Awesome place. Love how it's an old church turned into a restaurant. The chips felt like it needed more salt but it was good. They give you complementary chips and salsa. Also we got margaritas and they are really good. I got the nachos which is on the happy hour menu only I believe and I added nachos. They were good. I also got the carnitas taco. Didn't like this one but the shell was good. We also got churros but they weren't the best. I think the chocolate sauce tasted weird. read more

We enjoyed a lazy, late lunch at the Taco Guild, and we ate everything: angel wings, ceviche, Coffee Braised Beef, Grilled Shrimp Tacos, Molida Lamb, nachos, chips and salsa, grilled romaine salad. It was delicious. Favorites were the molida lamb taco, coffee braised beef in a taco and with the salad, the salsas, and the grilled romaine. Is that everything?! Patio seating was comforting a cool afternoon, and had good service. Our order was taken quickly, and our server made recommendations, dealt with our questions, and handles our additions and changes - with good humor. Our dishes were brought out as they were ready, so we were able to savor them fresh from the kitchen. It was fun sharing and comparing the dishes as they arrived. Rich flavors came in the molida lamb and coffee braised beef. The salsa was smoky and complex. There was also a cooler green salsa and a spicier orange one. Jicama added a good crunch to the shrimp ceviche. The grilled romaine was perfect on its own and made a full meal with a side of beef. The atmosphere at this former church is lush and fun. Between that and the delicious food, there's little wonder why there is often a line waiting on the weekends. After a disappointing wait at another taco spot, so glad we zipped over here. No wait on a Saturday night and grabbed a table. Food was so fast I had to stuff my face to keep up with the smorgasbord. Loved the lamb tacos but we subbed out blue cheese for cojita. Hands down, the best variety of salsa and just the right about of spice for my kind of hotness. Loved the street style carnita tacos, bummed they don't carry al pastor which are my top fave. The angel wings are pretty bomb to start with the chips and salsa. Loved the side of corn as well. Really can't go wrong with any off the choices. Wish I had room for churros because that's my weakness. Will have to return I guess ;) The only downside was the night we came in they ran out of cerveza that night. But my Latitude Adjustment cocktail hit the spot being light and refreshing. And Taco Guild is genius - tequila is the answer and they carry the best selections for you to sip and feel the joy of a seriously well cultivated blanco, reposado and/or anejo tequila. I love the history behind this place...Who doesn't want to go to church if they serve up tacos and beer? Definitely one of my go to taco spots here in the valley when I come home to visit. If you want to visit a place with a great atmosphere, great food, and incredible vibes, look no further than the Taco Guild. I took my wife here for a date lunch and we enjoyed every bite. We started with a couple margaritas and tried a couple of their beers on tap, highly recommend the drink, not to mention, the bar tender was awesome. I will say our drinks should've come out sooner, and the food came out really fast which made for a quicker dinner --but the food--five star the cherry chipotle steak taco was off the charts good...everyone raved about the food. Went here today for bottomless brunch and the experience was a very solid 4/5. Overall the food and the mimosas were delicious. I highly recommend the tres lechea french toast. They're $20 bottomless mimosas deal also includes unique flavors such as prickly pear, mango and pineapple in addition to oj. Here are some pros and cons: Pros- food and drinks are solid, very cool theme and interior (this used to be a Methodist church), friendly service, easy to make a reservation on OpenTable. Cons- the parking lot was impossible to park at 11:30 AM on Saturday as they share the lot with a thrift store and a Starbucks- i actually had to park on the street, it took approximately 10-15 minutes between each "bottomless" refill and the waitress would oftentimes disappear. the brunch menu is also very limited and the full menu is unavailable Would I come back? The rating is high due to cleanliness, fast service, and an amazing waiter, Fernando. Once we sat down Fernando came with a wonderful smile and great attitude. We quickly ordered the queso and got it received within five minutes! The queso is a MUST. the chips are also very good too. Now to the hard part- my husband ordered the grilled burrito. He mentioned it was dry and the chipotle steak he got was a very unique taste? The tortilla was well cooked. He did not touch the coleslaw or jalapeño as he doesn't eat that. I ended up getting the chipotle aioli steak, carnitas, and chicken tinga. The chicken tinga was dry and not flavorful. The chipotle steak was sweet. Even with the chipotle sauce. It's a unique taste but was not my cup of tea. The carnitas were good. Not too much flavor but to the point i can eat it. They do load them up so i think one or two tacos are enough. They also add in lots of cilantro and onion. I do love these garnishes but if you don't then be prepared! The rice i got was very dry as well so don't recommend getting it. I also got the guild corn and i did like it very much! There was just the right amount of spice and perfect for my taste. The Horchata (not pictured) tasted heavily of cinnamon. More than i would prefer it. But still decent. Overall, the corn, queso, ambiance, and service are the true winners. Fernando spoke to us after i voiced my opinion and had a wonderful conversation about new ownership and upcoming g changes. He recommended their alcoholic drinks. Asked several Uber drivers where's a good spot to get some grub... and every single one of them mentioned this local taco spot. They definitely weren't wrong.. the tacos you can pick flour, corn or lettuce wrap. The meat portions are as big as your fist - the quality of the meat is nice and tender, juicy, flavorful and tasty. If you order three tacos you can get a free side order of rice or beans . The complimentary homemade chips and salsa are excellent . Chips have a nice crispy texture to them and four different salsas. Pretty much find something you'll love. Can ask for as much as you want. The food is good and the service is good. Loved the history behind this place ... used to be an old church ... they kept some of the memorabilia inside too, which is neat. read more

