My twin sis, mother, and I have made a tradition to coming to Cancun for thanksgiving every year and this time I brought my girlfriend and we absolutely loved it. The guacamole was amazing. The atmosphere is lively, upscale, and clearly designed for people who want dinner to feel like a whole event. Food wise, this is where things fell a bit short for me. I ordered the spicy Maine lobster croquettes, ribeye steak (the smallest) Chambao potatoes and potato mille feuille, and shrimp. While the flavors were there, the dishes came out lukewarm, which was disappointing especially given the price point and wait time for food. At this level, temperature and execution really matter. The food wasn't bad, but for what we paid, I honestly expected more. For comparison, I could have had a stronger overall meal in the Seaport area of Boston at a similar or even lower price point. That said, if you're going for the experience, ambiance, music, and top tier staff, Chambao hits the mark. Just know that the food may not fully match the hype or cost. Went on a Monday in April for my birthday while celebrating in Cancun. The service was kind and the atmosphere was lively. There weren't many pple dinning in that night just a few pple and one group. I ordered the empanadas appetizer and me & my bf ordered the shrimp entree with truffle mash and the burger (all sides are a separate order and cost. even the fries for the burger). A little pricey for Mexico we spent almost $300 for 2 drinks 1 app and 2 entrees. I unfortunately had a stomach bug from the night before so I was only able to keep my cocktail down. Went to this restaurant in Tulum and I don't understand the hype. The place was relatively empty when we came and we were immediately seated. The ambience and decor is definitely to die for. If you're looking for an upscale jungle fuel establishment, this is a place you should go to. Bye if you care about the food, I would suggest not. The menu was extremely limited compared to their Cancun location. And I didn't like that every main needed to have sides purchased separately. It just made everything way more expensive than it needed to be especially since the quality of the food wasn't that great. Even though this is a steakhouse, I do feel like they should add a chicken and a fish option to their menu just to have a little bit more variety. Now getting into the food we had the ceviche. It was very good. I love the presentation of it. It just wasn't the best that I've had. My friends got the lamb chops. They said it was 10 out of 10 in regards to the temperature that it was cooked. The octopus was good. I wish it came with some type of sauce so I feel like there's room for improvement there. For sides, I did get the asparagus and the sweet potato the portions for the sides are definitely great. One thing my whole party agreed on was that the drinks at this establishment was also a 10 out of 10. And I did like that the host allowed us to engage in other libations at the establishment. My friends and I had dinner last night at Chambao. We had dined there on a prior trip and had enjoyed the food and aerial show. This year our experience was quite different and not in a positive way. On the plus side, it is a beautiful place and our food was very good! The wheels feel off the bus on the other aspects of our dining experience. We were questioned about our reservation 3 times before we were seated, as if we were using someone else's name. We were questioned one last time after we were seated about who had made the reservation, almost implying that we no reservation. We were greeted and when we declined cocktails....as we had had several at our hotel, the mood changed. We waited for a very long time for anyone to come to the table with a menu. In fact, no less than 4 different people came to the table to introduce themselves, but we still waited a very long time for service. We were close to getting up and leaving, when someone came by with the selection of meats for our viewing pleasure. When we indicated we had other items on the menu in mind, the mood took another down turn. I think watching the tip dwindle was the determiner of service. Those around us ordering large meals and hookah pipes had multiple wait staff attending to them. We did enjoy the meal once it came, but then waited an eternity for the check. In fact, we had to ask the diners next to us to ask their waiter for find someone to bring us our check.We had been waiting for the aerial show, which was spectacular last visit....this one was very short and not worth the long wait. The bass heavy background music was so loud we could not talk to the person next to us without shouting. A bachelorette party or similar occasion would be more apropos for this venue. We will not be returning as it did not provide the atmosphere and service we had come to expect and enjoy in the past. It feels like you're walking through a rainforest with great lighting and amazing spots for photos. The Staff is very attractive. It's the Vanderpump rules of Cancun. Where to work there, you have to be 8 or hotter. Something is happening during the dining experience every 30 minutes. From live saxophone playing to fashion shows to Cirque du Soleil acrobats to live guitar playing to salsa dancing, there's always something super interactive, which is an over-the-top experience, so just be ready to be entertained at all moments. Noise: My number one complaint is the noise level. It is so loud throughout the entire experience. The music plays 4 to 5 levels too high. The live music is noisy as well. No matter where you're sitting, the noise level is high in the room. So, if you plan on having an intimate date or value conversation with friends, it's very difficult at this location between the entertainment and the overall noise level Expensive: the food price ratio is pretty low overall. You pay for everything from bottles of water to additional chips for your Guacamole. Also, at my table, many (6) of us had the salmon, which was relatively undercooked. We asked for the chef's standard, which was medium, and based on that, I would encourage everybody to do well because half of us didn't like the salmon's cooking level. The portions are pretty large, so bring your appetite, but the quality to the price point, given the other options on the island. It just isn't one of the higher ones. Pro tip: make a reservation. This place is super popular. Pro tip: make sure you wear impressive clothes. This place is trendy, chic, and sceney. Therefore, you should bring a solid fit, or else you will stick out. Pro tip: the cocktail menu is impressive. Make sure you have at least 1. Why not 5 stars: The combination of noise, food quality, and price loses a star. If it only had one or two of these, I would give it 5 stars because it truly is a unique experience. However, as a restaurant first, at its price point, I expect the ability to have a conversation and superior food, so this location loses 1 star. However, if you ever want to go to a Vegas-style nightclub and have an elaborate meal, this is your spot. It is definitely a unique and memorable experience. read more

