First off, the warm flour tortillas and butter they brought to the table instantly took me back to my childhood. Standing patiently by the comal waiting for fresh cemait (tortillas in our native language) while my grandmother had a stick of butter ready to lather them down. But that little extra heat on the tortillas here? It elevated the butter to another level. And I can't leave out the homemade salsas they bring to the table -- each one had its own unique flavor profile with different heat levels to fit whatever mood your tastebuds are in. So good. The creamy beans with cheese and spice paired with the homemade corn tortilla chips were perfection. And the elote? We definitely should've ordered two. My son and I both loved the carne asada tacos -- those alone are worth coming back for. The homemade jamaica was so refreshing. My son said it tasted just like Tata's, which is saying a lot because he only gets that when we visit Tata in Payson. If you're looking for a truly authentic experience that feels like being welcomed into the home of someone who learned to cook with love and tradition passed down through generations, this is the place. Now next on my list: Bacanora. From what I hear, it's incredibly hard to get into -- and it's another concept from James Beard award-winning Chef, Rene Andrade. Gave this a shot after seeing had received a Michelin mention. I had a Carne Asada taco and a hongos(fried oyster mushrooms) taco. The carne asada was okay, needed some lift with a salsa. The hongos, which I had been looking forward to, felt way too fatty/greasy for me. The mushrooms are battered, and deep-fried, there is an avocado sauce and a chili oil drizzle. For me that was just too much. Something with a more distinct flavor and perhaps a little acid would have been a nice touch. To me, the elote and the beans were the most flavorful, even venturing into the best elote I have had. Service was good. It is very loud and difficult to have a conversation in the space. I've had their Asada Fries, which come with a 10oz ribeye, frijoles (I usually go without), queso aguacabe, salsa bandera, cebolla, cilantro, serrano frito, crema, and baja. Every single ingredient adds something important, and together it makes the dish incredibly flavorful. On a separate occasion, I tried the Bistec Ranchero, which comes with a 28oz bone‑in ribeye, salsa ranchero, elote (I chose to double papas al disco instead), papas al disco, salsa bandera, frijoles, cebolla, and chilitos. The combination of ingredients in this dish was outstanding, everything worked together perfectly, and it ended up being the best thing I've eaten so far this year. One thing I love most about this spot is their portions. They always give generous servings for the cost, and it makes every visit feel like a great value. Was on a walk with the girlfriend when we passed this place, and boy oh boy what a hidden treasure we have found. This place exceeded every expectation, I'm completely blown away. For starters, the environment feels so vibey; everything feels so disco punk from the passport menus to the custom stone plates and wall decor. I could spend all day in this restaurant just working and sipping margaritas. Secondly, the most friendly staff in the world. They were so quick to get us seated, cracking jokes with us and making menu recommendations for each of us. I wanted to be friends with everyone there. Finally, the food. As if this place couldn't get any better - probably the single greatest carne asada taco I've ever had, and I don't say that lightly. I have a favorite taco spot and I'm pretty loyal to it - this kind of thing is a big deal in Phoenix. But I swear I finished that taco and was considering if I had to change up my go-to spot; the asada tasted so fresh and the tortilla cooked just right. I also tried the Crispy Papa taco but just wasn't a huge fan personally, my girlfriend thought it was great though. All in all, a very easy 5 stars. I really loved the food here! My coworker has been talking about this place for so long to me so I finally went. And twice in one day lol. I went for lunch and had the vampiro taco with chicharron and a carne asada taco. The tortillas were handmade and were so delicious and the chicharron was so crispy. They put a lot in my 1 taco. I also tried their famous beans but unfortunately it was too spicy for me, but my husband loved them and said they were the perfect amount of spice. When we came back again that night with one of my friends, I ordered the carne asada tacos again and we all shared the concha ice cream sandwich dessert. That was amazing. We also had micheladas and they said their michelada mix is made in house. It was so refreshing and delicious after a long hot day. After that we were pretty much in a