The word Molcajete is Spanish for mortar and pestle and comes from the Aztec word meaning seasoning and bowl, these are tools traditionally made from volcanic rock. If you ask me, we've had a difficult time retaining restaurants in town but the really quality places stay, and leave an impression. Molcajete is one that people will come to Excelsior for, and hopefully enjoy our charming town in the process. Tacos al pastor- 3 marinated pork tacos, this is some of the best al pastor around! Tacos de carne asada- 3 grilled chicken or steak tacos. All of the above LOADED w meat, cilantro and onions with tomatillo sauce on the side that's not for the common gringo. (You got this) Tacos Mexicanos under specialties, this is our favorite, loaded w steak and chorizo, cilantro and onions, I've not found a better street taco anywhere! Choripollo is the bomb with chirizo and chicken breast smothered in cheese with rice and beans. Another go to in my family.