What an experience!!!! When we walked in it was like its own little jungle oasis! We were greeted with such welcome, we had 3 people waiting on us taking orders and explaining the menu. Ugh, this place was a hot mess. It's a mix between a night club and strip club that happens to serve overpriced food and charges for water. The servers were very attentive which is ultimately part of the strategy to get you to spend more. However, they are super friendly and no knock on them! It's so loud that you have to scream at the person next to you to hear anything, and forget trying to talk to someone across the table. INSANE is the best way to describe it. Now whether that's a bad thing or good thing, that's all based on personal experience because I could see it go either way. It was insane but fun for our table. It was pretty much a steakhouse with a bunch of side quests. Live music, fashion show, aerial art performance, bottle service, party vibes, dinner.. I can't even describe it or list everything but think about any live entertainment and they most likely have it. The entertainment is probably a distraction from their prices because they charge for EVERYTHING and try to upsell. This is the con of it all. I get the "hustle" especially from tourist but damn. They charge for water and every side dish. If you order a steak, that's all you'll get. The vibe gets you suckered into buying a bottle. If your table declines, you are the strong ones. Not us. We ended up getting bottle service. The bottle was around $550 and a 30 second spot light lol Oh yeah, food. Got the ribeye, can't go wrong with that cut but it was lacking salt, mash potatoes.. also bland. The grilled asparagus was good though. They also had bread and w/ different types of butter which was good. A steakhouse with a nice view sounds like a cute little date spot, right? Wrong. Be prepared to be overstimulated. One of several visits to Chambao. Like most of the fantastic restaurants on the lagoon, the view here is spectacular. The restaurant has a chic ambiance and decor. The wind made the wood shutters bang quite a bit though. Luckily it wasn't crowded so it wasn't too noisy aside from the clatter of the wood and the repeated melee of dancers, elevated dance music and sparklers from the orders of bottle service. They aim for an upbeat vibe. Service was excellent. Our head waiter, Oscar, was very attentive and not obtrusive. Food was good. Filet was good but not the best I've had. I'm at a loss for words even just thinking about how it felt to sit there and stare out into the water. Chambao would be beautiful no matter what time of the day it is. It gives that very classic Cancun vibe in which everything is gorgeous and so well decorated. I will say that Chambao is expensive, which is unlike many other places in Cancun. However, I strongly encourage coming. They celebrate you well, and their food and drinks are genuinely delicious. I would pay a higher price tag for all of the items that we ordered. Their cocktails are also super yummy. You truly can't go wrong with anything you order. The staff is incredibly kind and generous, and they celebrated me multiple times throughout the night. If I could recommend any restaurant for tourists to go to in Cancun, Chambao would be it. They even had a fashion show in the middle of the night, which was fun to watch. 5 stars! This was by far our top restaurant in Cancun. TLDR: Do not go to any other steakhouse/seafood house in the Cancun Hotel Zone. They wont compare. Tourism is the only industry in Cancun. It's literally a city where the service is top notch because they need you to come back. It's very impressive for the staff here to take it to the next level and rise above the competition in such a service forward environment. The overall service, the attentiveness, passion and their energy was 5 Star. Oscar and Steven saw to us on our last night of vacation and were amazing. Even getting hugs when we left. We literally had over 30 people seated together, which was successfully done. We ordered a wide range of dishes of course, but I got lobster empanadas and FCK burger. The lobster empanadas were pretty good. FCK burger wasn't the best. Was very rich with cheese, basically too rich... it was really difficult to finish. My friend and I ordered a burger each but we should've shared. Best thing honestly was their butters, especially truffle, with their bread. We ordered a lot of bottles for our tables since there was so much of us, but unfortunately had to buy the more expensive one to get sparklers :( The other restaurants we visited always gave us sparklers regardless of what we ordered, so we were bummed about that. Service was okay. Although they delivered a pretty smooth dinner for such a huge party, the service wasn't the friendliest, compared to our other dinner at Portfirios. Restaurant is super beautiful! Hard to describe the experience in this restaurant. The food is great, the entertainment is great and the service is really great. Let's start with the bread. Sounds crazy, but this was one of the best bread services I've had. The bread came with 3 different flavor infused butters, one with garlic and chives, one with citrus and one with truffles. They were all really amazing. The seabass black ceviche was also the best ceviche we had during our trip. The flavor was tangy and the fish with veggies was really something special. The octopus salad appetizer was pretty good, but probably the only thing I wouldn't get again. The porterhouse was tender and well seasoned, went well with the side of creamed corn we got. The last dish was the seasonal fish dish and that was super good too. We actually ate dinner from 7-11pm, eating and enjoying the multiple shows and celebrations that happen in the restaurant. This is truly an "Instagramable" restaurant. Every corner is gorgeous and the layout of the entrance is beautiful! The show the dancers put on along with the guitarist is breathtaking, I've never seen anything like it before. They also have a mini fashion show with the staff during dinner which I also have never seen anything like it before. As for the food, the only thing that was worth mentioning was the surf and turf tacos. The tacos were amazing and probably the best ones I had the whole trip. As for the raw fish and all the other food, everything was either fishy or just average. Aside from the food, we had a few drinks, good taste but they were very weak. We originally booked a reservation for Taboo and the restaurant was booked for a private event with no knowledge to us. The manager from Taboo sent us via taxi to this restaurant as it was a sister company. We were greeted by management by shots and promise for a good time. The food was okay but not as good as expected. The music was repetitive. Then once we received the check we were charged for the "inconvenience shots". We were told that we would have a ride back to our hotel, just to be denied that service. Before walking 15 minutes back to my resort the manager decided to take us back in his own personal vehicle. The customer service was poor. The communication with bookings and just in between restaurants is poor. Then to be talked to in a degrading manner, when all you're trying to do is follow up on the promises that were told to you, is very disrespectful. Spent $400 USD to be treated poorly.