From hostess Joanna to bartender Steve, absolutely loved the service. The ambiance was fabulous too. We dropped in on a busy Saturday night, so it was packed, but still enjoyable and we were able to snag some spots at the bar after a bit. Also great -- drinks, tequila list, and the chips and salsa! My margarita was great and we tried several of the tequilas on the list that were excellent. Nice thin chips served warm with a tasty salsa. Tacos were just meh for me. I had the steak, the shrimp, and the pork one and all were just really fine. I thought the pork was a little tough. I've just had a lot of tacos I like more. We had the tres leches cake and I do not know why it was so hard and dry! It looked beautiful, but was the densest, driest cake I've ever experienced. We couldn't get past a few bites. Obviously others liked this place a lot more than I did, and as I loved the ambiance and service I'll eventually make my way back to give it another shot. read more

Beautiful place with lots of character. Love that it's a repurposed church and the stained glass windows but as far as food goes I really wasn't impressed. The meat was flavored ok but overall the dishes weren't anything extraordinary especially for the price point. Their tacos are street tacos size and are $6 to $7 a pop with no sides. However if you order 3 tacos you get a side free. While I am never against paying that price for tacos I expect much more as far as flavor goes if I'm going to cough up that much per taco. Service was also very slow. They weren't very busy but our server disappeared for a good 30 minutes. read more

This place was fantastic it's an old historic church converted into the best Mexican restaurant in Phoenix: Now they specialize in tacos but we opted for the shrimp ceviche and enchiladas combo for a late lunch / early dinner. The shrimp ceviche had huge bite size pieces of shrimp followed with fresh slices of avocado, crispy cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and cilantro that when you'd bite into the ceviche itself you could taste all those fresh ingredients dancing in your mouth it was heaven on your pallet. They brought us fresh tortilla chips that came fresh out of the fryer they were nice and hot and evenly coated with a light sprinkle of salt. The chips came with four different salsas everything from mild to habanero hot my favorite was the habanero of course. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita to drink with a sugar rim and I can't rave enough about how good the margaritas here are it was outstanding the bartender sure knows how to make great drinks. Now for the enchiladas combo Wow!! They were a cheese enchiladas but you had the option to purchasing a protein to top it off and we went with the shredded beef. The beef itself was super tender and flavorful it came with beans that sent me to the moon and back I've never had beans like this before and I've eaten at tons of Mexican restaurants in my lifetime and the rice was just as good. Kelly was our server and she was just a sweetheart so attentive and had a lot of good recommendations on good things to eat on their menu the ambiance here was just so beautiful and peaceful I can't say enough good things about not just eating here but being here I highly recommend trying this place before eating at any other restaurant in Phoenix we don't have good restaurants in Mesa or the East Valley at all so the extra drive is definitely worth it. read more

We have had so many positive experiences here. Moved to Phoenix about a year ago and this has been somewhere we keep coming back to. We love the chips and array of salsas. The chips are warm, perfectly crispy and salty. Cocktails are all wonderful and we are still working our way through the menu. Food is on more expensive side but for us it's worth it. The staff is super friendly and helpful when ordering, figuring out to go situation, or doing margarita math with us to see how many drinks each margarita to go order contains. Last but not least the space is very cool. The stained glass and pieces from the buildings previous life add a memorable touch. When we have guests in town, it's the space they usually remember the most. Definitely worth a try! read more

My dad and I are here for a mid day meal and It ended up being happy hour. The atmosphere was amazing, I believe it is in an old church but it has been remodeled to look like an expensive restaurant. There's a huge chandelier in the middle and the decor is beautiful with the stained glass windows. We ordered margaritas and were surprised with free chips & salsa. The margs were great and the salsa was average. We then ordered the pulled chicken nachos and wings. Both tasted bland to me. We each got a taco too (nachos were huge) but wanted to try the tacos. I ordered the coconut shrimp taco and my dad ordered the lamb taco. Both were bland. I think tacos should have Ake zest and pop of flavor and was highly disappointed with the lack of flavor here. Stopped by here for lunch today. I love the look of this building. Being in construction I like to look at the stuff that people probably don't pay attention too. I got three barbacoa tacos flour and the beans. The tacos were awesome as always. The beans were good too. I love the chips and salsa too. The habanero salsa is really good and my fav. I was in town today and had been seeing this church transformed into a gloriously decorated restaurant @tacoguild on Instagram so I decided to try it. Tacos sounded good today. I loved every minute. The seating was spacious and service was friendly and so quick. The stained glass windows, vaulted wood ceilings, altar/bar as the center of attention, and baroque and renaissance style artwork is done tastefully and I felt like I was in a special space. Perfect to worship the taco in all its forms. House made salsa (that increases in level of spicy from the largest bowl clockwise) and chips are complimentary. I chose 3 tacos: CHIPOTLE CHERRY STEAK, STREET STYLE CARNITAS, & BARBACOA. All very good. My favorite was the ChipotleCherry Steak Taco (sub Oaxaca for Bleu Cheese, as suggested by my wonderful server, Esequiel).
