Ok these tacos were extremely fire. They corn tortilla seem to be made to order! Soooooo fresh. The tortillas were hotter than the asada lol! . Asada tender and seasoned. Great location and portions. Wasnt busy and they forgot 1/5 tacos i ordered. Paid for 5 and rice and beans came out to $25. That means 4.80 an item smh. Sauces are really good. Mainly because they use small pieces of chicken in it and it's the perfect chicken, cheese, tortilla ratio. This is actually pretty hard to find (at least to meet my ridiculous preferences). I'm a regular at Tacatz, about once a week. In a word, it's about the salsa. Drizzle the red or green salsa on anything he serves and it will take the food to a whole new level. With that said, the food is great on it's own too. Best refried beans I have ever had. Rice isn't too shabby either. Burritos are my go-to. My son says the chicken fajitas blow away anything in the Tri-cities. Huge menu, something for everyone. Also, during lent they have shrimp tacos with a great sauce. Update: I reached out to the owner who was very accommodating. I ordered no onions through the app. He has onions in his meat, which was the reason he didn't put very much in. Although the replacement burrito was way-heavy on filler, the taste was fantastic, the net burrito weight had to approach that of a medium-sized kitten, and I'm proud to support a true mom and pop shop. Earlier one-star review: Ordered a burrito through Uber eats. They were fast but two bites in I had to unwrap the burrito as I tasted no meat. All beans and rice. So first of all, Tacatz definitely needs some more love on Yelp. Hopefully some more yelpers get over here and check this place out. The service: The man working was extremely friendly and accommodating. He was willing to edit anything on the menu to be to our liking, and said he reminds all of his guests they'll adjust anything. The food: We had chicken tacos, a side of elote, and a fajita wrap. The food was a win all around - simple and delicious! The spot: Really underwhelming. It was not a place you'd want to stick around and eat in. We got our food to go. To go: This was a big problem. Considering the restaurant LOOKS like it's mostly to-go orders, the food spilled in the bag before I even left the restaurant. By the time I got home the bottom of the bag actually fell apart and the food fell out. Luckily I had a towel in my car to put the bag on...but what a mess. That was pretty disappointing. Overall, I'd give Tacatz another try. But I really hope they amp up their interior a bit and get a web presence so people can view their menu online, etc. read more

Great food, great prices! My husband got a chicken burrito and it was huge and flavorful. My pork tamale wasn't dry like many tamales are; it was cooked really nicely but was spicier than I expected! Not in a bad way. The steak taco with cilantro and onions also wasn't dry - neither the meat nor the tortillas. It was the best I've had in the area. The kids loved their ham and cheese quesadilla. Plus rice and beans, all for about $20! Everyone cleaned their plates. We took the food to go. The gentleman working seemed nice - we're all about supporting local businesses like this. I have been a few dozen times now. The Chicken tacos are pretty decent. The steak burrito was pretty bland for the high price. The elote is good. I would recommend getting the Horchata. The steak taco was OK, I thought the steak although tender was rather bland and not quite enough cilantro/onion etc. They did not skimp on lime, received one half. The guacamole was homemade and had an extra zing of lime flavor which was great. Price was under $4, great deal. Was disappointed...no homemade horchata! First time here and was way underwhelmed. Ordered three steak tacos, because if the tacos suck, you can rest assured the rest will follow. First thing I noticed is that nothing comes with cheese on it. Nothing. Burrito, Torta, Taco, doesn't matter. Don't forget to ask for cheese if that's what you like. Got my food, and the steak is chopped and pulverized into microscopic pieces. I am always leery of any mexican place that chops their food up so fine. What is it they are hiding? Tacos had almost no meat, tiny bit of lettuce, tiny bit of cheese and one very thin half-slice of tomato. Not even close to $6.50 worth of food. They are on full size tortilla, but I've seen miniature street tacos, with more on them. The tacos tasted pleasant enough, though the meat seemed more like seasoned ground beef than steak. If you are looking for a meaty Chicago style taco like at Zaca or Paco's, forget about it, this isn't the place. You'll spend ten bucks and still leave here hungry. On a side note, I had a bizarre exchange with the woman behind the counter. I asked for a small cup of water, as I can't drink soda. She told me "We don't actually have any cups to give out." which was bullshit. On the counter behind her were two 4 foot tall stacks of small Styrofoam cups. I pointed to the stack and said "How about one of those?" She then said, "...well we actually don't have any water to give out". Ummm, OK. I said tap water would be fine, She then proceeded to tell me that the Geneva tap water was unfiltered and unsafe to use. "I'll risk it." I said and that was that. Like I said, just kind of bizarre. If you want god tacos in the area, this is the last place I'd drive to. Jalapeno Grill in St. Charles is 100x better. read more

At our workplace, we have always wanted a good Mexican restaurant within distance. When we heard about Tacatz Tacos opening up, we were quite excited about it. The few times we have tried their food has always been good, and with good prices to match too! However, every time we have ordered from here, they always get the same thing wrong. That order is this: Anything that is supposed to be Chicken is always replaced with Steak! Whether it be tacos, burritos, or even the fajita wrap, if we order Chicken, we always get Steak! Even if the wrapper of whatever food it is says Chicken, it will always be Steak! Because of this, we are thinking of going here less often. read more
