We came for dinner on a Saturday night and reservations are definitely needed. The staff is very friendly and helpful when picking what to order. I had Barbacoa and chipotle cherry steak tacos, while my partner had carnitas, California and the shrimp fajita. We both LOVED our food. The chipotle cherry steak was such a bold and delicious flavor. Never had tacos like this and I'm so impressed with the flavor combinations! The restaurant is in an of church and the ambiance is so cool. I think they really hit the spot with this place! We did order the churros and didn't love the caramel filling. Otherwise everything was amazing!

First time here, landed at this place without really looking. I sat at the bar and walked right in. The service was great, super friendly and attentive. I had the shrimp ceviche plate and a duck taco to go with that. Both were delicious, I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu. The highlight of the meal though was my cocktail, I ordered a Paloma and I was so so happy to find out that it wasn't sweet at all. I was a little apprehensive to order a cocktail for that reason, yet it was perfectly tart and refreshing. I love that I'm finding great places to eat at here in Phoenix, being I just moved here.

We are a fan. Love that we can enjoy tacos and drinks inside of this historic church. The complimentary jalapeno house salsa and house chips were great. Loved the green chile queso. Enjoyed the cherry steak taco. We also liked the enchilada, shrimp taco, and california taco. Also, we had the best horchata here! I also asked for a shot of Captain Morgan which they happily gave me so I could add it to my horchata. There was a wait on a Wednesday night so I recommend making a reservation.

Church interior has been converted into a restaurant.

The Taco Guild is such a cool venue. My mom and I were cruising down the road looking for a place to eat. I spotted a few different options on Yelp, this being one of those options. As we drove by, I yelled, "Turn here!" so that my mom would pull into the right driveway. The building is an old church that has been converted into a restaurant. They have kept many of the structures that make it familiar as a church such as the stone steeple outside, the stained glass windows inside, and pew seats converted into dining chairs throughout the great hall. It is fun to see the full bar positioned where you would normally find the pulpit, but instead of a preacher, there is a bartender serving your favorite libations and large screen television showing the latest game. Tacos aren't the only thing on the menu. While these all seemed delicious, we both enjoyed a chile rellano. Prior to that, we indulged in their white queso with green chiles. It was so addictive we took some home with us. The food is very anglicized. If you are from the midwest, it will probably seem authentic. If you have been living in the southwest and eating any combination of Mexican, TexMex, CaliMex, New Mexican food, this place probably won't be that pleasing to your palette. It's decent food, but if I had a chance to return or try something new in the area, I'd opt for the latter. Although it was a fun experience because of the ambience. Plus the staff were friendly and diligent in performing their jobs.

Cool atmosphere and the bartender was pretty friendly however this place is expensive and the taco was mediocre in my opinion. I had the chicken tinga and a side of beans. This was my second stop of the day after going to huarachis downtown, might not be fair to compare the two but.. they're both Mexican restaurants that sell tacos in Phx... disappointing experience here however gorgeous restaurant and like I said the bartender was friendly and changed the tv to the golf tourney at my request which I always appreciate. Margs were good too but I don't think I would return.

The holy grail of tacos no pun intended. This taco spot is in uptown phoenix. This location used to be a church but they revamped it to a taco spot. I love confession hour lol pun intended and taco Tuesday! I know 8 bucks is a bit much for a taco but they are gourmet and more than enough protein, toppings, and flavor in each. I only ate two the last time I went. There was nothing old about their old fashion very tasty no cherry. Service was great and they filled up that chip bowl at least 3 times . Great service, nice ambiance you can come here for a corporate event, happy hour with friends or a date. Highly recommend !

This feels like one of those places people hype up more than necessary because the interior and overall concept are undeniably cool. Don't get me wrong, the tacos were good, but the price point felt a little hard to justify. I'd personally rather head to Taco Chelo or Céntrico for a more satisfying value. That said, if you're stopping by for a small bite or a single drink, the space itself is worth seeing. The stained glass and renovated church setting are genuinely striking and give the place a unique atmosphere. The key lime crème brûlée was solid, but it didn't quite wow me but the service was good and I can appreciate that.

Great tacos, even better atmosphere! The architecture here is stunning and the service is fast and attentive. Highly recommend the Lamb and Duck tacos for something different. Great happy hour spot if you're in Midtown. Will definitely be back!

Cool place, interesting being in an old church and very good tacos. The chips are light and good. Salsa trio is impressive with a nice variety of tasty, tangy, and spicy but not deathly. The queso was a really generous serving and plenty to share for a group. The house margarita was a little weak for me but perfect for my wife. I had a Maestro Dobel margarita that was delicious. The barbacoa and carnitas tacos were very good. The brisket had a nice Smokey flavor but was overly fatty. The rice was a bit bland. We also got the elote in a bowl. Nice flavor, but clearly not just shaved off the cob. The grilled burrito and quesadillas look good. Something to try next time.

