I stumbled across Tacabron on my way home from downtown Forest Park. It looked interesting but I just had dinner so it made my want to go list. Fast forward a couple of months and my brother and I decided to give it a try. I had fish tacos and my brother got a steak burrito. The fish tacos were grilled tilapia with a hint of lime. They were so good I ordered a second order to take home and share with the husband. I have been back a few times since trying new things off the menu. Tonight our server greeted our table with chips and salsa; the salsa was so tasty we ordered some to go home. We had a steak quesadilla to share. The steak was tender and substantial. It was actual steak cooked medium and I think it was Oaxaca cheese, I highly recommend. I also had the enchilada dinner, this really brought me back to my trips to Mexico. I chose the green salsa as my stomach can not take spicy. You have a choice of steak, chicken, cheese, or Veggie ( grilled squash). I chose one of each steak, chicken, and Veggie. My dining friends both had burritoes chicken and the other asked if they could do the tilapia in a burritoes and they dud. Both were excellent. Tacabron is one of my favorite TACO PLACES. The food is authentic and delicious. I live near North ave and Harlem and there is no place close to us that has great authentic Mexican food. Today my husband took our daughter to her soccer game and picked up tacos after the game. I know they were super busy because it's May 10th (Mexican Mother's Day). My husband gets home and everyone's order is in there but mine. I call them and they put me on hold. What else could I do? I drove 4 miles back to TACABRON. I have to say the lady taking the orders with the curly hair in the pony tail is a GEM. Very kind and friendly. I told her and she offered me an extra taco for having to go back. The short girl who was working the front was not happy. She must have thought I was lying but I don't know who would drive back 30 minutes later and lie about an order. I always tell everyone how great this place it. Please double check the orders. No one wants to go back for missing food. All that said, thank you to the lady with the curly hair pony tail. I recently just tried Tacabron. It's a Mexican restaurant in Forest Park right off the Harlem exit of I290. It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth checking out. First, the food is very good. I ordered the chicken burrito, chicken burrito bowl, quesabirria tacos, churros, a lime margarita and a mango margarita. I enjoyed all of the dishes I tried. I particularly liked the quesabirria tacos. The meat tasted very good and it was very cheesy. The consommé for the quesabirria tacos was also good. Of the margaritas, I liked the mango margarita the best. Second, the the service was very good. The restaurant is best described as quick service. You order at the counter, and then they will bring your food. They are very fast at preparing my food and bringing it to me. Third, I liked the atmosphere. It was laid back. There are several wooden benches. I would describe the decor as rustic. In sum, this is a must visit Mexican restaurant. read more

Pastor Tostada. This was my first time trying this restaurant. A few people told me to try it out. I was very disappointed the meat was burned and the tostado was stale so were their chips. I ordered a birria taco and it was dry. I did enjoy the shrimp taco. The waitress was really nice. read more

We have been here a few times. We have done take out and ate in. if you eat there you're given chips and salsa. The chips are really good, crunchy and fresh. The green sauce is mild and red is hot. They have specials on tacos on Tuesdays. My favorite taco is the fish, you can get it grilled or fried. My husband enjoyed his tamales, too. They also have a quality margarita! We moved near this Forest Park location during the pandemic and were very pleased with their take-out menu. LOVE the taco salads, the elote is delicious as are the margaritas and the only reason I didn't give a 5 star review is due to their use of styrofoam for take-out and always including plastic silverware without asking if it's needed. We really try to limit our use of plastics. We haven't eaten there in a couple of months, so perhaps that has changed. We'll check in next time we want to order from them. I LOVE everything about this restaurant. I'd heard other local folk's reviews and read the Yelps so I've been wanting to stop by for months. Tacabron got bumped to the very top of our Must Visit list today because they were the only restaurant that was open- or the only one to answer the phone to say "Yes, we are open" on Labor Day. Not to disparage any restaurant for closing on Labor Day. I think that is completely reasonable. But we were thrilled to learn Tacabron was open all day and we are so glad we stopped by. