Tacos del Mar turned into The Quick and The Meh starring a beautiful mysterious gunslinger and her Yelptastic husband sauntering into a small joyless strip mall on the outskirts of Happy Valley to fight off the ruthless hunger that had plagued their afternoon while seeking two tacos to restore peace and satisfaction. Her choice was fish. His were carnitas. The tacos were quick. The tacos were meh. The staff were bored, but at least they did their work efficiently. There is no joy in tacoville. Tacos del Meh.

Perhaps the management has changed since 2012 because this spot doesn't seem the same as what's been described in the lower-star reviews. It's not the best but it's not the worst; I'd say it's above average. The space is in a strip mall, it is clean inside, and the staff were fine--not overly friendly but not impolite either. I've had their fish taco combo plate twice in the last two weeks and both times it was fine. The build-your-own options are a nice touch here, and everything I've eaten has tasted fresh enough and didn't come back to haunt me later. Summary: Not as good as some of the taco vendors in the local cart pods but lighter than many sit down Mex in PDX (i.e. Original Taco House, La Caretta), and better (and fresher) than any Taco Bell for just a few bucks more.

I LOVE Mexican food. The spicier the better. While they don't have anything paticularly spicy, it is still one of my favorite place to eat. The manager is very friendly and knows me despite the fact that I only eat here two times a month. The rest of the staff is just as friendly. If you're looking for a quick bite and Mexican is your craving I highly recommen this place.

My husband got me hooked on this place. You absolutely cannot skip the fries or the spicy garlic…read moresauce. I'm literally obsessed. I don't think I've ever gotten a bad meal from here. I've tried the chicken, beef, and lamb. And I'm not a lamb kind of girl! Everything is so succulent and juicy and flavorful. One time we ordered on a 110 degree day and the store didn't have AC but we still sat inside and waited for our order in the boiling heat with the workers. That's mad dedication!!!!!! I love all the food here.

Positives: clean , fast service , nice feel restaurant , size portion , delicious French fries…read more Negative: prices and flavor ! The entrees without anything added to it like fries , sides , sauces etc are flirting with almost $20 . I ordered the lamb gyro , sure , it's huge but it's super bland . If it isn't for the sauce , it would have been the worst gyro I have ever tasted . The meat is the frozen lamb meat you buy at places like Restaurant Depot in bulk . Bland , dry , tasteless . Pita bread was okay Conclusion: for the prices they're charging , meat should be cooked fresh , you can literally get a better / same gyro in the frozen section of a Safeway for $4-$5 , even Arby's gyro is better and cheaper because their sauce is tastier at half the price . Lamb gyro is a STAPLE at any Mediterranean grill , 90% of people will order it first and if this is how you deliver a first impression , it looks bad for the rest of the menu

Yummy food, great service, easy parking and nice and clean inside. This place is a winner!…read more We tried 2 Banh mi sandwiches and both were very tasty. The BBQ brisket was perfectly cooked. Tender, melt in your mouth with yummy BBQ sauce + it's in a Banh mi so you get the crispy texture of the fresh baked bread and pickled veggies = perfection! I appreciate fusion food when it's done right! The BBQ pork was also yummy. This one was a more traditional Banh mi flavor and we brought our own hoisin sauce to complement the flavors. What I really like about this place is they have more than just Banh mi. They have momo!! These are Nepali dumplings which are either steamed or pan fried and you can get them loaded with spicy chili sauce and peppers and onions or with other sauces. We got the spicy ones as an add on to the Banh mi. They gave me a small container of spicier sauce that was delicious when used sparingly. Hubby got spring rolls and a soda for a small ad on combo price. Those were freshly fried to perfection and tasty as well. We thought we'd have leftovers but everything was so tasty we ate most of it while talking with the owner who is a really nice guy. Writing this has me craving a return trip!

The bread was soft instead of having that light, crisp baguette texture you'd expect. The pickled vegetables were inconsististently pickled, some tasted more like raw vegetables, and the sandwich included a pickled cucumber, which was unexpected for a traditional bánh mì. The braised beef itself wasn't bad, but the sauce tasted like something from a bottle and leaned very sweet. And the biggest disappointment: when I first opened the sandwich and took it apart, I found a hair right in the middle. The staff were nice and the food came out quickly. You also get a shot glass of hot chai which was nice!
