Working around the corner from taco Del Mar it had always been in my rotation for lunch. I always get the Baja bowl either Vegetarian or chicken. I never get the rice cheese or sour cream And in the past they have always substituted guacamole instead without extra charge.Today I opted for the chicken. The chicken was cold and flavorless. And The vegetables were very skimpy on the top. When I asked for more vegetables the server put as little as possible on.And then even though I do not ever get cheese rice or sour cream Today I had to pay for guacamole. They no longer accept the Mobile Bandit app coupon however it continues to show on the app. I was very disappointed after specifically going there because of the coupon and being told they won't accept it. I asked why they don't contact Mobile Bandit to remove the listing and they said they are too busy! Well guess what. I am too busy to go back to your location anymore! read more

I really enjoy a taco now and then. Sometimes I want that stuff that's more California than Mexico and when I want a quick bite during a work lunch, I go here. Franchise owner is a nice fella. They work hard and when it gets busy, they're able to pump out the food like no other. My favourite is the Fish taco's which I get either hard or soft shell and alway with the cabbage and white sauce and lime. Combo it for a few extra dollars, but just the two taco's is good enough for me. read more

The service here has been horrible the last few times I've come - the night shift is completely different from the day shift. If you go during the night, make sure you go over an hour before closing time or else they will make you feel like you're raining on their parade by coming in to order food even when you're in well before closing for pick up. They will also tell you they are out of pretty much everything you would want like sour cream, guacamole, and even some salsa. Half the menu basically available an hour or so before closing Also, not impressed that even when you pay like $2-4 for guacamole, they are still so stingy with how much they give you for something you pay extra for. If you are able to get everything on the menu that you would like, the food is actually pretty decent and the portions are fairly large. read more

UPDATE: The following was our review from 2013... Good burritos! Consistently good. I go to their locations in Washington State too and, whether BC or WA, they've never disappointed. Don't let the interior fool you. Always yummy n' premium ingredients. Each one is made fresh to order, so you get exactly how you like it every time. That makes everyone happy. They come in two sizes - Mondo & Mondito. Even though the Mondo is just that (huge), you can't help but stuff yourself, they're just so yummy. If you're short on time, they're ready in about 2 minutes. They're a great grab and go meal :) UPDATED 2017 REVIEW: This location is clearly under New/Bad management and staff. Too often they're out-of ingredients (Dawn's review) which is pure laziness... Hot food is cold ... Nothing is drained properly (laziness again) so your burrito's a soggy mush and becomes inedible. They seem concerned only with making sure they don't give you too much (I can't stand that). Despite our positive past experiences/food with previous owners, the new staff/owner of this location couldn't care less. They don't even try. We will not be going back. We've spent (and wasted) a lot of money here and we won't be going back. They should have the common sense & decency to try to make it up (gift certificates) but they seem to lack both. Vancouver is not known for its Mexican food, but I did not expect such a large drop off compared to what is found in Southern California. The difference was day and night. If this branch of Taco Del Mar were located in Los Angeles or San Diego, it would probably go out of business within a year. Taco Del Mar does offer healthier alternatives to flour tortilla, such as spinach or tomato varieties, and also grills each tortilla individually to make it hot and slightly crispy, but that's about all the positives about my mondo burrito. The most significant shortcoming at Taco Del Mar is that their meats are not grilled fresh to order. Piles of meats are pre-cooked and then reheated in steam trays. My first choice of meat (fish) was not even displayed on the steam table, so much for a Baja-style fast food joint. When I asked for the fish, a piece of pre-fried Alaska cod was taken out of the freezer and about to be microwaved before I lost my appetite and chose carne asada instead. Unfortunately, this branch did not have inventory of carne asada or al pastor. They don't even have a vertical broiler to cook the al pastor. So I ended up with my fourth choice, carnitas, which ended up being lukewarm, missing any type of meaty and luscious pork flavor, and was tough to chew. The carnitas was dry, not slow cooked, and it desperately requires additional seasoning. The rice and black beans in the burrito were undercooked, dry, and also hardly seasoned. If not for the creamy and tangy guacamole, the mondo burrito would have been the most bland burrito I had ever consumed. This uninspiring meal was not cheap. $12 for an assembly-line burrito with packaged chips and guacamole is ridiculous. Now I know first-hand how terrible imitation Mexican food in Canada is. read more

