We had dinner here with friends and all I can say is it was incredible. We started with cocktails and I had the Black Dahlia which was onolicious and strong! My wife had the guavalajara and our friend had the Spanish 77. The cocktails were nice and strong the way we like um! We then all shared pan con tomate, potato croquettes then the octopus ceviche and ended with the ribeye steak, all of which were delicious. Dessert was cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake which broke da mouth! I gotta mention the atmosphere was chill and cozy as it's in a house converted into a tapas bar. Had an amazing experience at Dahlia's this evening. The photos speak for themselves here, but it's worth mentioning how amazingly crafted each dish we had was. The service was wonderful and the vibes were perfect. After visiting Barcelona, I have been on the hunt for a tapas spot that feels authentic and hits the mark. Dahlia's certainly did so! Dinner last night at Dahlia's was fabulous. The owner was so gracious and welcoming, the staff friendly and professional, great wines, all the right vibes for a fun dinner with friends. Recommend going with a group that likes to share and ordering everything. My personal faves were the grilled shrimp w a duo of herby tartar and zingy cocktail sauce, potato croquettes, octopus carpaccio (that salsa negra has the perfect smoky heat), and the grilled portabella mushroom served over a super flavorful bean puree (on the special list, but they really should keep this on the permanent menu). Here's the scoop: Dahlia Tapas Tequila & Wine is one of those places you almost want to keep to yourself... but it deserves the hype. Start with the potato croquettes -- phenomenal. Jamón Serrano and Manchego inside, perfectly crisp outside, with brava sauce and crema that make the dish. The sauce in particular is outstanding: rich, slightly spicy, and the kind you want to drag every last bite through. I sat at the bar and had a couple of cocktails by Michaela, an excellent mixologist and great conversationalist. The Guayalajara (Mezcal Unión, aperitivo, guava purée, lime, agave) was bright and beautifully balanced. La Madrina (El Silencio mezcal, Chartreuse, St. Germaine, agave, lemon juice, Burlesque bitters) was smoky, herbal, complex -- and strong enough that the mezcal's name almost hints at a blackout if you're not careful. The vibe is intimate, cozy, and effortlessly hip -- the kind of neighborhood place that feels like a great discovery. Pro tip: Dahlia Tapas will be featured on PBS's Check, Please! This location is absolutely beautiful, and the perfect spot for a date night. It's intimate, cozy, and a little exotic. We ate outside, December evening, and all that's needed is a light jacket (legit, Ms. Congeniality fans). The staff was very polite and quick, and the menu offers different tapas, small to large. I would say they certainly are more on the small to medium, and small is definitely small, but full of flavor!! My husband and I spent 2 weeks in Barcelona and we always crave jamon iberico, and have yet to find anything close. Of course we're not going to get the same thing like Spain; however something close would be nice which is why we were so excited to try this spot. The jamon on the menu is a small small plate ($30) and it tastes like they lightly sear or soak in olive oil & salt. It was good, but not what we were hoping for. I think the charcuterie was well worth the value (price, flavor, and amount). Had a great time here! The food was awesome, especially the lamb chops and the Spanish dates (we actually ordered them twice). Everything paired really nicely with the Spanish red we had too. But I did feel portions were way bigger than I expected for tapas. The place itself is super cozy, but once it started to fill up, it got pretty loud and the service slowed down a bit. We went for the Valentine's Day experience/menu. Had reservations for 7:15pm but they were behind on previous reservations so I think we finally sat around 8pm. The restaurant is a small, cute, close seating spot. The Valentine's Day menu was good, we had the ribeye which was yummy, cooked really nicely. It did seem a little chaotic in there for a little bit, we kept getting the wrong food to our table and then out food out of order but eventually things straightened out. I would say if you go here on a special event night don't be in a rush and have time to wait. The food was delicious, you could tell the menu was well thought out and prepared. The bar drinks are really good. Service overall was good, our server was friendly and fixed any issues we had very quickly. Boy were we late to this party! Until we saw this restaurant on "Check Please" on PBS, were we missing out on one spectacular find. The restaurant is charming, a hundred year old house converted to a fabulous restaurant. The staff is so friendly and helpful, making suggestions of all their selection of Tapas. Don't miss the potato croquettes with a spicy sauce, they are perfection. Crispy exterior with a flavorful, moist and creamy interior. The grilled shrimp were also perfection. I'm from LA, so I'm incredibly spoiled with amazing food everywhere. Our friends in Arizona booked Dahlia Tapas Tequila & Wine for dinner, and as their "foodie friends," they told us we absolutely had to try it. The ambiance is super charming. I love restaurants that feel like you're dining in a cozy house or backyard lit up with string lights. Inside there's also a beautiful bar with great cocktails, which really adds to the experience. The food left me impressed and ordering more just to try more (one of the perks of a tapas restaurant). The wine was great, and our waiter was phenomenal, helping us decide on the showstoppers and guiding us through the wine selections. The owner came out multiple times to check in, which I always think is an important touch that you don't get everywhere you eat. It shows the love the owner puts into the place and that they appreciate you spending your hard-earned money there. Everything we ordered was delicious. The ribeye was perfectly cooked, and the sauces tied everything together. The dates are not one to miss, and the shishito peppers had the perfect amount of heat for a side dish. We had the most incredible time here. We said goodbye to and celebrated our dear friend who is moving back to Chicago. It was without