Tacos del Mar turned into The Quick and The Meh starring a beautiful mysterious gunslinger and her Yelptastic husband sauntering into a small joyless strip mall on the outskirts of Happy Valley to fight off the ruthless hunger that had plagued their afternoon while seeking two tacos to restore peace and satisfaction. Her choice was fish. His were carnitas. The tacos were quick. The tacos were meh. The staff were bored, but at least they did their work efficiently. There is no joy in tacoville. Tacos del Meh.

Taco del Mar: fish tacos with black beans and rice and side of sour cream.

Perhaps the management has changed since 2012 because this spot doesn't seem the same as what's been described in the lower-star reviews. It's not the best but it's not the worst; I'd say it's above average. The space is in a strip mall, it is clean inside, and the staff were fine--not overly friendly but not impolite either. I've had their fish taco combo plate twice in the last two weeks and both times it was fine. The build-your-own options are a nice touch here, and everything I've eaten has tasted fresh enough and didn't come back to haunt me later. Summary: Not as good as some of the taco vendors in the local cart pods but lighter than many sit down Mex in PDX (i.e. Original Taco House, La Caretta), and better (and fresher) than any Taco Bell for just a few bucks more.

I LOVE Mexican food. The spicier the better. While they don't have anything paticularly spicy, it is still one of my favorite place to eat. The manager is very friendly and knows me despite the fact that I only eat here two times a month. The rest of the staff is just as friendly. If you're looking for a quick bite and Mexican is your craving I highly recommen this place.

Wow we were in for a surprise! The waiter was very friendly and efficient, and kept the service moving. We never waited too long for anything either, whether it be cocktails, water fills, the bill. The food was delicious! Unusual combinations and flavorful, I wish I could remember what each dish was - I do remember we loved each one and wish this restaurant was in SF so we could come back regularly. Very happy with this restaurant and their entire staff!

It's a relaxing space - well-designed, with spacious half-moon booths in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows and soothing folksy blues on the sound system. I had the Bullard Breakfast and went the virtuous route with the avocado option. Beautifully presented, served with a trio of condiments: butter, jam, and ketchup. The potatoes were delicious. One star off for the cold, rock-hard toast. One surprise on the way out: a "Kitchen Appreciation Fee" of 3% appeared on the itemized receipt, but not on the menu, the website, or any visible signage. Service was attentive throughout.
