The meat is not carne asada. I don't eat at many places in SLO but I do pride myself on being a loyal customer when I'm in town.

I'm not sure if there are different cooks each day. Don't get me wrong they can be good and other days I don't know what I'm gona get. Maybe I should have stuck with tacos but burritos shouldn't make a difference. The lady there is nice and for some reason we can order a side of rice with her. But when she isn't there, we cannot.

stopped on a road trip and instantly knew this spot was fire. got some carne asada nachos and a coca cola. excellent quality meat with good flavor. i'm coming here any and every time i come to SLO.

Great service. Kind woman who took our order at the counter. Authentic tacos. Pastor and asada had a kick. Glad we stopped in while visiting. Felt like a homemade kinda spot.

Super Burrito, quesadilla, and soft tacos, all Carne Asada.

We were in SLO on a Thursday night and went to the famous Farmers Market downtown. The place was packed...too packed! Long lines, big crowd, and not many places to sit. My wife can't stand for long periods of time so this wasn't going to work for dinner. We decided to bail. Not realizing there is a ban on drive throughs in SLO, we hopped on over to Taco Bell and Jack In The Box when we noticed that neither had a drive through. Right next door was Taco De Mexico. It looked like a little hole in the wall taqueria which we love. So we decided to give it a try. I have to say, this place had the best food of our entire 2 night trip in SLO. We got 2 tacos, a super burrito, and a quesadilla, all Carne Asada. The portions are HUGE! The food is very flavorful! NOTE, even though we asked for mild the food still has a small amount of kick. I believe it was the perfect amount of spice but if you want Taco Bell bland, this ain't it. There is plenty of outdoor dining tables available as well as a few indoor. The lighting inside could be a lot better. The menu is essentially in the dark. However the staff is very friendly and as I said, the food is delicious. So for us, two thumbs up for Taco De Mexico!

2 asada tacos and 1 pastor. Both were delicious.

Below is my review from a couple of days ago. I had another dr appt in SLO so we came back here and we were so happy we did. This time we knew the food was good so I ordered 2 asada tacos and a pastor. My husband ordered 3 asada tacos and my son opted not to get the children's bean and cheese burrito and instead got a regular asada burrito. Again the cashier was so incredibly nice. She cut his burrito in half and put one half in a to go bag. This place is a definite stop for us whenever we are in town. The tacos were filled with meat so much so that we couldn't finish it and had to bring it home. My husband and I both stole as many bites of my son's burrito as we could. The beans were excellent and the rice was also flavorful. The asada was as good as the tacos. We were going to Jack in the Box for a quick bite but saw this place and decided to give it a try. We always like to try the tacos first so we got a couple of asada tacos and a hard shell taco for my son. We're from LA and have been having a hard time finding good Mexican food in Paso Robles. This place was so good. The meat was juicy and not fatty. The tacos had a lot of a meat. We will definitely come back next time we're in SLO. The cashier was so great. She was so nice and brought us extra plates and utensils.

    breakfast burrito...super filling for $10

Love this place! I know the decor is fairly ancient and some of the prices are inflated, but the food is excellent and they are local, family run, and have excellent older style Mexican food. On a recent visit, the breakfast burrito was excellent. Lots of breaky burritos in our town, but even for 10 bucks, this thing felt worth it. Full of deliciousness, like potatoes and cheese and eggs and whatever meat you choose. It is filling and all holds together, like a good burrito should.

Dining room is closed but they have a nice patio with plenty of shade , I like that the kitchen is visible and it was super clean . We ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo and a combination plate with a relleno, taco and enchilada . Everything was absolutely delicious especially the salsa !! Prices are reasonable

Authentic Mexican food with a nice patio to feel the breeze while eating your food. I had two asada and two chicken tacos. My wife had an asada burrito, and the kids split a quesadilla. The food was served quickly and was pretty tasty. My asada was a little dry and over cooked, but still tasted good. They were served on double corn tortillas, which is the norm for authentic tacos. The chicken was a little "wet" but that's the style. My wife loves spicy food and liked her burrito. The spices were good and she even went back for more to add more spicy salsa to her burrito. She considered the "Mexican Plate" as an option but didn't want that much food. All beers are $3.75 plus tax. Plenty of Mexican beer choices from Corona to Modelo. It was a good experience, but not something that have me go out of my way to have again.

Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been very disappointing. There is a new cashier who has provided some of the worst customer service I've experienced there. She has been snarky, argumentative, and disrespectful on more than one occasion. During my most recent visit, I politely asked her to be more cordial and respectful, especially since we are regular customers, but instead of de-escalating the situation, she became even more argumentative. To make matters worse, "by coincidence," I found a very long black hair on my plate during that same visit. I obviously cannot say where it came from, but given everything that had just happened, it made the experience even more unpleasant. This honestly makes me sad because I live nearby and have been a frequent customer for a long time. I've always enjoyed coming here, but customer service matters just as much as the food. We come to have a nice meal and a pleasant experience--not to leave feeling uncomfortable or disrespected. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because I would really like to be able to enjoy this place again.

The slaw bowls are reasonably priced and satisfying, the menu has a nice variety, and who I think is the owner is very friendly and welcoming and enthusiastic - like a guy that seems like would be fun to hang out with and talk about anything. It's upstairs and probably easy for some to miss as it's the only thing upstairs, but they post signs outside and inside near the stairs, and they've been here awhile, so it must be doing well. As you can see, the slaw bowl comes with a good amount of protein, a few chips, and a variety of ingredients to go on top of the slaw. I've had chicken in the past, which is also good. Just one piece of chewy meat this time, which happens. Flavor is very good and satisfying and the slaw keeps things feeling pretty light and healthy. I've had burritos in the past too, and those are more filling. There's ample seating area as well, with a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. Self-serve drink taps for soda and to get water. Always enjoy coming here and I'm sure we'll eat here many more times in the future. I just need to venture out a bit and try more menu items.

He said to me: "move or imma beat your ass." So I replied, I was just trying to get through but please don't because I'm just a girl." He replied, "Then look like it." Later on in the night he shoulder checked me, so, to defend myself, I shoved him. He bucked up on me and threatened security and a camera check. Tell me why I got kicked out??? I am a respectful person and I will always leave anywhere if asked to go. Why did the bouncer grab me and start shoving me out the door. He grabbed my INJURED arm. When I yelped, "ouch my arm is injured please let go, I am leaving." His response was "Don't fight back or I'll call the cops." Unacceptable. F*ck this place and the employees. I will NEVER be back and I will also discourage anyone from going by enlightening them on my AWFULLLLL experience. EDIT: What an unprofessional response, but not surprised after reading your responses to other patrons. Who the f*ck are you to tell me the extent of my injury?! Regardless of how big or small NOBODY would want their wound manhandled. There were people everywhere and I was walked towards the exit. You don't kick someone out of an establishment by grabbing and manhandling them. Your security just wants an excuse to put their hands on people and take advantage of their power. I did not shove multiple people so that claim is 100% false. Also never said I was an employee, nor would I ever want to work for you?? I shoved ONE person that shoulder checked me and threatened to beat me up for no reason. Show some professionalism in your responses to upset guests, it makes you look pathetic and childish. Do better, Rhianna.

I ordered a burrito and a soda, and the total came out to just under $20. Newsflash: if I'm paying $20 for a burrito and drink, chips and salsa should not be an extra charge. That felt ridiculous. Yes they charge for chips and salsa so I passed on it.