exaggeration the perfect experience! The food is absolutely incredible. We ordered the roasted veggies, anchovies, grilled shrimp, and bread with tomatoes. So excited to see this spot on 7th occupied! The first time I visited, I came for drinks with friends but ended up ordering food because the menu looked so good. We came back for a double date dinner and it was tons of fun to try several different things. The potato croquettes came recommended (for good reason) and I have to agree they're a can't-miss. We also enjoyed the tostada trio and the dates, but the lamb was really a standout--and easy to share. For drinks, I recommend the Black Dahlia and the Seville, but they also have seasonal specials. Both times I've been, the service is exceptional. Depending on how hungry you are, it can get a little pricey, but it's great food and a beautiful atmosphere. Top notch! My partner found this off open table and surprised me in celebrating our 6 year anniversary here. I'll start off saying I was grateful they were accommodating to our being 10 minutes late for our reservation. We'd called ahead and informed them that we were behind. They said, "ok, see you when you get here". Parking is tough because it's a small lot and there's a lot next to the building south of it but it's hard to see and find at night. We ended up parking behind the Coffee spot at the corner and walked north up 7th ave to find it. The lights and sign are cute and easy to spot driving by. We were ready to ask our server to seat us outside upon seating us close to the entrance at the small table we had, but quickly felt as though the loud inside with laughs and groups and the tight space gave to the ambiance there. We enjoyed it and decided to stay seated. Had an amazing server, Reyna, who immediately welcomed us with such warmth and realness. We loved her vibe and loved how authentic she was with us. Gave us some wonderful recommendations on the menu and we took all but one, mainly because my boo doesn't like tomato's that much (I know, so sad!) The lamb chops - came with some yogurt and mint of sorts... when I tell you I was struggling to NOT suck on the bone that was real. The flavor of the seasoning and they were so perfectly cooked. Finally, the ribeye... we were stuffed and trying to save our tummies to the savory ribeye which we ordered cooked medium rare, and it came out so perfect. The tenderness, the flavor, came with a cebolla atop and two sauces. My partner enjoyed the red spice and the oil to the side was my jam. We decided also on the dessert which was a crema with berries and it was literal perfection, almost like a crème brûlée type of custard with torched top, blueberries and raspberries on top. I was surprised to see the inside ambience and how clean it is compared to the outside. The service was on point, wine suggestions and all the amazing dishes. I've been to a high end tapas before and honestly, hit me with a car, this place did their things! Elevated quality and great service. I am definitely coming back for my Octopus Capacio! Honeeeeey! That surprise me with your Mole' sauce under the sea of Octopus got my taste buds going Whaaaat????! And the lamp chops are melting in my mouth and into my soul! Grab me a paramedic! I need to be resuscitated from over eating! Why aren't there lines out the door for this place? I'm totally bugging! This place is a little confused imo. It felt like they are not committed to being a proper tapas restaurant. From the interior/exterior to the rather overboard bar to the poor service. First and foremost, the service is just tired and uninspired. They seem very disinterested in everything. There is no desire to explain the food or other. Nothing to make a person want to experience the tapas!! In addition, we were often left looking to flag someone down for something. As for the food/tapas, there is some good and some bad. The croquetas were excellent, hot, tasty and with a nice spicy sauce to accompany. After that, the rest was mediocre at best! It was the single worst example to pan con tomate we have ever had. It was toasted bread with a small ramekin of tomato. Such a magnificent tapa when down right turned to a big fail. The crudo and accompanying sauce and toppings were bland and pretty much no taste at an outrageous price(which they hide)!!! The lamb chops tasted good but were cold! No one came back for us to express our concern. One final strike, they can make espresso but not a cappuccino??!! Even a basic frother pot would do the trick! We went with the recommendation of getting it well and while it was still good, we feel we would have enjoyed it better on the medium side. Jorge did state getting the chops medium carries that gamey taste, so keep that in mind. The steak, definitely recommend medium rare or medium. We can't even put into words how beyond fantastic this steak was. We went with the recommendation of medium and OMG! The steak was PERFECT in every way! I have found my new home for steak. Dining here was a delightful experience. This place is charmingly cozy and dimly lit. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. Service with a smile and suggestions on the menu was great! I selected this place to celebrate the completion of my book signing event and I am so happy that I did. The food specifically the 20 ounce Ribeye steak was phenomenal. Cooked to perfectiion. The taste of herbs and seasonings made my mouth so happy. The roasted veggies were cooked perfectly tender. It was all so explosive with the flavors. I have frequented several steakhouses (not chain restaurants) the upscale ones and as a foodie from IL to AZ and the Ribeye here was the best I ever had. For Spanish tapas, this wasn't the best I've ever had but it was very good and we definitely enjoyed our meal. We had the catch of the day tartare and it was OK; the fish didn't have a whole lot of flavor but we really liked the sauce, which was like a spicy ceviche marinade flavor. I loved the potato croquettes--these were crispy on the outside and "fluffy" on the inside, and the serving was larger than expected. The lamb chops were good, but we really loved the Argentinian ribeye. The chimichurri was more oily than chunky, which I personally like, and the ribeye was a perfect medium rare; the meat was so tender! We also really liked the dessert, which was like crème brûlée with a hint of lemon.
