Check out the reel to see how we spent our day! We got a cabana that was quite pricey, and half the cost was to spent on food/drinks during your time there. This cost did NOT give our servers a portion of it (like a tip) and is definitely not cool on their (the Rosa Negra Group)part. However, the sushi was fab, we got two of the spicy yellowtail rolls. That roasted sweet potato... baybeee, you'd never think to get that at a beach club but‍ glad we did! The drinks, I got a few mixed drinks (check out the reel), but we also opted for shots and beers. Not gonna lie after reading the reviews I was prepared to deal with some issues but that wasn't the case with my experience! We came here on a Friday in late January and my experience was easy and fun. Do make reservations before so you are not having to wait too long. A lot of people said to make restaurant reservations but we got the ones at the beach club. For this one, it's better to have a big group and pay for a table. For three of us we got a table in the back for 2500 pesos each or about $120. You are able to use half of that for food and drink. If you pay in pesos, the cost is lower than in dollars with the conversion. So in this experience I thought the food and service was amazing. My water was never low and I never had to wait to re order something. The food was delicious. The Greek salad was substantial and fresh. I loved the octopus tacos as well. My favorite was the coconut drink I ordered but honestly all the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere is so fun! They had live music and a good mix of music by a DJ. The body painting was really fun too all you have to do is pay what you think they deserve. The only downside were the bees everywhere trying to get to our sweet drinks. read more

Pros: Food was pretty good! We ordered the "stuffed squid"...but they came unstuffed; delicious to say the least. The sushi was fresh and tasty. We loved the seafood spaghetti! The weather was wonderful that day. Service was great! We liked Vicky and her partners a lot - very attentive. Cons: We ordered 2 very over priced bottles of Don Julio 70th. I don't think anyone in our 6-party group even got a buzz. The feta and red sauce app was weird... as it didn't come with any bread/carbs as it would anywhere else in the whole entire freaking world... it was pretty much tomato soup with a block of feta cheese. My friend, aka the BRIDE, got PLOWED by an umbrella from the wind!!! And NO managers came over to check on her. No food or drinks were compensated. I'm just glad nothing MAJOR happened to her. But she was still sore from the impact of a flying umbrella that weighs 20lbs +. It's crazy that it's a touristy town but don't cater or give to tourists that keep them thriving. We went to Taboo on a Friday for lunch. They charged $140 per person. $70 for entrance and $70 for food and drink. If you spend over that amount you pay the difference. The Beach club is very pretty, picturesque, hookah dancers all around; plenty options for a photoshoot too. The DJ was ok, there was a lot of techno music but a few sprinkles of popular music. Overall I loved the presentation of the food but I didn't always love the taste. The beef tacos were super salty! Made it hard to eat. I really enjoyed the the greek meatballs. This restaurant was our last dinner for that vacation. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. They took us in with no reservation on a Monday night in Jan! Great weather and we found parking right away and walking distance from the restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and friendly! They explained any of the dishes we didn't really know about and when we mentioned it was our friends birthday the waiter told us he had a surprise for us! The DJ was bomb.com!! He played so many good reggaeton throwbacks and new songs that are playing on the radio. The food was good but I probably would have liked it more if I had chosen steak instead of a burger but I def. did like their potatoes. It was pretty loud in there as well...we saw in front of the DJ which made it louder but we got a good view of the violinist. The violinist was superb!! He even came over to our table because he noticed one of my friends singing along to the song he was playing & of course we did because it was a popular song that was in the Netflix show "Money Heist"! It was a really pretty restaurant in the nighttime so I can imagine in the day! There were male & females that would dance a bit..wouldn't call them dancers cause they barely moved lol but the cooler part was the staff telling everyone to get on their chairs and then they gave sparklers!! Taboo is definitely one of the most hyped venues in Tulum. The venue is on the beach. You have to walk in sand to get to the host/checkin area. Reservations: I highly recommend making a reservation. But also keep in mind if you make a reservation it doesn't guarantee you will be sat right away. I made a dinner reservation for two. I didn't realize that I would be sat in an area that wasn't well lit. So during dinner, I couldn't see my food and had to request a light for my table. We received one and then the light was removed randomly and I had to request for a light to be brought back to the table. While eating, because the place we were sat was outside and in the dark. Bugs/ insects did find their way to our table. So if you eat at night and outside beware. If you are vegan I would highly suggest that you eat dinner before arriving or coming to Taboo. They do not have good vegan options. A guest from my party sent back a dish. Food: I ordered the Ribeye and potatoes and the crab legs. The crab legs were amazing. I highly recommend them. The hostesses are amazing with making sure each guest has their necessities. They are really the eye catcher of the bunch. Upon sitting down, we were greeted very well and assisted with drinking and food needs. So below is several photos of what we had and babyyyyyy that food was AMAZE-BALLS . The seafood croquettes, amazing with and without the sauce that come with it. The mini sliders (beef, lamb and portobello mushroom) was to die for... so much flavor and the color of them were super cute, LOVED IT. The beef burger was cooked medium well (which should be how you're getting your burgers in the first place because that way is soooo much better) to perfection. I loved every bite of that burger. The potatoes which are just potato wedges as we like to call it in America were great as well. We also got a bottle of Don Julio, which came with a presentation with sparkler girls and dancing, LOVEDD IT! Definitely suggest you enjoy this good time! Downside: After 6, the beachside service which is bottle service in sections and booths, they are unavailable. The place looks very nice. The music is hip hop techno . This is a party scene. You have to pay at least 5,000 pesos for 2 people to get a seat on the beach, half of it is a food credit. However the beach is a free place , but Taboo will not service you on the beach unless you pay for reserved area. Getting a table on the deck is free, but separates you from the party. It took the waiter 35 mins to bring us an English menu, because the QR code was not working. The waiter could have let us know how large the portions was. They shouldn't service large dinner portions during lunch, after all its a hot beach. My experience could have been better if I knew then what I know now. read more

