The food was amazing. There was a line out the door when we arrived so we waited a bit to order, but it was worth it and I see why there was a line. The chips and salsa were great, I loved the bowl, the cilantro lime sauce was amazing, the tofu was firm and very flavorful. I loved the vegan options on the menu and how clear everything was. WOW. Went to Taco Mama today to learn that a single taco is $7.25, a beer is $6.00 and a margarita is $12.00 - WOW! Food was average. Usually great mac & cheese was cold. I was recently at Taco Mama's for my DIL's bday party. I paid to upgrade my spicy margarita (Jose jalapeño maybe?)to sub in patron for the tequila. I sat down and watched the bartender mix up a spicy margarita with montezuma. I thought, well, that's not mine, she probably had orders before me. Nope, The server brought it over to me and set it down. I didn't say anything bc I didn't want to embarrass my DIL, so I'm outa my hard earned money and have no drink (I'm not drinking that sorry, don't need to get sick because a restaurant can't afford a real tequila for their rail/well/house pour!) Food was fantastic! I got the Hippie Fisherman burrito basket with grilled shrimp and cilantro-lime rice as a side. The burrito was delicious! One of the best I've ever had. Shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the ancho chile slaw and roasted poblano tartar provided amazing flavor. My daughter got the shrimp quesadilla and ate every bite. She said it was the best she'd ever had also. My husband is a bit pickier and got the Big Client burrito but did not realize it had tomatoes. So he didn't not like his as much, plus we are used to our local delicious barbacoa which he claims is better. We received our food quickly, and service was 10/10. Chips and salsa and fast Mexican food served to order. I didn't understand why the server girls were wearing short ill-fitting miniskirts. Surely that was not their original idea. It's not a place that I would bring the family, it's an adult atmosphere with the loud music, and mini skirts that need to be pulled down from time to time. I find it quite unsanitary actually. I don't want my servers pulling down their mini skirts and then touching my plate and glass... One way they could improve is that they ask you what toppings you want. I love that I'm able to order unlimited toppings on my burrito, nachos, etc. I feel like there's no other restaurant in Mobile that allows me to get my nachos exactly the way I want besides this place. So thankful to have a fun fast lunch spot that includes TACOS - YES!! The chips are thin - just like I Love - It fills up fast -food also comes out fast. The Mexican Mac and cheese was a bit dry so I Added some of my Cheese dip And salsa to it. We had a staff lunch so I was able to ask Co-workers about their orders. Yep! Count me all the way IN! I've been dying for someone to come and take command of the fast casual, but still sort of upscale, taco game in Mobile. When I moved to Mobile, I thought Fuzzy's was a shoo-in, but I thought wrong. Having never heard of Taco Mama (ever), I made it my business to be front and center at the grand opening. Mind you, I'm well aware that the grand opening is usually the best/worst time to visit (best for the excitement, worst because they're usually still working out the kinks and service is shoddy due to chaos)-- but I went anyway! Good news, Taco Mama was a well-oiled machine! There was plenty of staff (ample, even) on hand to handle the masses and keep the restaurant clean and appealing to the new patrons that were coming in droves! Taco Mama is a great addition to Midtown (and Mobile as a whole), has booze, the décor is cute and colorful, the counter service is pretty quick (even on day one). The food is great! I love their queso and their thin, crispy chips! I tried The Mayor tacos and enjoyed them. I'll be making the trip to Taco Mama, frequently, and crossing the street immediately after for Cammie's! Taco Mama is a favorite of ours for a fast order Mexican food meal. So refreshing to enjoy lunch in the open air feel of this restaurant with the large garage size bay screen openings so an outside feel but you're seated inside. My husband enjoyed a seafood burrito with a side of Mexican corn and I enjoyed the beef taco basket with a side of queso. Our baskets came with chips and salsa. I inquired about the opening of the Taco Mama restaurant soon to be on the Eastern Shore and was happy to hear they're opening in February 2021 in Daphne. Once again I'm scratching my head wondering if the general population is too easy to please, if I 'm too hard to please (probably), or if my taste buds are just that much different. All the five star reviews and I just don't get it. I ordered a burrito with grilled flounder and it was good, but not spectacular. Just good (definitely improved with a shot of Cholula). Menu says the burrito has Ancho chile slaw - there is cabbage in it, but no chile flavor. The flavor of the "roasted poblano tartar" was also lost. That's too bad as I'm sure it could be really good (it's poblano - gotta be good). The salsa is nice and thick and has lots of cumin (both are good things), but the chips are really thin (not my favorite). The Mexican mac-n-cheese is good - nice and thick like it should be - but I don't know what's Mexican about it. No chiles, no spice, just mac and cheese. Best thing about the menu is the availability of grilled fish and shrimp. Counter service is good and quick. My order was out within a few minutes, but there was no crowd, either. Three stars - not my favorite place, but if I'm with others who want to go, I'll tag along. read more
