I stopped here around 3:10am on a Tuesday night with my cousin and two new acquaintances, lol. We walked here from our hotel, which was only a 8-10 min walk. On the adventure here, we were repeatedly stopped by staff at the other establishments, which was slightly annoying. Upon arrival, we were promptly given menus, without really asking tbh, lol. We eventually sat down to look at menu more and then order. I ordered at 3:18am. I got 2 steak tacos, 1 chicken taco, and 1 pastor taco plus a bottle of water. My water and sauces came at 3:20am My tacos came at 3:23am. They were pretty delicious. I realized now that I'm not the biggest fan of pastor. I ended up using my card to pay, and I paid about $3-4 more, in comparison to Mexican money. I wasn't tripping because this is minor compared to other negative encounters. I will note that my biggest recommendation if you're visiting Mexico from another country: GET LOCAL MONEY (pesos). Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Mmmm, the Taco Factory, where over 20 years ago my love for Tacos Al Pastor was born. 2022: my love is still strong. Back in the day, the place was known as Tacos de Fabrica, which translates to tacos from the factory. They still have a semi-automated operation that transforms masa into corn tortillas, because you definitely want a fresh, thin, non-rubbery tortilla to esconse its contents. I'm guessing that more than a few gringos translated the Spanish name into Tacos Made Of Fabric, so at some point they just went with the English name. Taco Factory feeds about a 50/50 mix of tourists and locals, locals who are likely on break or just off work from one of the many adjacent hotels, clubs, and, um, other establishments. The Taco Factory lies about midway down a semi-sketchy walkway that connects both directions of the main drag, Av Kulkulkan. Originally, we'd called that walkway Drugs, Hookers, and Bracelets Alley. There were always a few guys hovering around saying "you want to smoke, sniff, you want a women," while some kid tried to tie a handmade bracelet on your arm, which was also for sale. On my latest visit (Jan 2022), I'd simply call it Strip Joint Bordello Alley. Nobody approached me for smoke sniff, and no kids were around. Still, dozens of guys tried to interrupt my walk with plastic-wrapped photos of female torsos and/or made gestures like they were juggling their moobs. Anyway, onto the food, because that's probably why you're reading this. The Al Pastor "trompo" is still the centerpiece of the place. And the Al Pastor tacos remains the centerpiece of my meals. Just add a little salsa, devour in 3 bites, repeat. I tried a couple other meaty and cheesy taco combinations too. All excellent, especially when they include al pastor. 9 tacos and 2 beers later (and yes, they have Bohemia Oscura), that was $21. If you don't want to be bugged by the occasional beggar and the mooby-bouncing muchachos, sit closer to the trompo, behind the railing. Plus you'll get a great view of guys passing through the sanitizing tunnel on their way into, or out of, the adjacent pleasure palace. I miss the warmth and brilliant white beaches of Cancun, sure. First stop of our Cancun trip was Taco Factory (recommended by a friend). This restaurant offers only outdoor seating, located in an alley. We sat down after a rival restaurant across offered us seats at their restaurant. After ordering the rival restaurant was upset and started to blast music from loud speaker which was almost deafening. Our waiter tried to get them to turn it down but they refused out of spite. We weren't to thrilled about this. We ordered Al pastor tacos and chips and salsa. First the chips and salsa wasn't that bad expect the salsas here in this part of Mexico are very bland . The tacos the same. For the price it wasn't that bad but I was expecting more from the recommendation I was given. Staff was very courteous that's why I'm giving this place 3 stars. We walked around this area at night and seen a lot of customers eating here. So the next day we decided to go on a taco adventure before we leave Cancun. It wasn't busy so service was on point, we ordered a chicken taco and steak taco. The tortilla was made freshly, however it was not soft. The chicken was dry and we added more salsa to help with it. First time trying this place. When you walk down the ally multiple people are trying to talk you into their businesses. We wanted to try somewhere we hadn't been before so we choose the Taco Factory. The captain was our server and he was great. He spoke great English and was attentive to our needs. He kept our drinks full. Our food was delicious. While I was on vacation in Cancun with my girlfriend, we decided to try a taco spot outside of our resort. We chose this location, as the food pics and reviews were mostly positive. And we saw that this place was also crowded, so that must of been a good sign. And we were correct. This place had amazing tacos. When we got a table, I started off with a beer, and they gave us some chips with 4 different salsas. I love a good place that offers multiple salsa types for you to dip your chips in, as it makes it that much more enjoyable. This was a nice way to start off our experience here. After a little bit, we then decided to order a bunch of different tacos to try. We had a steak, pork, chicken, beef, and some spicy ones. Every taco we tried we enjoyed. Everything was fresh on the tacos. My favorite was the steak ones. We definitely got the authentic Mexican taco experience here. My friends and I went downtown to grab some tacos since we wanted to venture away from the resort for a few hours. As we're walking toward the restaurants, we were bombarded with 3-4 different representatives from their respected restaurants trying to convince us to go to their establishments. It was very extremely overwhelming! We settled for Taco Factory because it was the closest to us and with an open area. Interior: It is definitely on the dirtier side... (-1 point) The tables and chairs could just a little more tender and love. We each other 2 tacos per person ranging from pastor, steak, chicken, and lettuce wrap tacos. Pastor with cheese: The flavor was JUST okay. The cheese didn't taste right.... It didn't have that cheesy texture to it.. It was definitely different compared to the tacos with cheese from Mexico City. And it tasted as if the cheese was mixed with some ingredient..... Steak with cheese: It was flavorless.. (-1 point) When we received our check, we made sure