Cantina Crispy Melt Taco with ground beef
    Terri W.

I had several errands to run and I planned them around a trip to what I like to call "Taco Hell Yeah Bell". Part of my "plan" involved me combing over the menu the night before and making notes of what I wanted to order the next day. That sounds silly but here's why I had to be prepared. In the words of Sophia Petrillo, picture it, Kernersville late 2020. I pulled up to the drive through and ordered my favorite item, the Mexican pizza. I was told it had been discontinued so as I sat there going Uhhhhhhh while frantically scanning the menu board. With cars piling in behind me, I didn't know a Chalupa from a Gordita. So, now you know why I had to study. Alright, current day, I pulled up to the order box and was greeted by a very nice girl asking me how I was. That's never happened, so then I asked her how she was. I placed my order for the ground beef cantina crispy melt taco, a beefy 5 layer burrito, a Cinnabon 2 pack (like 2 donut holes) and a medium half and half iced tea. I pulled around to pay (less than $9 bucks) then moved forward to get my food. Another nice girl was swirling my tea to get it mixed. She said her dad orders the same thing and likes it well mixed. So I pulled away and went to the Kohl's parking lot to eat. By eat, I mean devour. No pix, just lots of lip smacking, ooohing, ahhhing and OMGing. The pix I included are stock photos, but they are completely accurate.

The food was good great service the only reason I put it a 4 star is because the burrito I ate was 60% meat and 40% tortilla

This is the worst restaurant ever! Just sat in drive thru line for an hour! Then the food was terrible. Don't eat here! Terrible service!

First off, this isn't just a random food truck. There is such an incredible story behind it. It's run by Gary and his best friend Alex, who have been friends since grade school back in Mexico City, Mexico!! You can feel that deep history in the way they run their business. There's a level of trust, energy, and authenticity that you don't usually see, and it trickles down to the entire team!!!Every employee I interacted with was genuinely happy, welcoming, and proud to be there (which says a lot) especially during these times. They've also set themselves up in some of the best spots around. I visited : 1) Summerfield Farms. 2) Oden Brewing Company. At both locations, you're not just grabbing food, you're getting a whole experience! Plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. Live music, dog friendly. The menu is simple, affordable, and done right. We got to try 4 different tacos, their queso dip, and their churros, and everything delicious! The meat was seasoned to perfection, super juicy, and full of flavor without being overcomplicated. But what really made this experience unforgettable? I got invited onto the truck to make my own churros!! let me tell you, that is not something you get to do every day. It was hands-on, fun, and honestly one of the most unique experiences I've had, collaborating with another business. By the end of it, it didn't even feel like a transaction anymore, we became friends! Taco Bros isn't just serving food, they're building up thier community. And that's something you don't come across often.

Overall the truck seemed very clean and hygienic for a food truck. The staff was incredibly friendly and organized. The food came out quickly and was piping hot. The prices are a bit high which is common for food trucks. Guac and chips was $10 and the chicken quesadilla was $14. One thing that would have been a nice touch was Jarritos. The chicken quesadilla was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was good sized and stuffed full of chicken, onions, peppers, and cheese. Overall we enjoyed Taco Bros and would definitely try them again at another event.

It's parked beside Royal Pabaderia Mexican Bakery in a rather rough area with an assortment of small businesses - pawn shops, tattoo parlors, auto storage and repair, etc. The parking areas are rough and all are slanted, not an easy in or out, especially on busy Silas Creek. If you have any mobility issues, use care! Gott there around 10:30, no rig, parked and waited, if no show I have a great option down the street, New Sichuan! Rig pulled in 10 minutes or so later, gave him a few minutes, then walked up and placed my order, Birria Tacos - told 15 minutes - that was doable. By 15 minutes, I have my order. I sit in my car in this ugly ass area, and dig into some damn good tacos - very well filled with meat and cheese, topped with cilantro, chopped white onion, lime wedges and sliced radishes. Nice touch was the well grilled sliced onion, and the two sauces, verde and Rojo. Loaded up and fully engaged there are few places that can top these tacos. This is not everybody's road trip, but I'm glad I made this one. Return - perhaps, I have a fair amount of free time! NOTE: Cash Only!

All the dishes we ordered were fresh, authentic and came out quickly. The salsas were perfectly spicy. The gorditas are so yummy and there's so many protein options it was hard to choose. My only issue is that the menus had prices whited out and when I asked the price of something the server told me something different than what was charged. There was also lots of little up-charges on the check.

But there is more to an authentic bowl of Menudo than tripe and hominy - it calls for beef trotters (calve hoofs) as well as bone marrow, often from veal bones, and a lot of prep time! And a peppery sauce made from Guajillo peppers, oregano, garlic, onions, and more. But this is a very popular dish among Mexican households, often served on special occasions and holidays, and often on weekends because of the lengthy, labor intensive process when the dish is truly authentic! Tripe is the edible lining of the stomach of farm animals like cows, pigs, sheep and goats. Beef tripe is chewy and has a mild beef flavor. It takes on the flavors of what it is cooked in, so usually it is used in a flavorful soup or stew, as is the case with Menudo. The Menudo served here is good, but lacks authenticity. If there was any bone marrow or meat from trotters I didn't find it! The tripe, cut into 1 to 2 inch pieces, was a bit chewy, but only a bit, and the sauce was good, but not great, the heat was limited. The toppings of chopped onions, chopped green peppers, cilantro, and lime wedges were fresh and elevated the overall flavor.

She was impressed with their posts and they made it easy to navigate their weekly schedule. We arrived shortly after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon at 801 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston. There were several cars there but no line. We approached the food truck and started looking over the menu. Everything they do features birria style meat. Neither of us have much experience ordering birria style dishes but the young man at the window was helpful in his recommendations on what to order for now and what dishes would save best for leftovers. We went with his recommendation to share the quesadilla now and order the tacos for later. The prices range from $12-15 per item but they also have a birria pizza for $35 which looks large enough to feed several people. We paid with a credit card and we're provided a small device that alerts customers when their orders are ready. This was the first time we have ever received something like this and though it was brilliant because so many times you order at a food truck you are stuck standing close by so you can hear your name when the order is ready. Our food was prepared in a timely manner and we decided to drive up the road before eating. When we opened up our containers everything looked incredible. We immediately dug in and the quesadilla was full of delicious ingredients and flavor. I took a few pictures of my tacos but saved them for later. I'm happy to report that they were delicious heated up. We will absolutely be back soon to try even more!