We came back a second time just to be sure we loved it here, and....we do. I've been dreaming about this place all week. The brisket tacos are supremely delicious, and Sean our bartender put us on to some good drinks and sides/starters to try. Absolutely love this place and will be back often

What a way to kick off our lovely girls' weekend with my daughter at Taco Guild! The ambience, the drinks (thank you to our great bartender/server!) and the appys were perfect! It was one of my all time favs, but Hadnt been here in a while since I no longer work downtown, but it was just as good as I remembered! Thank you for starting off our Friday beautifully!

Chipotle Cherry Steak Taco

Hands down the best queso of all time and the trio of salsas you get on arrival are each unique and incredible! A tried and true, my ride or die and worth every penny, the chipotle cherry steak taco on the homemade corn tortillas. Truly an art piece of a taco. These tacos are incredibly filling; especially if snacking on chips, but if you feel like you truly want the whole experience, the guild style style street corn is spicy buttery perfection in a cup!

My husband and I traveled from San Antonio, Texas to enjoy a weekend in Arizona celebrating our anniversary and his birthday. We are very harsh critics of tacos being from South Texas so we wanted to see what Arizona had to offer. We were in desperate need of some food after feeling like we were about to die, trying to foolishly hike the Cholla Trail on the Camelback Mountains. I stayed in the car while my husband ran inside to grab us some tacos and drinks before heading back to our hotel since we had a dinner reservation later that evening. My husband asked the bartender which of the beef tacos which was better, the barbacoa or the brisket. The guy strongly recommended the brisket, so that's what we went with. We also got the chicken tinga taco and the Mexican Coke and we were given a free order of chips and salsa. The beef taco was very good, very creative. The slaw and fried pickle chips were really good, but the brisket was a bit too lean and dry to work well in a taco. We were definitely expecting it to have a little bit more fat and moisture. The chicken taco was insanely delicious, we absolutely loved it! Their tacos come on corn tortillas that are thin but sturdy, and they warmed them up just right, nothing worse than a cold corn tortilla that rips in the middle of eating. The chips and salsa were so delicious, the chips were still hot as if they just made them and the salsa definitely tasted like it was fresh from that morning. The price-point was definitely higher than what we would pay in San Antonio but everyone told us that is to be expected one in Scottsdale. The restaurant itself is an old renovated cathedral and it is so beautiful! There were so many beautiful places to see, I'm definitely looking forward to planning another trip to Arizona.

Every time I come here it gets more packed, which is both annoying and completely understandable because the food is ridiculously good. The tacos are fantastic, the fries are life-changing, and the hongos fries specifically deserve their own national holiday. This place made the Top 100 food spots in America list, and honestly? Deserved. It's the best taco spot in the country in my opinion and makes places like Torchy's feel like they're competing in junior varsity. The vibe is also way above average for a taco joint; lively, clean, and full of people who look like they just took their first bite and immediately started planning their next visit. The taco crew is always friendly too, even while dealing with lines longer than a DMV on a Monday. If you don't know what to order, here's the move: Get one taco or an especial if you're a cheese enthusiast, a medium fry with your topping of choice, and guac with chips. We went right when it opened on a Saturday. It was super busy! There was almost no where to park! Inside was spacious and we found a seat easily for the 4 of us. You walk up to order (like chipotle) and then take your food to your seat. The line was almost out the door but moved relatively quickly. I tried all the salsas and the orange one was my favorite. None of them are very spicy, in my opinion-they do have some heat but nothing that will blow your pallet out. My 18 month old had the red one and liked it, if that tells you anything. The pastor is what I ate, the gringa and the taco. Both were exceptional. The meat was super flavorful and all of the toppings contributed to the flavor. The gringa-with the cheese was very greasy, so be ware. Not sure if it really needed that, the taco version is perfect to me. Chips come with a big thing of the red salsa and that was good to have. Lots of families were there. They don't have high hairs just fyi.

The tacos are good but they're not what I was expecting. This is more of a fast food style taco. The whole restaurant reminds me of Rubios. The only things we didn't like were the chips and the rice and beans were not good at all, not even Mexican. But like I said the food is good with nice flavors but for a $5 taco I expected plates and table service. No one wants to stand up to order a marg and then order another one after, they'll prob just order 1 marg and go somewhere else when they're done eating, it's not smart. It's not relaxing to eat here after work. We were all fighting for the tables and it's not a vibe. Not enough inside seats and tons of outdoor seats. I'd totally tell the owner to close up the register area, expand the kitchen, and get the girls to be servers. No one wants to pay full price ceviche and tacos to a restaurant with no table service. The vibe doesn't match the price so I think you should change the vibe to be high end and step up service to match the prices of food. Or match the vibe to a fast food all the way and change some prices. The food is fast so they can easily do a drive thru or walk up and order window. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time.
