Our daughter ordered the enchiladas suiza which she stated were very good. My husband chose the special which he really enjoyed. I had the barbacoa breakfast plate, which comes with barbacoa, two eggs your way, beans, and tortillas. The barbacoa was so tender and delicious, while the beans and eggs were cooked perfectly, full of flavor. Our corn tortillas were also on point. We felt like we had gone back in time due to the prices and portion sizes. I believe my meal was $6.99, and it was one of the more expensive breakfast selections. Pleased to have stopped here by accident. Spacious and although busy, food came out pretty quickly and the waitress was friendly. Had the Caldo de pollo (chicken soup) and it was perfectly yummy! A co worker wanted to meet here for lunch and I had heard good things about this spot so I was looking forward to this place. The reason I give this place 4 stars is because the amount of business they get has surpassed the capacity of their building/tables/parking. It was completely full and the staff wasn't sufficient for the amount of people they had. In regards to the food they had some great lunch specials which were at a very economical price. My family likes Taco Fiesta very much. We usually order Mexican food but their cheeseburger & fries plate is delicious too. My favorites for breakfast are the chilequiles and huevos rancheros over easy but their breakfast special always draws many customers. For lunch and supper, we've enjoyed the Mexican plate, deluxe Mexican plate (with an extra taco and extra enchilada, in addition to the goodies on the regular Mexican plate), chalupas (no meat), chiles relleños and panchos with guacamole, no meat. The only dish I've had which I did not enjoy was the chicken envueltos. For some reason, they are topped with a brown, meaty gravy instead of the fresh, light tomato sauce that I expected. They have a special for every meal, every day so it's hard to overspend. The sweet tea with lime is delicious and served in a huge glass. Milk is available too. Their homemade hot sauce served with chips is good enough to eat as a meal! Believe me, I've been tempted to order nothing else. Service is always good and friendly. Mediocre mexican food in my book. Chalupa was good, fajita meat was decent, enchilada sauce very bland and hamburger leaves something to be desired. Visiting from Tampa and wish we had picked another Mexican joint. We have one in ruskin that puts this place to shame. I've been coming to this restaurant for several years now for lunch and it's always packed. I always get the Chilantro chicken, which is a chicken breast cooked with a cilantro topping with onions and bell peppers. It comes with charro beans and rice and guacamole on a sizzling skillet. It's very delicious and you can't go wrong with it. I sometimes also order the beef fajitas which are usually very tender and served in the same fashion as the cilantro chicken. I always order corn tortillas which are homemade. The chips and salsa are very good as well. I usually try to sit in Martha's section which is all the tables along the center wall. She is the best waitress I've ever had anywhere and is always very attentive and on top of her game. She calls everyone Cariño. They have great daily specials at $5.99 that come with tea! You can't beat those prices! I went on a Friday recently and had the chicken mole which was very good, but I was disappointed in the serving size of the mole. So much good food to choose from! For breakfast, there are a lot of people who like the special but I prefer the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. Lunchtime is a good time for panchos with aguacate. Supper time means the Mexican plate, chiles relleños, chalupas or enchiladas Suizas. When it is a rare chilly night in McAllen, their caldo hits the spot with plenty of fresh vegetables in it. Service is friendly, our orders have always been right and the owner/manager David always greets us. Got back from lunch at Taco Fiesta a few days ago. Don't know why I've never written a review of this place before but after that dayI felt compelled to write a review. I've eaten here for breakfast many many times and you really can't find a better place for a good plate of machacado con huevo with homemade corn tortillas, plus they have a daily special my office manager always has when we go. But I'd never eaten lunch there till a few days ago when I ate lunch there with two of my daughters. I was craving Caldo de Res, and we went there with the hope it would be good. Well folks it was excellent! I still make a better caldo at home, but this was good, the best in McAllen. The girls loved their food and from what I saw being served all the food looks great. This is almost my favorite tex mex restaurant in the area. Only thing that would make it better is if they had some cheap margaritas or beer. The salsa is so spicy sometimes I'd even settle for a wine cooler. The menu has a wide variety of items I have yet to try. Not sure why I always get the same thing. Maybe because it's so good? I'd recommend going at off times. It will still be busy, but if you dare to go right at noon or dinner time, you'll be fighting for a parking spot in and outside of the restaurant. If you like tex mex style food then the Mexican plate is a good choice. Gives you a sampling of the most popular food items. A taco, enchilada, and a tostada.
