Great service. Kind woman who took our order at the counter. Authentic tacos. Pastor and asada had a kick. Glad we stopped in while visiting. Felt like a homemade kinda spot.

Super Burrito, quesadilla, and soft tacos, all Carne Asada.

We were in SLO on a Thursday night and went to the famous Farmers Market downtown. The place was packed...too packed! Long lines, big crowd, and not many places to sit. My wife can't stand for long periods of time so this wasn't going to work for dinner. We decided to bail. Not realizing there is a ban on drive throughs in SLO, we hopped on over to Taco Bell and Jack In The Box when we noticed that neither had a drive through. Right next door was Taco De Mexico. It looked like a little hole in the wall taqueria which we love. So we decided to give it a try. I have to say, this place had the best food of our entire 2 night trip in SLO. We got 2 tacos, a super burrito, and a quesadilla, all Carne Asada. The portions are HUGE! The food is very flavorful! NOTE, even though we asked for mild the food still has a small amount of kick. I believe it was the perfect amount of spice but if you want Taco Bell bland, this ain't it. There is plenty of outdoor dining tables available as well as a few indoor. The lighting inside could be a lot better. The menu is essentially in the dark. However the staff is very friendly and as I said, the food is delicious. So for us, two thumbs up for Taco De Mexico!

2 asada tacos and 1 pastor. Both were delicious.

Below is my review from a couple of days ago. I had another dr appt in SLO so we came back here and we were so happy we did. This time we knew the food was good so I ordered 2 asada tacos and a pastor. My husband ordered 3 asada tacos and my son opted not to get the children's bean and cheese burrito and instead got a regular asada burrito. Again the cashier was so incredibly nice. She cut his burrito in half and put one half in a to go bag. This place is a definite stop for us whenever we are in town. The tacos were filled with meat so much so that we couldn't finish it and had to bring it home. My husband and I both stole as many bites of my son's burrito as we could. The beans were excellent and the rice was also flavorful. The asada was as good as the tacos. We were going to Jack in the Box for a quick bite but saw this place and decided to give it a try. We always like to try the tacos first so we got a couple of asada tacos and a hard shell taco for my son. We're from LA and have been having a hard time finding good Mexican food in Paso Robles. This place was so good. The meat was juicy and not fatty. The tacos had a lot of a meat. We will definitely come back next time we're in SLO. The cashier was so great. She was so nice and brought us extra plates and utensils.

breakfast burrito...super filling for $10

Love this place! I know the decor is fairly ancient and some of the prices are inflated, but the food is excellent and they are local, family run, and have excellent older style Mexican food. On a recent visit, the breakfast burrito was excellent. Lots of breaky burritos in our town, but even for 10 bucks, this thing felt worth it. Full of deliciousness, like potatoes and cheese and eggs and whatever meat you choose. It is filling and all holds together, like a good burrito should.

Relleno , enchilada and taco combo and a chorizo burrito

Dining room is closed but they have a nice patio with plenty of shade , I like that the kitchen is visible and it was super clean . We ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo and a combination plate with a relleno, taco and enchilada . Everything was absolutely delicious especially the salsa !! Prices are reasonable

Authentic Mexican food with a nice patio to feel the breeze while eating your food. I had two asada and two chicken tacos. My wife had an asada burrito, and the kids split a quesadilla. The food was served quickly and was pretty tasty. My asada was a little dry and over cooked, but still tasted good. They were served on double corn tortillas, which is the norm for authentic tacos. The chicken was a little "wet" but that's the style. My wife loves spicy food and liked her burrito. The spices were good and she even went back for more to add more spicy salsa to her burrito. She considered the "Mexican Plate" as an option but didn't want that much food. All beers are $3.75 plus tax. Plenty of Mexican beer choices from Corona to Modelo. It was a good experience, but not something that have me go out of my way to have again.

Beef burrito bowl

This place satisfies my Mexican food cravings with their burrito bowls and that says a lot considering that I'm from San Diego! My friend also claims that this place is the best Mexican restaurant in SLO. I've only been to one other, taqueria Santa Cruz, but this place is a whole lot better in my opinion. Their beef burrito bowl is around $10, but it's A LOT. I've always had help finishing the bowl and I never need help finishing my food. I'm the type of person that can easily inhale a chipotle bowl btw. The beef is also very tender which I found very surprising. It's an amazing comfort food for when I'm stressed (so I eat it a lot). My only complaint is they close at 9pm so I can't come here for late night munchies :(

Great food & service. You can eat outside or inside. Definitely a mom & pop place. Ordered the taquitos. Food was fresh.

Slow Wednesday night. Order at the counter. Chile relleno is tasty, not too hot. Carne asada taco tasty but a little pricey.

Best Mexican food in SLO and friendly service. Lock your car though. The shared lot w Jack in the Box isn't the best.

The fish taco was ok, the cheese was an unexpected ingredient and not really a good addition. The counter guy was friendly and helpful.

It…read moremight seem a little unexpected to find top-tier tacos at a bar, but as self-proclaimed taco aficionados, we can confidently say these are the best tacos in San Luis Obispo. We've tried the pastor, lemon pepper chicken, carne asada, pescado, and crispy pescado--and every single one has been spot on. They actually remind me of the authentic tacos I've had in Mexico City. I've seen a few reviews mentioning rude staff, but in the eight times we've been there, everyone has been nothing but friendly and chill. Bonus points for the pool table and the live music--we love the fun, relaxed vibe. If you're serious about your tacos, give The Mark a try. You might just become a regular too.

Bouncers working on April 10, 2026 were extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of simply doing their job, they made unnecessary and disrespectful comments. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of upholding rules. However, there is a clear difference between maintaining standards and failing to show basic respect to guests and this interaction reflected the latter. That kind of unprofessional behavior reflects poorly on the entire establishment. Management should take a closer look at who they have representing them at the door.