food coma. I definitely would go back here again. The only that sucks is the parking. It's basically all paid street parking but that comes with the area it's in. Either way it's totally worth it to eat here. My friends and I ate at Huarachis for the first time while celebrating a birthday. We live in the west valley so I made a reservation to be on the safe side. I'm glad we did - it was a Saturday night and the place was pretty full. TOP TIP: look for parking behind the restaurant first. The next closest parking lot was $30 for two hours, which is absurd. Parking behind the restaurant is free but limited and first-come first-serve. The food was all excellent. We started with the Quesadilla and the Tortillas & Butter. The Quesadilla was excellent - super cheesy. The star of the dish is the Frijol Dip however. Delicious with just a hint of heat. The Tortillas and Butter were good, but they aren't kidding when they say 'charred'. They were a tad too chewy and well done for a couple members of our group. For mains the 4 of us shared the Bistec Ranchero. We didn't know if it would be enough food for all of us, so we also got a taco each. It was definitely enough food. The Bistec Ranchero is definitely enough food for 4, especially if you start with a couple apps to share. For tacos the groups favorite was the Lala Lengua. Someone in our party has lived in Mexico and says these are some of the best lengua she's ever had. The Bistec Ranchero was phenomenal. The meat was cooked to perfection. The sides were all delicious. The salsa ranchera is not to be skipped. 10/10. Definitely recommend getting an extra side of escabeche. At first look the place didn't strike me as a particularly delicious place but looks can be deceiving. As soon as we sat we had a waitress that was helpful and got us drinks on a timely manner. The ambiance was decent but nothing to rave about, felt more old school. I and around 5 others shared two of the 28oz steaks as it says it can feed 4 people each, which I would hope so considering they are $100 each. They came with sides and such which I must say were seasoned quite well and pared nicely with the steak, I'd also like to mention that the steak was cooked to order. Chef Rene does not miss. I've been here a few times, including the Kino Bay Sundays. This is a legit tasty taco spot. But it's more than tacos. Everything on the menu is a hit so you can't go wrong. My favorite color is pastel pink and this place has tons of it. The color scheme of a light sage green and pink is awesome, and the mirror tiles above the bar go perfectly. There are shelves with lots of interesting tchotchkes, and stool seating that looks outside onto the sidewalk. There's a lot of pink neon, and I imagine this place looks pretty cool at night. We ordered: *Jamaica aguas frescas *Chicharron Vampiro *Carne asada taco *Pescado Taco *Frijol dip Everything was absolutely delicious, and I could not stop eating that Frijol Dip, even after I was full. This is the infamous Bacanora's sister restaurant that opened about two years ago. Their menu is more fast casual and, unlike Bacanora where you almost always need a reservation to get in, you can just walk in and get seated or order takeout on the spot. This restaurant serves Sonoran-style Mexican food. I tried the carne asada taco ($6), which automatically comes on a flour tortilla. They had a DJ playing at 5pm on a Saturday, and the inside of the restaurant was very loud (too loud!) and lively. Upon walking in, it was hard to know who to speak with to place my order. I kind of wandered over to the bar and was eventually helped by someone. The taco itself was okay. It had beans on it, which the menu didn't specify. The carne asada was tender but could have been more flavorful. For $6 plus tax per taco, I likely won't come back for their tacos. I also only liked one of the salsas (the brownish red colored one) that came on the side. The elote was good but very wet and the ear of corn was tiny for the $9 cost. The sauce on it was SO GOOD though. Nice and spicy. The tacos were good. The potato one was my favorite. The fish one could have used a sprinkle of salt on the fish after it was fried, but it was still good. The carne asada taco was good and had plenty of meat. My only critique is that the last couple of bites of it were salty. The escebeche was good. I thought it was going to be a tiny side of it since it was only $3, but it was a humongous bowl lol I was able to take some home with me. My salsas didn't come until I was halfway done with my first taco. It comes with 3. 2 of them didn't taste like much (to me) but the green salsa was really good. Lively, no frills, and bustling. Service - Decent overall. Nothing standout, but nothing negative either -- things moved smoothly.
