We stumbled after the day after Thanksgiving and a lot of restaurants were closed. We found Tacos de Mexico as a secondary option for mexican food. IT DID NOT DISSAPOINT!!! We had carne asada fries, canitas quesadillas and 2 al pastor tacos and one hard shell taco. I highly recommend the al pastor. It was juicy and well balanced in flavor. Some al pastors are dry and this was not. The customer service was excellent. We were deciding on what types of meat and she gave us a small plate of meats to try before we ordered. I've never been offered something like this at a mexican restaurant. A hidden gem this place is. I wish this place the best and I hope everybody gives it a try!!! read more

Great customer service. Food not cheap, but lots to eat. The food was well prepared, but short on taste. The steak burrito loaded with filling, rice way more the small bits of meat. The smoky salsa was ok if you like smoke taste. The bean burrito was bland. The beans got the most part were whole. If you love Mexican food try another place. We were in SLO on a Thursday night and went to the famous Farmers Market downtown. The place was packed...too packed! Long lines, big crowd, and not many places to sit. My wife can't stand for long periods of time so this wasn't going to work for dinner. We decided to bail. Not realizing there is a ban on drive throughs in SLO, we hopped on over to Taco Bell and Jack In The Box when we noticed that neither had a drive through. Right next door was Taco De Mexico. It looked like a little hole in the wall taqueria which we love. So we decided to give it a try. I have to say, this place had the best food of our entire 2 night trip in SLO. We got 2 tacos, a super burrito, and a quesadilla, all Carne Asada. The portions are HUGE! The food is very flavorful! NOTE, even though we asked for mild the food still has a small amount of kick. I believe it was the perfect amount of spice but if you want Taco Bell bland, this ain't it. There is plenty of outdoor dining tables available as well as a few indoor. The lighting inside could be a lot better. The menu is essentially in the dark. However the staff is very friendly and as I said, the food is delicious. Below is my review from a couple of days ago. I had another dr appt in SLO so we came back here and we were so happy we did. This time we knew the food was good so I ordered 2 asada tacos and a pastor. My husband ordered 3 asada tacos and my son opted not to get the children's bean and cheese burrito and instead got a regular asada burrito. Again the cashier was so incredibly nice. She cut his burrito in half and put one half in a to go bag. This place is a definite stop for us whenever we are in town. The tacos were filled with meat so much so that we couldn't finish it and had to bring it home. My husband and I both stole as many bites of my son's burrito as we could. The beans were excellent and the rice was also flavorful. The asada was as good as the tacos. We were going to Jack in the Box for a quick bite but saw this place and decided to give it a try. We always like to try the tacos first so we got a couple of asada tacos and a hard shell taco for my son. We're from LA and have been having a hard time finding good Mexican food in Paso Robles. This place was so good. The meat was juicy and not fatty. The tacos had a lot of a meat. We will definitely come back next time we're in SLO. The cashier was so great. Love this place! I know the decor is fairly ancient and some of the prices are inflated, but the food is excellent and they are local, family run, and have excellent older style Mexican food. On a recent visit, the breakfast burrito was excellent. Lots of breaky burritos in our town, but even for 10 bucks, this thing felt worth it. Authentic Mexican food with a nice patio to feel the breeze while eating your food. I had two asada and two chicken tacos. My wife had an asada burrito, and the kids split a quesadilla. The food was served quickly and was pretty tasty. My asada was a little dry and over cooked, but still tasted good. They were served on double corn tortillas, which is the norm for authentic tacos. The chicken was a little "wet" but that's the style. My wife loves spicy food and liked her burrito. The spices were good and she even went back for more to add more spicy salsa to her burrito. She considered the "Mexican Plate" as an option but didn't want that much food. All beers are $3.75 plus tax. Plenty of Mexican beer choices from Corona to Modelo. This place satisfies my Mexican food cravings with their burrito bowls and that says a lot considering that I'm from San Diego! My friend also claims that this place is the best Mexican restaurant in SLO. I've only been to one other, taqueria Santa Cruz, but this place is a whole lot better in my opinion. Their beef burrito bowl is around $10, but it's A LOT. I've always had help finishing the bowl and I never need help finishing my food. I'm the type of person that can easily inhale a chipotle bowl btw. The beef is also very tender which I found very surprising. It's an amazing comfort food for when I'm stressed (so I eat it a lot). My only complaint is they close at 9pm so I can't come here for late night munchies :( read more

Some good some bad to report. I got the chorizo breakfast burrito, and here is my summary. Let's start with the bad- lacking in flavor for the majority of the burrito, it was dry besides the beans, I would say they only used 2-3 eggs for it and the flavor was only in the last couple bites. I waited 25 minutes for it from order to in hand, most places are max 15 (if they are slammed) to be fair it was busy when I got there, and I think they only had 1 cook, which could solve that issue. The price is $11 which is soooo high for a breakfast burrito with only 2ish eggs and filled with beans and rice, so though the quantity was good the price was not. There weren't any potatoes, which I know isn't essential to a good breakfast burrito, but it is essential for a great one (in my opinion of course). For the good ! The quantity is great! This is a full meal. The taste of the last couple bites was actually really good. Unfortunately it was isolated to the last couple bites whereas most the burrito wasn't that tasteful if it had been decent! Most of the burrito I would say is a 4-5 on taste scale out of 10, but the last couple bites where the sauce was isolated was probably a 7, so I rated it a 6/10 on taste. Alrighty, so there's the good and bad. I probably will not be getting a breakfast burrito here again, unless they reach out and change some things on it (or bring price down), for a $8 or maybe $9 burrito this would've been good. But SLO has really good burritos for great prices. I hope this is helpful for customers and for tacos de Mexico on how they can improve! I asked for a flour tortilla with cheese for a child. They waited to make the food before they charged me. Then they said the cheese quesadilla was $10.75. I said I specifically asked for a tortilla and cheese, how much is the tortilla. The guy said $2. I replied, it's $8.75 for cheese? He said it's really expensive cheese. This place is small. The food was ok. I ordered carne asada fries and 5 taquitos. The fries needed way more cheese. The amount of meat was fine. The taquitos were soft/crispy not crunchy. I can't really describe the texture. No salsa was offered I had to wait and ask. The salsa was ok. It was just basic mexican food. I am use to really good mexican food. Been craving good fish tacos and saw some good reviews at Taco de Mexico in SLO so came here and was not disappointed! The grilled fish tacos are topped with sliced cabbage, diced tomatoes, cilantro, grated queso and a mild spicy aioli. The fish was grilled to perfection - moist and tender and absolutely delicious! My buddy got the carnitas tacos and al pastor and both were equally good. So happy to have found another place that offers great fish tacos! read more