Pass. This is the definition of "Mexican" fast food. For the $10+ I am paying for a burrito combo here I'd rather go else where. The burritos are massive but the toppings are anything but fresh and everything is at an added cost. I might come back here for their weekly specials are those seemed like a good deal but for a regular priced meal you are better to go elsewhere for a better quality meal. read more

I am very surprised to see so many positive comments about the staff at this location, however, these reviews were made many, many months ago. My experience was literally laughable. My sister and I went there on Thursday, April 13th 2017 between 7:00 & 7:30pm...this would be approximately 2.5 - 3 hours prior to closing; however niether my sister nor I knew this at the time. So...when my sister ordered a Burrito and was told that they were "out of rice", we assumed they were closing within the hour. Then we asked about going to the other Richmond location which was when the worker offered to make more rice...which would take 10 minutes. "We have time because we don't close until 10:00pm". Ummmm...what? So let me get this straight...you are open for another 2.5 - 3 hours and it takes 10 minutes to make rice and you haven't yet??? How Long have you been out? How many sales have you lost? This is the epitome of laziness! That's when my sister and I looked at each other and decided to go to the other location...I mean, come on! Needless to say, despite the fact that I have had and enjoyed Taco del Mar food a number of times, I will NOT be rushing back to this location any time soon...if ever. Sorry to say, given the opportunity I would have chosen No Stars for my review of this location. Not impressed with the customer service and can't review the food as she was unable to provide the proper ingredients. See my review of the other Richmond location as well. Worst place I've ever been to --- went there last night, ordered 8 beef tacos, only requested to put cheese and lettuce - hardly anything at all. Even my kids were complaining. This is in regards to the TDM at Ironwood in Richmond. I've been going there once or more per week since it opened (several years). I have since quit going there for the past few months. 2 of the female staff are great and friendly. The male is not. There is always dirty food and garbage on some of the tables, and on the garbage box/tray. Cleaning up is definitely not on their priority list. The container for empty cans/bottles is often overflowing. They are frequently "out" of some items (shredded beef, chicken), and the bulk soft drink machine has been "out of order" for months (the franchise owner apparently wants customers to buy the canned/bottled drinks). Often one or both of the washrooms are "out of order". The food is fine... I usually can get what I want, and they remember my order. So I am now frequenting the TDM in north Richmond.... all the bad items I mentioned about the Ironwood location do NOT exist at the north Richmond site. read more

My boyfriend and I eat here at least a couple of times a month, sometimes every weekend! Sharing Saturdays is our favourite, because we get 2 Mondo burrito combos for under $20! The Mondo burritos are consistently delicious. The guacamole is awesome, everything is fresh, and the staff are all really friendly. They know us when we walk in there now. My boyfriend and I have eaten at several Taco Del Mar locations and we both think this is the best one. As a guacamole lover, I can honestly say this location has the best guacamole (they don't all use the same guacamole). Best burritos in Vancouver, probably. read more

I am a big fan of Taco del mar and I've been to may of them. This one is great. The staff are so friendly, they do their best to serve you quickly even when busy and the portion sizes are always great. A taco is a taco to a cetain degree because they all use the same ingredients but at this location it's the service that makes it great. read more

Been going here for years and the quality has been good for a fast food chain. However, I will not be going back due to the lack of consistency of portion size. Got a burrito today with the smallest portion of meat I've ever seen and was invited to double up the meat for an extra fee. If this was my first time there, I would have thought this was the standard size, but knowing what I am used to getting for the past 7 years, I was not satisfied. The server was argumentative and offered no apology. I should have left the smallest burrito I've ever seen with them instead of paying for it. It is a close lunch spot, but sadly they have lost my business. read more
