I ordered the same thing again -- the enchiladas with beans and rice -- and this time I actually remembered to snap a picture. Must try. This visit was even better because I got to interact with the staff. I went for dinner, and the gentleman helping us was incredibly sweet. He took time to talk with my daughter, asked her little questions, and had her blushing and giggling the whole time. That kind of kindness really stands out. As a parent, it means a lot when staff are warm, patient, and know how to engage with children. My first visit was during the lunch rush, so I did not really get that experience, but tonight it was nice and quiet inside. I was able to place my order, step out to grab my daughter dinner from a nearby spot, and come right back. Overall, another great experience. I do not know if they are new, but people in SLO really need to give this place a try. read more

I love coming to Chico's at the Laguna Village shopping center in SLO because the food is very good. Plus on Taco Tuesday the fish tacos are half the regular price. I order the grilled fish that comes with cabbage, mango, ranch dressing, and pico de gallo. You can also get the fish breaded. They offer a chip and salsa station and the best tasting horchata (rice milk, cinnamon, and sugar) that's made from scratch. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Very clean and casual setting. Magdalena is a gem! She's worked there for nearly 20 years and she never makes a mistake on the order. She's sharp and a real asset to this Mexican restaurant. The interior was closed for renovations that includes brighter colors that brings a festive feeling to it. The patio has tables and chairs (in front and back) that allow for pets. Highly recommend! We come here most times we are in San Luis Obispo and it never disappoints. I love their tostada that comes with plentiful, shredded beef or chicken, my husband loves the handmade taquitos, but we've also enjoyed the albondigas soup, and tacos. Came here while on a short visit to SLO. Was craving carne asada fries. My boyfriend had the nachos. The presentation of the fries and nachos were amazing. Very beautiful to look at. My boyfriend liked that the sour cream was drizzled on compared to being served as a big goop. I found a few pieces of fat when eating my fries, so this was a let down. The beans were bland, no flavor at all. The jalapeños had a strange taste that I cannot explain. Both the nachos and fries were filling though, and my boyfriend and I couldn't finish everything. Found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. Small restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere prices were a little bit on the high side. I decided to just try a sopes to see if the place served good food. Printed menu says price of $7. The menu on the wall same item listed as $8. Says choice of meat. Didn't say an up charge for carne asada. I later noticed my receipt that I was charge 1.50 for selecting carne asada. There was also a charge of .50 cents for tortilla chips and salsa. I was really disappointed in the salsas available. The mild tasted liked cold stewed chunk tomatoes with notes of cinnamon and oregano. The hot was not hot and had a bad taste that I cannot describe. Chips were plain and unremarkable. After a few bites didn't finish my small bowl of chips nor the salsa. For the price the sopes was too expensive. The meat was out of the fridge and warmed up. It was dried out and some pieces were still cold! There was a tiny amount of avocado. It was served on a tiny baking sheet and felt uncomfortable cutting on this aluminum surface as it is not designed for this purpose and I didn't want any aluminum or coating in my food. You could see cut scratches from previous uses. Overall, I wish I didn't come here. Up charges for food and quality lacking. The worst salsa I have had at a salsa bar. read more

Formerly known as Taco Roco, used to be a place we visited occasionally, but it seemed to be going downhill In Quality and inspiration. Now it's reborn, with an improved salsa bar, and great food options. Husband loves their soft shredded chicken tacos, and I am A big fan of their Chile rellenos! I would lick the plate if I wasn't in public! And the chips are warm and crunchy, always tasty! Staff are welcoming and friendly, and very helpful. Place is clean, well lit, good background music.
