Have been in here a few times, and it is never busy, even though the food and service are good. I hope this place does well, because it seems like a bit of a hidden gem. A quiet, clean atmosphere inside. I had a set of simple chicken/cheese quesadillas. My wife had fajitas. Cost efficient too.

I'm glad the owners of the El Gallito taco truck finally opened a restaurant. The best part is that I live less than a 5 minute drive from the shopping center where the taqueria is located! The best $1 tacos you'll find in High Point! I haven't tried much of the menu because of how cheap and delicious the tacos are. El Gallito cook up some of the best lengua(tongue) tacos in the triad! Always cooked perfectly. Definitely try from this place if you've never have them. The chorizo taco is another favorite of mine. It's freshly made unlike a few spots that use store bought chorizo. The shrimp taco is pretty good also and only 50 cents more than the other meats. The chicken and steak tacos is always a favorite for my friends. There's so many places that overcook the chicken and steak to the point that it's dry and you have to drown it in salsa and lime juice. Not Gallito! Juicy and finely chopped. You can't go wrong with any choices.

I think I stopped here on Cinco de Mayo. Seemed to be the spot. Tried Asada, el pastor and barbacoa. Not sure which one I liked more since I got them suprema, with lettuce, tomato and crema. Tacos were good and salsa was on point too. I love tacos. Only wish they had avocado like some other taco spots.

If you're not Mexican don't bother $11 for a Coke and a burrito she handed me the Coke with no way to open it All the beans leaked out of my box into the bag needless to say I won't be going back And one napkin for this gigantic mess. I changed my review to one star once diving into the burrito the meat was a gelatinous stuck together piece of gristle and I paid $11 for it so basically I got a vegetable burrito for $11 so sad right now

This place has true, authentic Mexican Food. I've gone to a lot of places where they don't make the food the way it should be, but this place hit the spot with all the dishes we ordered. The Agua de Horchata is one of the best I've tried, and has a sweet, natural flavor to it. The service was also really good, and they made sure we got everything we needed.

The literal best tacos in High Point and possibly NC? Like a true glutton, I scarfed my food down before I could snap a pic. We got Al Pastor and Asada tacos, an asada Gordita and two sopes (one asada, one pollo) and two cokes (cane sugar, none of this corn syrup crap) and hell's bells was it amazing! While everything was delectable the pastor tacos and Gordita made my eyes roll all the way back in my head until they came 'round the other side. I borderline don't want anyone to know about this place because there was no line at 6:15 on a Friday but the world NEEDS TO KNOW! Do yourself a favor and get one of everything. Already planning when we can go again!

Best tacos in High Point! Try all the sauces, they won't disappoint! Great service! Best if you bring cash to pay.

Only one person working the front during lunch. Sitting her for 30 minutes still no food, while they play with the music obscenely loud.

Food was good but for the price it's a lot a quite bit expensive if you ask me, but the food is good. Don't give me wrong just the price.

We also got an appetizer of corn ribs because... that stuff is delicious. I appreciate the tea being brought in GIANT glasses, as I was never wanting for a refill. I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. In the end, it wasn't enough to deduct a star as we had an excellent overall experience. Thanks amigos!

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

Extra parking is located in the back. The guac is the best! Perfectly seasoned and definitely not scooped from a tub. Tried the Carne Asada, Pastor, and Chorizo tacos. YUM! The service was friendly and fast but not rushed, vibe is casual - great for a quick bite or margs with friends. I used to love the Sopes here but didn't see on the menu this time. Maybe I missed?

The restaurant itself was really clean despite the lunch rush just having gone through. So we were really impressed with the tables being kept up after the lunch rush and the chairs were comfortable as well. The prices are fair especially with how good the food is. Even our family friend who is notoriously picky was impressed by the food. One downside was that it was difficult to understand the lady behind the counter however we were able to order by pointing to what we wanted. One of the meals we got we aren't sure exactly what it was, as we pointed to something someone else had gotten. Our friend got the chicken quesadilla and she said it was really good. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the guacamole. It was a bit thin and bland. We went based on a recommendation of a coworker who said they had three tacos for $9.99 as part of a meal and they said they were so good and it was a really great value which is why we went there. We definitely weren't disappointed and plan on returning.

With what I learned, I just can't see myself going back and anybody who has Alpha-Gal syndrome, you may want to really think twice about what you ordered here. I ordered a vegetarian combo meal and got the food, I ate it and about a half hour later I was on the toilet, and it was not a fun night. I called the restaurant the next day because I've had this happen to me before, although with this place, I ordered through GrubHub so I wasn't able to ask questions, but you assume when something is listed as vegetarian that it actually is. Anyway, the refried beans are sometimes fried and vegetable oil, sometimes fried and lard. The day that I ordered mine, well all week they had been fried and lard which makes them not vegetarian. When you stop consuming those types of animal byproducts your stomach doesn't know how to digest them so I had this food and my body immediately was like what's going on and sure enough trying to reject it. Somebody who has Alpha Gal syndrome like I mentioned earlier can get super sick from this, like it could have serious detrimental effect on them.
