We came here on a weekend afternoon and we were the only ones in the restaurant for a little bit before a few other customers strolled in. There were 13 of us and we ordered on one tab and the food came out staggered as we sat at a few tables on one side of the restaurant. We ordered things like the crispy Taco plate, the California burrito, breakfast burrito, fajitas plate, and fries, among other things. Everyone liked what they got. I did feel like the meat tasted a bit charred in some instances and then a bit salty in others. The tortilla chips are also not complimentary. But overall the food came out fast, even if it was a little more like the meat was not super freshly grilled. But again, everyone liked their food and I think the prices were also very reasonable for 13 people (includes 4 kids). read more

Loved my tacos and my date made two meals out of the carne asada! The salsa verde was a great addition and I wished I had more to take home. The shop is cute and has several seats if you'd rather not eat over your lap in the car. ;) The two guys working were cooking, filling orders, keeping the place tidy and still were very pleasant. One of the best birria burritos ever! The meat was perfectly cooked with so much flavor, cheese, rice, guacamole, and peppers it was fully loaded and it was huge I could only finish the first one at the restaurant the service was great, and we took our time because it was our first time there but the food came out so fast and fresh. Absolutely! Hadn't ever been to this place before and thought we'd give it a go. Table needed a good wiping again but it was busy and they sst us quick enough so I overlooked. Our service was excellent. We even discovered our similar love for curved tortilla chips, which we had a moment over. Food portions were really good sized. I managed 2 meals and snack from my chimichanga. Delicious. The husband got 2 meals from his as well. Definitely coming back!! read more

Horrible service. I ordered delivery straight from their resturaunt and they didn't have bread to make my sons torta. It was $13 and I called up to get a refund and they said we are closed. Delicious and affordable. I absolutely recommend checking out their daily specials prior to ordering . There are always some great hidden gems in those daily specials . Authentic and always fresh. Best California Burrito that I've had in Kansas City! Living in the southwest and San Diego spoiled me when it comes to inexpensive, and delicious taqueria cuisine. I've tried lots of places across the area, but none quite did the trick. I saw photos of Macarenas food on social media and it was enough to get me to make the 30 minute drive out to Liberty. I ordered the California Burrito with extra crispy fries and a Horchata to wash it down. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, the pico de gallo was fresh and flavorful and added a whole nother dimension to the burrito. It wouldn't be a California Burrito without guac and fries and Macarenas has a great ratio of both in each bite. Looking forward to exploring the menu and trying all the burritos. read more

Macarena's fills a much needed void in the Northland / Liberty area. Although abundant in KCK and KC's Northeast, taquerias in the Northland are pretty rare - I only know of 4 others. Not quite a traditional sit-down Mexican restaurant yet miles ahead of fast food taco chains; Macarena's serves freshly made tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, nachos and enchiladas. The kitchen is in full view and the wait time is minimal. For $6; I enjoyed a large fish taco and a large Adobada taco. The fish was deep fried battered cod, crispy and hot with cabbage, onions, pico and jalapeno ranch on a flour tortilla. The Adobada was plentiful and extremely flavorful served with guacamole and pico on a corn tortilla. Kudos to Macarena's for truth in advertising, so many places serve adobada yet call it pastor. There was zero shame in this marinated pork! My only 2 complaints and they are minor - the corn tortilla does not hold up well with the juicy adobada. I would suggest ordering it in a bowl or on nachos or be prepared to eat your taco with a fork, and the small serving cups of green sauce had frozen into a jello like consistency, might need to turn the refer thermostat up a tad. This new spot opened up in late December and is located in Liberty, Mo. First I would just like to say the staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They delivered our food to our table and brought us silverware, napkins, and each of the sauces to try. We got our food pretty quickly but we were the only ones dining in at the time. A few people had come in for to-go orders. Be prepared for limited seating if you are dining in as it is a smaller place. The service at this location is always lacking. To Go orders are never ready when you get there. They are not welcoming at all. I'm never greeted when I walk in. In fact this time the older guy was on his phone when I came in and he paid me no attention. The cook was just coming out of the back room and looked annoyed when he spotted me. He ignored me as he went behind the counter and started scrolling on his phone. Only after the other guy wrapped up his phone call do he look my was so I could give him the name in my order. He then told me it was almost ready when it appeared the cook hadn't actually started it yet. It's a very small space where you see directly into the prep area. The food was good, I got the daily special of 3 puffy tacos ,and the order was correct. I got 2 beef and 1 chicken. Had a chance to eat at this new location after a drive across town . I have to say it was worth the drive as the food is cooked in an open grill where you see the preparation and it is fresh and tasty. I had the carne adobada, a marinated pork plate, with beans and rice. S it was very tasty. Very good seasoning and well cooked. Busy little spot right off the square in liberty. Friendly staff. We ordered a chicken fajita anaconda and the ground beef enchiladas. Burrito is a huge serving. Served hot. The peppers were cooked perfectly. His enchiladas were a little greasier than he liked. Rice and beans were standards. The chips and salsa were Delightful. Chips salted perfectly. And the salsa was just chunky enough. Not a lot of seating. More of a Togo place. They don't serve margaritas either lol read more

I came here with a friend and I would definitely come back if I were in the area. I had the enchiladas and they were incredibly good. The food was nice and hot and served very fast. We didn't have to wait at all during the week. I wouldn't drive out of the way for this only because I have a place close to home that I love more but if I were in the area I would definitely stop for lunch. read more

Great little take out spot. They did have some seating, but it didn't look like much. (We were getting it to go anyway) Food is pretty comparably priced to sit down Mexican restaurants. You have to buy the chips and salsa separately from your meal, not a big deal, but you don't get many chips. I wish salsa would have been included for your food instead of having to buy it. The food itself was really good! We got several different things and everyone was happy. We ended up not getting one side of rice and beans we ordered, but a couple of people shared theirs, and it was ok. Will definitely go back and try some other menu items soon. read more