This place is a tourist trap where cost does not correlate with customer experience(Read Update at end) I went for my birthday with my twin, and it's just not worth it if you are looking for a luxury party experience for your group. We got a sun bed for 4 netting at 214 USD with tip per person. Aside from a fairly distant server who made faces when we just ordered a beer to pace ourselves, I felt a bit forced dancing to music to make the experience more worth it. In sum the music was not great and vibe was definitely not as good as the price of entry promised. We ended up staying for dinner since we were there and to avoid a cover. First, the power cut out THREE times. Second, I expressed I had a very severe sesame seed allergy,tree nut allergy and kiwi allergy. What resulted was my boyfriend sprinting to a pharmacy for Benadryl, and a very aggressive manager not "believing" I could barely breathe in the meantime. I understand miscommunications happen, but when it comes to $38 min for an average plate of pasta you think a kitchen would be a bit more conscientious of their clientele. We told the manager we did not want the food and we needed to leave to seek medical attention, and he yelled at us and ripped the check in our face. UPDATE READ ME: I am not sure what version of events Joshua was told-- but we were NOT offered medical attention.We actually asked if they had Benadryl OR an epi pen which was not on site and were told they could do nothing for us, but there is a pharmacy up the street. In response we sprinted for Benadryl and obviously couldn't eat the food we ordered bc A) Anaphylaxis and b) we had to rush home to my epi pen. What taboo did provide us was a manager who yelled at us and ripped up a check in our face while we were scrambling for medical attention. Parking - I believe they do have a on-site parking and on street parking in this section. I am hoping this is a fluke for us, but we ate and restaurant "partied" at a few spots and Taboo is at the bottom of the barrel. It has an amazing show/ experience and club party feel though!!!! I wish we had known this before making our orders, because then we needed to re-think. When I got my meal, especially, the pasta was clumpy (to me indicating not fresh... sitting for a while before plating), it was supposed to be all clams and I got an assortment of seafood, which was poor quality. There was no Parmesan cheese, and why was parsley on there in place of basil? Really not delicious, unfortunately. We asked if oysters were available, and our waited said yes. DO NOT ORDER. I tried one, and it was terrible. I immediately knew that we were going to get food poisoning, and low and behold.... my predictions came true. The four who ate them were writhing in pain and running to the bathroom for days after. The steaks ordered were asked to be prepared medium rare and I'm pretty sure they were barely seared, almost gelatinous. Third, some bar items were not available. I'm a big fan of martinis, and lack of olive juice crushed my heart. So at other Tulum restaurants, we experienced top-notch service, presentation, and wow-factor entertainment. I had the salmon that they torch in front of you. The veggies were so disgusting that I literally spit them out as soon as I put them in my mouth. We had a guy playing some very upbeat violin and it was my friend's birthday so it was super cool that they bring people over with sparklers to celebrate. It was like a big party the whole time so definitely not a place to bring kids. The food was not amazing. I only liked 2/4 things we got. The cauliflower au gratin and the piquillo peppers were BOMB! Didn't care for the seafood croquettes and through the potato bravas were terrible. The dessert they brought for my friend looked beautiful but was honestly not good tasting. I was not the one who tipped at the end of dinner, but I was the last one to get up and the server pulled me aside and asked for more money as a tip and took out his calculator and everything he which was super uncomfortable. I decided to visit this restaurant due to its popularity on IG and I must say that this place is overrated. The ambiance is nice and the decor is to die for but that's really it. My menu was missing was page and when I realized, I tried to change my order maybe 1min after the order was placed and no luck. It took 15mins for us to get water and then almost an hour for the food. Now for the food. I can honestly say it was mediocre. The lamb burger had the weirdest consistency. It tasted as if it wasn't fully cooked. I ate about 25% of it. The clam pasta had about 10 clam/mussel shells and 7of them were empty. The pasta was okay for a white wine base. This place is a must visit for the ambience alone. It's on the beach, there's a pool near the seating area for the restaurant right before you step onto the beach, there is also a dj playing and a bar that is right on the beach. The seats for the bar are these cool little swings. You might even get to see the donkey roaming around like we did. He's very friendly by the way. Unfortunately we arrived too late in the day to get a cabana. The beach part of the restaurant was closing. The vibe here was amazing. It was vibrant and fun. A bottle of water was bought to our table that was on ice with grapes. I had the seafood paella. It was very tasty but way too big for one person. It's a good time but it's not something I would center my trip around. Also wouldn't pay a huge fee to be there. Not enough people tell you that you can get a table or sit at the bar for free. Services was great, drinks were great, music not that good. Prices were fair being that you get a very nice scene. read more
