We started with the truffle fries (hard to stop eating them), then hubs had the Napa Chicken Sandwich, and I had the Fig Burger (actual name escapes me, satisfaction level never will). I decided to stop by Eureka! For lunch today after an appointment I had in the area. Upon entry I was greeted by Mason who was professionally and kindly dealing with some of the local San Luis Obispo perminant residents. IYKYK. Where this can end up destractting and un inviting I can honestly say I did not feel off put and had zero issues requesting a seat at the bar. The restaurant was clean and bustling with business but all employees were kind and engaged with the customers. As I sat down at the Bar I was greeted by Lydia who was phenomenal. She provided me quickly with a lunch special menue asked my drinks and took my order all almost immediately as I sat down at a busy bar with not many available seats and she was the the only one behind that bar. I chose the blackened shrimp tacos which were absolutely great and hit the spot with a 2 oz pour of Russel Reserve 10 on this unseasonably hot 100 degree day in September. As a whiskey enthusiast I was impressed with their selection and pricing on their pours. Any questions Lydia was not able to readily answer she got ahold of the manager without hesitation. I can say this by far was one of the best lunch experiences I have had in years and it was cheaper than an upgraded combo at a fastfood restaurant. Stop in see the staff at Eureka grab a $13 lunch special and a drink. You will be a return customer I promise. I know I am. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Saturday evening, my brother came into town to visit, and my sister-in-law and nephew joined us as well. My daughter and I took them to Eureka. From the outside, it looks more like a nightlife spot, so I called ahead to make sure it was child-friendly. They reassured me that kids are welcome--and they absolutely were. They even have a full kids menu. Both kids ordered the cheeseburger and fries, and it was a hit. My nephew asked to go back the very next day, saying it was the best burger he's ever had. My daughter (who's three and has never been into burgers) ate her entire burger and fries, which honestly made my night. I ordered the jalapeño egg burger--stellar flavor. I personally would've loved a bit more spice, but that's an easy fix with extra jalapeños. My brother and sister-in-law both had the black and blue burger, which I've had before and loved, and they completely agreed--it was amazing. We all tried the lavender iced tea. I enjoyed it, though my brother and sister-in-law were hoping for more of a lavender lemonade sweetness. The kids had strawberry lemonade and loved it. Great burgers, welcoming atmosphere, and right in the heart of downtown SLO. We sat upstairs and enjoyed the view overlooking the downstairs area. Definitely a must-try in SLO--we'll absolutely be back. I also have to call out the exceptional service. Our server, Katie, was absolutely wonderful--so kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She offered great recommendations, engaged thoughtfully with both the kids and adults, and never once made us feel rushed. She truly elevated the entire experience. The gentleman who took my call earlier in the day to confirm the child-friendly environment was also incredibly kind and reassuring. From start to finish, the customer service was outstanding. Was visiting a few friends and I stumbled upon the Wednesday $9 double smash burger with fries that the restaurant had promoting. We decided to give it a try since it was such a steal. We walked into the restaurant and stood there for about 5 minutes until someone greeted us. There were a few staff members that were serving food to other customers and just stared at us without acknowledgment. We kinda just stood there and stared back at them hoping they would seat us. We were finally greeted after another party came in and held the front door open since there wasn't much room to wait. Our server was great! He was extremely attentive to us and gave us great options for appetizers and drinks. I ordered the $9 deal and was able to upgrade the regular fries to truffle cheese fries for only $3. The burger was juicy and saucy and the fries were crispy and had a great truffle taste. I would go back again but maybe only take-out. read more

I love Eureka! We eat there a lot! I always enjoy this seared salmon with the exception of this particular meal. It was seared so lightly that the middle was completely pink/raw and a little too lightly cooked for my liking so I didn't try it. Usually, the seared salmon is cooked to perfection not too much not too little, but it is cooked thoroughly all the way through. Everyone has an off day or an off night, super busy, overwhelmed and overworked, so I didn't really see the point in making a big deal about it. Had salmon been cooked as usual? I have ZERO doubt I would've loved this combo as much as, or more, than the salmon, fingerling potatoes and seared green beans. Which is my usual go to at eureka & it's delish! We needed a place to watch our WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces play basketball while we were in SLO. We walked downtown and walked right into this great place. We decided to sit at the bar so we could have a good seat for the game. The bartender was so nice and made sure all the TV's had our game on. This restaurant is a nice size and has a great location on the corner of Churro Street. Patio seating allows for one to people watch and enjoy the fresh air. A great menu including shareable plates, burgers, handhelds, knife and fork, salads, desserts and sides. They also have a HH during the week. I enjoyed a nice, cold beer and my daughter had a mimosa. My husband was leaving us after the game to drive home so he just had a coke. I decided to order the Fish and Chips and so we could share it. The Fish and Chips were served with smashed potatoes and the mahi mahi was just so fresh. My daughter went with the All World Breakfast Burrito minus the bacon since she is a vegetarian. We both really enjoyed our meals. Parking is a challenge and on the street or you can drive to locate public parking in a lot. We walk to downtown as much as possible to avoid the hassle. The vibe here is so relaxed and we had good service. I will definitely return here next time I am here in SLO as I saw some other interesting food I would like to try on the menu. read more