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you in the really modern, bright and sparkly clean dining room. The dining room was quiet and tables nicely spaced so we didn't feel crowded at all. Cool music was playing. There was a great vibe. There is a self-service salsa bar that was wonderful! I highly recommend the guacamole salsa and super fresh pica de gallo. My vegetarian enchiladas meal was massive. Just ask for grilled vegetables as your "meat". There were other vegetarian options so I will have to return to report on those but my date reports the chorizo was outstanding in his steak and chorizo taco platter. And he is picky about chorizo! First - know that there are plenty of meats to choose from. You have your typical Mexican types you'll find in many places - carne asada, pollo, barbacoa... but check this...milanesa!!! Milanesa de pollo, de res...milanesa for days! Next, though I haven't tried it, they're known for the El Tacabron "signature taco." I won't spoil it, you have to go to and find out. I'm going back to try it. Okay, the food we had... awesome! Started with their chips and salsa. Chips are perfect. And you MUST try their salsa bar. Verde, red, guacamole salsa (whaaat??!!!), and much more. All done from scratch and great. We enjoyed the quesadillas platter, the milanesa taco platter, and a pollo y milanesa taco platter. No peppers or carrots! We go back up front to order our food. I get 3 chicken tacos, make it a platter. Rice and beans. I also order 1 hot chicken tamale, and politely ask for peppers and carrots with my dinner. Chicken tacos good, rice and beans good! They bring out a 2 tamale platter, with more rice and beans. Tamales were good. I did not get my peppers and carrots. The ambiance can best be described as family. Tables appeared clean but a little sticky. This place has really good food. The first time I came I had tacos de carne asada and an horchata. The horchata is one the best I've had. The tacos were also tasty and filling. I came back and decided to have the 3 tacos with the plate (beans and rice) and it was super tasty. For the food the 3 tacos + plate + horchata it came to be about $16 something which I thought was very reasonable. The interior is spacious. When you walk in your order your food and then you go sit and they bring your order to you. There's plenty of tables available. Beware! New owners- food has completely changed. I was told the previous owners took the Tacabron recipes with them so expect totally different food. For example, they have some tweaking that needs to be done to the salsas. Both were thick in consistency and had heat but little flavor. Prices on website are not accurate as of June 22, 2023. We all got steak tacos on corn. We opted to dine in too. They have a cool little salsa bar where you choose salsas, peppers, etc. Our food came out in literally 3mins. Indication of cold/not fresh food. Which I was correct, my food wasn't fresh or hot. Bummer! Then the meat was grade B. I've tried other local Mexican restaurants in the area, but didn't find one I liked until I tried Tacabron about two months ago. I walked in and placed my order for two Steak Burrito's with no beans. I was impressed with their very friendly and unassuming service, making sure my take-out order was correct before charging my card. The Burrito's were the best I have tasted since the demise of "Inos" on Roosevelt Rd in 2020. In recent weeks, I have also tried their Steak Nacho Bowl, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and WILL order again. This is a local taco Tuesday place, and I'm really glad it opened! $2 tacos, but they also have a lot of other specials on every other day of the week. We came around 630 on Tuesday, and the place is actually empty. By the time we ordered, there were many more people there in a line. It was a little bit we are the decoration, everything was green, little earthy plants feel, but it was very clean. The highlight was definitely the salsa bar, there were so many options, and you're able to serve yourself and mix however you want. I feel that all the taco options were good, I especially like the grilled fish. They ask you if you want lettuce and tomato or cilantro and onion, which threw me off because typically you're not given the option, or all of us on. You're able to ask for all four, which is nice. Service was friendly and attentive, no question, and the place was clean / inviting (tables, chairs, walls, bathroom - all looked great). Prices were also fair since it's a counter order setup with no table server. The food, unfortunately, was only average. Not bad at all, don't get me wrong, but it was nothing special. I really wanted to like this place more (especially because they managed to work in a profane word in their business's name) but it just lacked flavor. We had steak, chorizo, pastor and chicken tacos. We also had red enchiladas and a torta but it was just so-so. I'd go back after a long while. Maybe we caught them on an off night. It's what I call, not quite fast food. Daily specials, extensive meat choices , like goat, pork, chorizo, etc I ordered a couple of tacos. The cashier gave me number and I took a seat. I ordered the grill chicken tacos with corn tortillas. The waitress allowed me to taste their Margaritas. Three different varieties. Yummy and they had quite 'kick to them. A little pricey for me. $7.95. I had to pass. The tacos arrived they were small, but pretty tasty. The have a salsa bar that allows you to pick your level of 'hotness. It a good local place.
