb!! The food is ok but it doesn't matter because of how enjoyable and vivid this place is. I wish I could remember the name of my drink but that's not the case which shows how much fun I had that night lol I only recall that it had some berries in it & rose petals which the bartender served it with lights and smoke. The entertainment is what makes this place great: a violinist and saxophone player will walk through the crowd making each and every single person's night more memorable. I have been going to Taboo since shortly after it opened. I had mixed results at first, but it seemed to have gotten better. I often had recommended it to people in Cancun as we are in the area for a month every year and know many people here. . I will never recommend it to anyone again. I had made Valentine's night dinner reservations about a month in advance. I specifically asked for a table outside. When we arrived, we were taken to perhaps the worst table in the restaurant, stuck in a back corner inside and not outside on the deck as I requested. I told the maître'd that I asked for an outside table well in advance. He said they didn't have any. I pointed out that only one outside table had people sitting at it and they were plenty of room for us. He said they were for someone else. I told him I had made reservations before them and he could move them. I was very unpleasantly, surprised by the dismissive and combative attitude. Not what I expected for a long time and frequent guest. On top of that, I was very disappointed in the service and the food. Our waiter could not communicate with us at all. He had no idea what I was asking when I asked about Valentine specials and he couldn't tell me about drinks. The food was very bland the service was very slow. The music was so loud we had to yell at each other to communicate. The entrance was jammed with people trying to get in. (Took 20 minutes to get us out check from the time we asked, no wonder it was full.) Rather than a pleasant valentine with my wife, Taboo ruined the evening. This place is out of control. It's a party! If you're looking for a quiet place to have dinner and talk a lot this is not your best bet. The food and service here are both amazing. Salmon on fire right next to the table. Tons is sparklers and performances by a violin guy and saxophone guy. Great place for a big group. Staff was very attentive, friendly, and accommodating whether taking pictures for us, providing new dishware as we transition through meal courses, or keep our glasses filled. -- 5/5 Drinks were great, though I do not remember what I ordered. Usually I make a note of it somewhere... APPs/Salad - Complimentary Gazpachos and pita bread. Definitely loved the flavors of the soup and the dipping oil for the pita bread -- 5/5 - Mussels, get it! If you love fresh mussels sauteed in white wine and having bread to dip in the flavorful sauce, then you'll be satisfied! -- 5/5 - Taboo Salad was oh so refreshing and delicious! The balance of the grilled carrots and toasted sesame seeds complimented the feta cheese and balsamic reduction beautifully! 5/5 Entrée - Salmon - if you like a fire show, they will do the flambee tableside! Overall it was cooked well and tasty, though I wish the skin would have a little more crisp/char to it/ -- 4.5/5. - Spanish Paella... now, maybe my previous experience with paella has set the bar really high, but the dish was overall solid. Preferentially, the bottom rice was not caramelized toasted how I would like my paella to be. However, the small clams were definitely overcooked and a bit dried out. The flavors profile was really good overall, but the execution for the price made it just okay. -- 3.5-4/5. So coming back to the atmosphere. You have the option of sitting on the "inside" portion where there is some A/C or the outer portion where the view is better. Warning though, smoking is allowed on the outer portion. Come for an early dinner if you want a beautiful setting that is not too busy and where you can see the sun set. If you are there to have a night to remember and do not care about the cost, then come later and enjoy it! Fireworks are around 9:10PM and 10:10PM! Just don't fall in the water, please. :) read more

It is more like a club, they have loud music and entertainment. They make you feel extra special when ordering bottles and celebrating your birthday. Omg this place is so amazing. You can't tell from the outside but once you walk in you're met by the most amazing view and ambiance. The service is fantastic and the food is even better. We ordered the catch of the day ceviche and the catch of the day grilled whole fish. Both were absolutely delicious. But before that we were served a charcuterie board that had thee most amazing artichoke dip and stuffed peppers. Their habanero salsa was so tasty! The heat creeps up though so go easy if you're not into sweating while eating. They offer yummy and beautifully crafted mocktails too. Make sure to save room for dessert. We ordered the Italian cheesecake which was to die for. Its nothing like a traditional cheesecake which is why I enjoyed it so much. I get it was a busy evening but i couldnt get anyone to refil my water the entire time..but they had no issue bringing the rest of our table drinks. I can only speak on the food my hubby & i had because i didnt try anyone elses food, the surf & turf sucked! My lobster was overcooked & very salty, it literally felt like a try piece of chicken breaat...my steak was the evening hero, me & my guy actually shared it because his tuna was undercooked. The outside layer was burned, and the center was overly mushy...clearly it was put on high heat & removed because it burned. The reason for 2 stars & not just one is because the birthday girl seemed to really enjoy herself and thats all that matters. But as far as my opinion goes, save yourselves 3 hours of your life & just go somewhere else. The "instagram" worthy view is NOT worth the money you will pay for bad service & crappy food. read more

We went to fine dining establishments each night and this was our favorite. The food was phenomenal, the ambiance was romantic and beautiful and the DJ's vibe was electric. I felt like I was in Ibiza. The wine selection was very good and the staff was attentive. Taboo will be one of the reasons I go back to Cancun soon. read more

Definitely one of the best overall dining experiences that I have ever had. This place is an absolute MUST when visiting Cancun. All of the staff are friendly and obliging. They made my friend's birthday amazing and went out of their way to make her feel special. We had reservations, but it was definitely worth the additional wait to sit outside. Appetizer lamb meatballs were delicious. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and may be the best lamb I have ever tasted. The portions were generous and the food was very well seasoned. The prices are very fair figure about $200 for two with a drink. The tip was included with the check, but I think it's only 10% which is too low for the amazing service we received. I tipped the server the additional cash I had and I wish I had the chance to tip more on my credit card. The videos online do not properly showcase how special this place is. The artistry of the musicians and light show are next level. This place is such a vibe. This is my new favorite restaurant and I will return soon! read more
