A spot to go get some good food, especially if you're looking to get something that is not too expensive, but also fairly good quality. The Jamaica here is pretty good, as well as the tortas, would definitely recommend those. One of the better Jamaica drinks I've had in the area, not too powerful, not too light, and they add the limon which I've never had, but is a good addition. The tortas have everything you're looking for in a torta, I would add a little more meat overall to the torts, but it hall all the right ingredients that make up a solid a torta. Others like the burritos and tacos here as well, but I've only tired to tortas.

Probably the best DC tacos south of the capitol! Great neighborhood spot away from the bustle of Navy Yard and elsewhere. The tacos were full of flavor and the staff were attentive & friendly. Reasonable prices as well!

Caiparinhas to go!! So good!!!! Love this place!!

It's hard to find good tacos in DC. This place is it! I went to the Navy Yard location. I've been here 3 years, tried countless taco spots, and THIS (Taco City DC Navy Yard) is only one of three places I'd recommend thus far. Didn't make a reservation, though you might need to on busy nights. It's a small, casual spot that's decorated nicely. First, corn tortillas - yes. Delicious, complex flavors - yes! Yummy margaritas and caiparinhas - yes. Kind staff - Yes. Happy Hour - Yes. But wait, there's more. You can order drinks to go! The second time I was there, I was just picking up food to eat at home. When I arrived, I added 2 caiparinhas to go to my order and went home and had a great yummy dinner with delicious bar-made drinks. Doesn't get any better than that. Tacos = cauliflower tacos - delicious! Polvo (octopus) - delicious! Shrimp - yummy!! Steak - my partner said it was great, one of the best steak tacos he's had in DC (and he's been here 4 years) Chicken - good, but I liked the other tacos better. Chicken Quesadilla - not my fav. I like cheese and onions and peppers in my quesadilla. Not sure if this is traditional to have these things in your quesadilla, but that's my personal preference. Overall, great food! They also have happy hour food specials! Drinks = caiparinhas - delicious margaritas - delicious They have happy hour drink specials! Staff = Absolutely lovely. They are kind and friendly. Parking = Street Parking. I never have a problem finding parking. Do yourself a favor, and try this spot next time you have a taco craving.

Came here with a couple friends after seeing all the great reviews and it totally lived up to the hype. The fish tacos were my favorite, crispy on the outside with a fresh slaw and creamy sauce that balanced everything perfectly. My friend got the birria tacos and couldn't stop raving about them. Service was fast and they brought everything out piping hot. The vibe here is fun and low key, perfect for a casual lunch. We grabbed a table outside and hung out for a bit, never felt rushed. Definitely going on my regular rotation.

These tacos were super fresh and full of flavor. I had one chicken, one beef, and one veggie and all of them were great in their own way. The corn tortillas were soft but held together well. Loved the little kick from their spicy salsa. The place gets busy but the service moves pretty fast. It's a fun spot with good music and a nice crowd. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

I came in here for a quick-to-go lunch as I was working in the city. Since it was Tuesday, I decided on Tacos (Taco Tuesday). They have a 3-taco deal and I also got a Hibiscus drink, which was delicious. I got their shrimp taco, Al pastor taco, and mahi mahi taco. The shrimp and Al pastor tacos were delicious and flavorful; however the mahi mahi taco lacked flavor and the fish was tough and not flaky, which is what I expected. Service was great I was greeted when I came in and my order was taken right away. It took longer than I expected to get my food and drink. Honestly, I think the waitress forgot I ordered a drink because I had to remind her when my food was ready. The establishment is small inside; however, they do offer outside seating.

I happened to be in the area and looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat before catching a show at the Capital Turnaround, and I am SO glad I found Taco City !! Yum yum yummmmm... Everything was so incredibly delicious from the cocktails to the quesadillas and tacos!! They have a huge range of tequilas and mezcals to choose from, so if that's your thing - you should definitely add these guys to your list!!! 10/10 would recommend!

Had lunch here and the tacos totally delivered. The steak taco had a nice sear and the marinade was spot on. I liked that they kept the toppings simple, letting the meat shine. The salsa bar was a huge bonus with a solid range of spicy and mild options. Our server was friendly and helpful with recommendations. The vibe inside was casual and clean with fun music playing. I left full and already planning what to try next time.

Lunch special, meat filled and tasty!

Want tasty creative affordable tacos? This is the place, great selection of tacos, all seasoned nicely and well plated. Outdoor dining is available, service for take out and dine-in have been pleasant. Great service, professional and attentive. If you want grilled octopus, pork, beef or vegan.. they have the tacos for you! See for yourself - nicely plated tacos.

Absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh and flavorful, the staff treats you like family, and the prices can't be beat. Even though we live in California, every time we're in town we make sure to stop here--it's become our spot!

Great place! Super cute environment and great staff. I went on a Saturday afternoon before 1pm and there weren't too many people here. Was seated immediately and given complimentary chips and salsa (which was super delicious!). We ordered and unfortunately had to wait about 35-40minutes before the 7 tacos and as on our table. Not a super big deal if you have time to sit and enjoy but we expected a quicker meal considering we were one of two tables in the place. Food was delicious but I do wish the tacos were warmer. Would come back another time when I have more time to sit and enjoy!

Where do I begin! We were welcomed in by the staff as we approached the bar area. After a review of the menu I started with a yummy pineapple margarita. I like sweet drinks and this definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. This is my first visit here so I opted to try 3 different tacos. I ordered shrimp, steak, and fish. The fish tacos was my favorite, followed by the shrimp taco. The meat inside the steak taco was a little too tough for my preference.

I like that you can mix and match tacos so you're not stuck with all of the same one. The menu didn't have a ton of choices, which made deciding a bit easier. They had an amazing bar staff too that was absolutely killing it mixing cocktails. The margaritas were on point and the one had a flair of "salt air" foam instead of a messy, sticky rim. Pitcher of margaritas for the table: smooth, rich, not too strong. Exactly what a group lunch needs without turning into a whole situation. The guacamole is terrific and they'll adjust the spice level to your liking, which is a small thing that goes a long way when you're feeding a whole office with different tolerances. The tacos are built on house-made masa tortillas and you can taste that they care. I did the Pollo à la Parrilla and the Chilito de Res. Both landed. The beef especially, slow-braised and seasoned like they meant it. This is a José Andrés restaurant, so you already know the room has energy. If you're in the District and haven't made this a regular stop, fix that.

It sounds a little chaotic on paper but it flows well in practice, and it means you end up trying things you wouldn't have pointed at yourself. The flavors throughout were genuinely good, a cut above your standard Mexican restaurant. The mole in particular was excellent, the kind that actually tastes like it took some effort to make. Two misses: the chicken on the chicken and waffles was overcooked, and the salmon was too. Both proteins had the same problem, which makes me think there's something off in the kitchen's timing rather than just bad luck. When you're running an AYCE service where volume is the whole model, consistency on execution matters more, not less. Still, those were isolated stumbles in an otherwise solid parade of food.
