You will find a diverse crowd of various ages, social classes and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Everyone is welcome and you can dress casual or come in your wedding attire, as some have done to continue the party! They do get crowded in the summer and you will have to be patient to get a drink. The owners Matt and Ashley have always got something fun lined up every night of the week. Follow them on social media for updates. They have also been honored as an official Carolina Hurricanes bar and you can find most sports events available there besides the Canes. The place itself has a great laid-back beach-bar vibe however the attitude behind the bar just didn't quite match it. The 3 star rating is primarily based on that fact. We took a weekday trip to the beach at the end of July and were pleasantly surprised to find Tacklebox Tavern open late on a Sunday night and it was karaoke night too! The bar was fairly busy for a Sunday, with a fun mix of locals and travelers and an age range that seemed to go from early 20s all the way into the 60s. The crowd was friendly, the drinks were cheap, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed for a fun Sunday night at the beach! My biggest complaint was the service. The bartenders consistently seemed annoyed and irritated, and at times it felt like simply ordering a drink was an inconvenience to them. I completely understand that working behind a busy bar can be hectic, but the attitude was noticeable enough that it took away from an otherwise really enjoyable experience and was mentioned by multiple patrons.