to double check our orders and luckily we did since they charged us an extra taco. When I went to this restaurant it was called "Tacos de Fabrica." It has the best tacos and best guacamole I've ever had. Best food I had while in Cancun. Don't expect things to be just like they are in America - try to keep an open mind. The tacos were a mound of meat and melted cheese on a flat tortilla. They give you a bunch of different salsas as well (some were quite spicy!). Any sour cream I had in Mexico was pretty flavorless, but luckily these tacos didn't need it. I had the Worst experience at this place. I'm never quick to assume unjust treatment is due to Sexism or Racism but in this case it felt like a combo. First they sat myself and 2 girlfriends at a dirty table then when we requested to move that's when the bad vibes started. The general table set up is placing a variety of dips for Chips on a wooden serving tray. After leaving us waiting for a lengthy time we were served 4 or 5 cups of dipping sauce on a table scattered and messy (only table without the wooden serving tray ). 2 out of three of us ordered a veggie burrito. Visited during a business trip while looking for a late night snack. This place is a little off the beaten path which is awesome and down an alley way. Has open seating outside on plastic patio furniture which gives you a feel of being local in a very touristy spot. Ordered some salsa and chips and tacos.....the perfect late night snack. You can see the grill right in the middle of the joint and can watch the staff cook over an open flame. Staff was friendly and helped to navigate the beer and hot sauce menus. While I just went for the tacos they do feature a fairly extensive menu. While it might not be the best Mexican food you will ever have.....the food hits the spot late at nigh. Hotel zone tacos. Ok but not the best. On one of the side streets near Coco Bongo. We went for lunch and were pretty much the only people at the restaurant. The waiter was helpful but a little too overly enthusiastic and helpful. He kept coming to us every 2 min or so. Kept taking away our napkins that we could have actually used till we finished our meal. I wanted to just have my meal in peace lol. The tacos are anywhere between 35-45 pesos. David was pretty attentive, even on a Friday night. The street where it is located in Cancun is very busy (near clubs) so it got a tad bit loud. Nothing too bad considering it is Cancun. People don't go there for quiet time :) As for the food, the beef and chorizo tacos were pretty tasty. Beef had a nice, charred flavor. The chorizo added a nice touch. Taco Factory is located down a little side street in the middle of the clubbing district in Cancun, near Coco Bongo, Mandala Nightclub, etc. It's completely inappropriate, which I hated about this place and you don't even see it until you're right in front of it, but suddenly Taco Factory's right there: tables right on the side of the street, with more seating up in the restaurant. And it looks like every other taco place in Cancun. For our big group we were seated on the street, which was fine except the taco place almost directly across the street was blaring the loudest music all during our dinner. That was annoying except for the homeless man who then wandered past our restaurant and started dancing to the music playing on the outdoor speakers. That was actually pretty funny and he was very talented. But I digress. So once we were properly hydrated, we set down to the business of ordering. Taco Factory has what seems like almost 100 different varieties of tacos to order from and between 2 - 3 tacos should satisfy most people along with the free chips and salsa brought out before When the tacos came out, they looked disgusting. As we dug in, I quickly discovered the steak taco was definitely the mediocre meal of the bunch, but all the tacos I tried were very sub-par and tasted quite like beef liver. The meat is very chewy and the re-fried beans look like diarrhea, and they give you a very small amount of rice which is still it is horrible. When the bill came at the end, we were all presently surprised at how HIGH it was - especially compared to the hotel / tourist prices of everywhere around Cancun. So even though this place was a hole in the wall, it really did have some of the okay tacos we had while in Cancun and at a very reasonable price to boot. Decent job, Taco Factory - just please please please get rid of the music across the way so we can enjoy our meal and hear each other speak and relocate somewhere else other than next to a stripper despite the fact that they are next to a stripper club. There are several options on the strip and I asked him for 500-700 dollars worth of food of course we got raped for water and other cost including the all kinds of charges. Look - it is a little taco joint off one of the side streets... a busy one but you could miss it if you don't go looking for it. We hit it one afternoon after going to the strip to purchase a few things to take home (shirts, hats, etc.). Our server was a very polite and effective woman who spoke English very well and provided anything we needed. The prices were relatively cheap and the beers were cold. I had a few different types of tacos and thought that the chicken and cheese were the best of the bunch. My buddy tried the beef nachos and it was a good-sized serving and he seemed to enjoy it. We came with our family for dinner. We ordered two platters to share with one drink each which varied between soda or beer. The total bill came out to around 170 DOLLARS. I understand that the menus says the price but the guy offered us the platters without showing the price until after. Whatever, putting that aside. She was getting bracelets done next door and we hadn't eaten all day (it was already about 4pm) so we popped in next door to see what they had. My taco was edible but did not stand out in anyway. The meat was a bit dry and the tortilla although freshly made were definitely not melt in your mouth. The quesadilla was laughable too. Although there was only one other couple service was nonexistent. Probably because we didn't order much but just because we didn't order much doesn't mean we aren't good tippers. This is México I tip well no matter the tab because I know that's how most make ends meet through tips. When he brought the bill over he stood at the end of the table until we pulled out our $ to pay. I'm not going to run off sir, especially for less than a 100 peso tab.
