Ground beef taco salad. Another win!

First time to Mi Pueblo, recommended by regular. Now we will be regulars too! Nice little cantina with a fun selection of latin music videos on the tv. The margaritas were made with good tequila, not some nameless well stuff, and they were excellent. The menu has some interesting items, a proper stuffed ancho chile relleno with real queso, and a Molcajete! I had the boring old taco salad, which turned out to be delicious and much more than I could eat. The standout was the homemade corn tortillas, wow! Worth going just for those, so flipping yummy! Service was also really good, friendly, fast, and just the right of attention.

Always great food and service at this local family owned restaurant. Everything is made from scratch. Prices are reasonable. Drinks are great. I have never had a bad meal or poor service from them. The trio enchiladas is a favorite. Red sauce, crema sauce, green sauce = delicious. Their mole sauce is also fantastic.

    Love these, beautifully done

We had excellent service and they were busy for a Tuesday night! The food was fantastic, portions perfect! Good menu with lots of seafood options, perfect for this pescatarian!! The house salsa was so good!!! Yes, they have parking, & they are back off the busy road so it wasn't noisy. Loved the decor, they have these awesome tiles all over. We really enjoyed and would recommend you give this place a try!!

Our family has enjoyed dining at Mi Pueblo from day one. It is exciting to see how the restaurant has matured. Last week we popped in late for dinner. I apologized for the near to closing arrival and the hostess handled the apology graciously. Combo plates for us both which were generously portioned, fresh, and tasty. Our waiter was chill, articulate, and courteous. Sumptuous beef tamale, chicken enchiladas, and carnitas street tacos accompanied by fluffy seasoned arroz and sublime frijoles filled our bellies. The meal imparted the passion we associate with chefs that cook from their heart! My side order of corn tortillas was a treat arousing a small kid time memory sitting in my Abuelita's kitchen watching her make corn tortillas. The whimsical interior decor is filled with all sorts of Mexican art lending a heart warm touch to the dining room's ambiance.

The most delicious AUTHENTIC Mexican food in Portland. The food reminded me of my great grandmothers food, fresh and delicious! Very kind and respectable staff with a clean dining area full of culture and history. Perfect for a quick bite or date night dinner!

I was looking for a comfort Mexican restaurant and this looked like the right place. I came here for dinner on a Thursday night and it was lively with a decent amount of dine ins. It took quite a bit for my party of two to get seated mainly because there was only one server. Food came out fairly quick and while the server didn't check up on us too much, it was easy to flag her down and she was attentive to our requests. Before our main course, we were offered chips and salsa. I decided to go for their dinner plate that came with taco, tamale, sopes with steak as my protein and bean and rice. I thought the food was mediocre. The steak was over cooked and chewy. The tamale was thick and dry. Rice was more mushy than I would like. I wouldn't say the food here is outstanding but if you're feeling for a comfort Mexican meal, then this may be your place.

Third time here. A nice comfortable place with good food. I ordered the chicken in mole and my date, the molcajete. Service was reasonable considering the people in the restaurant. I loved my mole and would recommend it to anyone. Savory and comforting with just a touch of spice. My dates stew was spicy, even for her and she enjoys more heat than I do. She drank lots of water and used my tortillas to help. Even though this dish was good, I don't think she'll order it again. We both had Cadillac Margaritas and as I recalled before dining here, they are strong drunks so be aware. One previous visit here my only complaint was that my dinner plate lacked a yummy savory sauce. We'll be back.

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. I will definitely be back!

For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.

Today my wife and I enjoyed scrumptious Tacotes, one chicken and one Bok Choy with house made salsa. Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past. Now I'm watchful and ready to go back and see what the chef Angel is serving up. What else is so special is Republica was a James Beard award nominee too!