Lots of people watching, which is always fun. Hubs wanted a beer, but wasn't sure of which type he would like. Our server asked him a few questions and offered a recommendation for the Andersonville Boont Amber. He ordered it and loved it! Great recommendation! I ordered a diet Coke and the server also made sure my glass was always full... Refill after refill. Thank you! After considering the menu, I ordered the American and hubs ordered the wagyu Burger. Both were delivered as ordered and were delicious. Our server returned to check on us, made sure we had everything we needed, and asked if we would like to order dessert. As soon as we were done with our meal, our plates were cleared and the check was brought in an unhurried fashion, but also quickly. We appreciated that. We were in and out in under an hour and never felt rushed. We would return to Eureka! again. We got the protein bowl here and the vegetarian burger. One thing about the protein bowl is it says it's 921 calories, but it doesn't seem that way at all. It truly is grilled vegetables with wild rice, which doesn't make sense to be almost 1000 calories so that's one thing to be mindful of. Other than that, it was super good. Was here for a celebration. My daughter and I split the crispy, roasted Brussel Sprouts, which were yummy! They had a slight kick (spicy), and they disappeared pretty quickly. We also both got the Southwestern Salad which was delish. My daughter had the Ranch dressing which came with it, and I asked for a clear vinaigrette, that was excellent. I got the Mimosa Flight, which did not disappoint. Our server, Rick, was super friendly and attentive. The only negative thing I can say, is that the bathrooms need a deep clean. The atmosphere is chill, and the staff were all very personable. The starters were quite small, but tasted amazing. Especially the brussel sprouts. We chose to go to Eureka as it had been recommended by another guest at our hotel. It is located on a corner in Downtown SLO and has windows that look out on the two sides of the street. We were here during their Happy Hour and they had some nice selections as meal options. I wanted a salad so I ordered the Southwestern Garden Salad with a protein add of chicken. The salad was so delicious, I probably ate more than I needed because it was so good. The chicken was hot and tender and all the greens and many toppings came together so well. My friend ordered the Burger on the Happy Hour menu and said it was delicious! He ordered the onion rings as a side and after we had a taste of this deliciousness, we decided to order a 2nd side to share between the two of us. The servers were super friendly, the dinners were delicious so that we could just relax a bit from a hectic week. I wish I had found this place earlier in my visit, as I would have returned to try more items on their menu (and possibly a dessert) and to just enjoy an evening out. read more

I've dined at Eureka in San Luis Obispo three times, and the food has always been really good. The flavors are great and the atmosphere is super enjoyable -- it's a spot I genuinely like and want to keep coming back to. Unfortunately, the service from one particular waitress hasn't matched the quality of the restaurant. Each time we've had her, she's made us feel a bit uncomfortable certain remarks and her unwelcoming attitude. On one visit, we were left unattended for most of our stay and were only able to order appetizers before she disappeared. When she returned, she assumed we were done ordering instead of asking if we wanted anything else. As a business manager I hope the service improves because the food and vibe are definitely worth it. read more

The fries themselves were cooked properly and the sauce was good but there was an insane amount salt 2/5 Macaroni balls- Fried well and overall tasted fine. Still, as is and with the sauce they were good 3.5/5 28 dry aged bone marrow burger- so i took the suggestion and added bacon and removed the tomato. Really juicy and cooked perfectly. The bacon was a nice addition but this burger definitely needs acid to cut through the richness. Some pickles or even pickled jalapenos would make this even better. Still really good and the bone marrow butter added a lot of flavor! 4/5 wild child cocktail- just delicious. Refreshing and the habanero salt was really nice Overall this was a very pleasant experience. We had time to kill after flying in early, this place popped up nearby so we dropped in. We parked on a the street a short walk away - there is mostly street parking in the area, but walking about is quite pleasant in the area. We were greeted upon entry with a warm welcome and sat immediately at a lovely window table. I have to admit we were not all that hungry, but the menu just screams to be eaten! I love a good off the beaten track burger, and the Fresno fig was exactly what I didn't know I wanted. The burger itself was actually seasoned, I find often times many places won't season the burger Patty when it's cooked. This one was just mighty tasty, the addition of the fig marmalade and some Uy gooey, goat cheese, and arugula, was enough to make me order this. But now add bacon... everything is better with bacon! The bun was just perfect, little toasted on the inside and just toothsome enough to add to the overall bite. Shishito peppers, if you've never had them you are missing out. They are generally a mild pepper with really good flavor, but once in a while if you're lucky, you get that spicy one! Their peppers are coated and crushed Doritos, why have I never thought of this? They were hands-down, my favorite appetizer I think I've had in memory. The coding comes out so crisp, so crunchy and the pepper inside is just that perfect tender. We had these with the scallion dip, and that was not a letdown. I could've eaten that dip with a spoon, and I may have had a spoonful or three. If you are ever there, this is one of the must haves. And if the time is right, have it with a Moscow Mule, they make it with homemade ginger syrup. And it is a tasty tasty libation. read more

Having walked past here several times, the venue definitely has curb appeal located at the corner of Churro Street in downtown SLO, but from a quick glance I thought it was just another local bar. To my amazement, they offer more than your casual pub food and happy hour drinks. The place is fairly large with two floors, wooden tables and benches and has an upscale, rustic atmosphere within a bar setting. I'm sure it's expensive to keep a place this large heated so it was chilly in there, but clean and inviting. . A couple of us ordered the "Wild Child" cocktail. Vodka based with watermelon, a mint garnish and a habañero salt rim, I didn't have to specify to make it sweeter than usual because it was perfect as is. We all got something different which was great for sharing and seeing all there is on their menu. . For an appetizer, I ordered the Broccolini and for my entree I got the Ahi Poke Stack. The greens were grilled with a slight char and had a buttery garlic flavoring. They crunched softly when I took a bite. The Ahi was a succulent delight, with medium chunks of rare tuna, donned with chiles, perfectly stacked above black rice and avocado in a black sesame ginger dressing that was sharp in flavor with citrus notes. Other dishes we ordered included, the Crispy Veggie Beet Burger, The Fresno Fig with Honey Cinnamon Sweet Potato Fries, the Napa Chicken Sandwich, The Caesar Salad with Chicken & Roasted Veggie Tacos. .
