I've never tried the restaurant next door but, the bar has a super chill vibe. Most of the bartenders are awesome like Mary and Brandon, but tonights bartender, Kelly, had a terrible attitude. I came in, alone , around 6 pm and Brandon was still on day shift trying to do closing work and serve drinks at the same time. The night shift bartender, Kelly, had a bad attitude as soon as she came in and tried to interrupt my conversation with the other bartender to get my drink order and acted very annoyed when I wasn't ready to order. I only had one cocktail and went back to the beach to watch the volleyball games. When the games were over I came back to Tackle Box with a group of 8, which didn't help her mood at all. After only one round, Kelly decided to express very loudly that she wasn't making enough money and disappeared into the back for 5 minutes, so several of us decided to leave because we didn't like her attitude. Our group would have stayed for at least a couple of hours, with some of us being servers ourselves, tipping her very well. read more

Great place for the after party. Can get a little wild but it's always a mix between local crowds and vacationers. Open late and the drinks are always cold! Nice little corn hole spot in the back and some outside seating. The bar and outside needs to be cleaned and kept clean, more especially when the ashtrays and sand areas are littered with trash and cigarettes. The bar area was nice but tables weren't cleared out and a good majority of the tables had old bottles and trash on them. We cleaned our own tables and asked for a wet rag to wipe ours off. Always fun to end the night here. Def a local dive bar feel. read more

What a niche little bar! This place was very much beached out, complete with naked mermaid decor and hanging tackle. It's definitely a dive, but that's kind of why I love it. The bartenders were very friendly and quick. Awesome little fenced in outdoor patio for seating and cornhole, if you're up for it. We had a very good time here. Incredibly cheap for a bar on the beach. Be aware, they only take cash! But there's an ATM in the corner so you'll be covered regardless. Been coming to The Tackle Box for 4 years now. This is my home away from home. I have met so many wonderful people here and all the bartenders are so amazing. I've been to other bars here but nothing compares to the Tackle Box. This place is the best bar on the island....hands down. Also the owners Janice and Rich ...are fun to be around and treat their employees and customers with the utmost respect. Was on vacation with some friends didn't even walk two steps into the bar when the female bartenders started whaling their arms around yelling at my friends because she had a water bottle in her hand. We didn't know we couldn't bring it in but she didn't need to scream get out get the f*** out of here over and over. So confused by the way she screamed at us. My friends and I all have worked in the service industry and came in there with all intentions for fun and to spend some money. Don't know what her deal was but she refused to serve us. Also witnessed her do the same thing to a couple of young African American guys. They screamed and kicked them out because 2 out of the 5 guys didn't order a drink right away. Blown away by that. was just at the tackle box yesterday. i was blown away by how rude i was treated. i walked in, there was no greeting of any kind. i myself said "hey, how are you?" to the bartender, and got no response. i then asked what the specials were. in a very sarcastic way the bartender points to an unlit board and tells me "what ever's written on that". then she asks for my i.d. i give her my i.d. card. the bartender proceeds to tell me the person in the picture isnt me, and she cant serve me. Being that the person in the picture is me, i was confused. So just to prove my point further, i pull out my social security card. she says " i cant serve you". thats when another lady who i guess just got off of her shift asks if she can see my card. she looks at my card, and says "well, youve gotten a little darker, but i can tell its you". the working bartender, then repeats, "i cant serve you". felt like the segregated south days. im younger, so i never experienced such blatant racism. a term i try not to throw around loosely. but i dont know what else this lady's problem couldve been. read more
