Every day is a great day for Tacos!! This is my go to Tacos spot in. Midtown, well after 4pm and before 5:30pm. Lunch time is crazy crowded and so is the weekend. It's great addition to Midtown. I've been here a couple of times and it's been consistently good. The customer service is great and the decor is super cute. I like that the vibe is different from taco places in the city. I usually get the Mayor and the Redneck. Both are tasty. The chips are crispy and the salsa and guacamole are fresh. There is a lot on the menu to choose and there something for everyone. read more

The food is great. I always get the BYO Burrito, however I'm not a big fan of the street corn. It's normally packed at lunch so I recommend ordering ahead if you're on your lunch break. I ordered online and my order was ready when I got there. The customer service is always great. read more

Been here a few times and it's always bustling! Headed over lunch during the torrential rains of then Tropical Storm Barry and there was still a line! They're doing something right at Taco Mama. We ordered the Cheesy Beef Tacos, a Chicken Burrito Bowl, a BYO Burrito and a kid's mac and cheese. Food came out quickly and everyone was happy. My wife loves this place; it's lively, the food is tasty, the service is good and the kids like it. She was very happy with her chicken bowl, almost more than she can eat. The tacos were good, but for the price, I was hoping they'd be a little bigger. The kids both liked what they ordered and proceeded to destroy their meals as well. I am so happy I finally made it over here to see what all the hype was about. Unlimited toppings? Um, yes please! That should be how every taco place is. I met a friend at the hot and new Taco Mama for lunch the other day. We got there around 11 and they weren't busy yet. When we left at 12, the line was out the door, and with good reason. The place is really great! This is the kind of place where you order at the counter and pay, then fill your own drink and find a seat. They bring the food out when it's ready and it didn't take long at all. There's a waitress that comes by to check on things, offers to refill your drinks, etc. I ordered the steak taco and built one with shrimp, avocado, pico and cilantro. I had the guacamole as a side. My friend ordered the Alabama Redneck taco and the mayor taco with mac and cheese as her side. We both thought our tacos were delicious! The tacos are about $7-$10 for two, but I love that they don't charge extra for the toppings when you build your own taco. That price also includes a side. Our total tab was about $25 before tip. We definitely felt like we got our money's worth! The restaurant has a large patio and garage doors they can raise so you can sit inside and still feel like you're dining outside. If you haven't been, I highly recommend bookmarking it as a place to check out. We sure enjoyed it! read more

HOLY CRAP!!!! Why have I never eaten here before!?!?!? This was pretty amazing. A very different take on the traditional Mexican cuisine. The facility itself is super fun. I love the open doors and open air feel. The prices are not too terribly bad. I just feed 5 starving adults for about $65. They can move a line of 20 in mere minutes. Well done indeed! Now then, the food, and I mean everything my party of 3 ordered, was highly lacking in flavor. I don't us this word often but here it is: Bland. Sorry Taco Mama! The lightly cooked, non-greasy tortilla chips and salsa were super yummy. Our group in total order the Alabama Redneck, Classic Beef, 2 build your own grilled shrimp tacos, and a burrito bowl. I guess I had too high of an expectation for this place. I had heard rave reviews, but thought it fell a bit short. The young lady who took our order was very enthusiastic in a great way. The garage style ambiance is fun. I ordered a steak burrito with cilantro lime rice and beans. My problem with it was that I almost had no steak and it was way bean-heavy, and almost no steak. The two tacos my husband ordered were okay-tasty-but nothing special. As each came with a side I chose the Mexican Mac and cheese. I thought it was just okay. Maybe we hit them on an off day, but I wasn't blown away, and I felt that I paid too much for what I got. read more

I've live in Mexico and ate at various Mexican restaurants all over the US and this is by far the worst. Small portions, big price. Salsa was the only food item that was good, and only a tiny condiment containers' worth. Guacamole was like "paste", not creamy or lumpy like traditional. Whoever made this batch used ENTIRELY too much Cumin, that's all I tasted. Took it home and adding sour cream and more avocado in hopes to offset the cumin. For the money, I would rather sit in a quieter place where the food comes out on plates and not tin foil and plastic baskets. Great place for teenagers though. read more

Hubby and I were out at lunch time so we decided to try out one of Mobile's newest eateries! Even though it was a Monday the place was packed. We were greeted as we entered the hip restaurant and I guess it was obvious that we were first timers! The staff went on to introduce us to the menu and made some awesome recommendations. I opted for "The Judge" burrito basket and let me tell you it was a massive amount of food for lunch, or any time for that matter! I enjoyed the Guacamole as my side and the chips were light and airy. They food was delicious. Hubby went old school taco ordering the Classico Beef and he really enjoyed it. We decided to sit at the bar since tables inside were a rarity. Personally we love sitting near the staff and getting to know them. We met Shelby who is in charge of catering! She was a delight to talk with. The staff was happy and handled the crowd very well. We really enjoyed our first visit and will go back again soon. This was a delightful find for us. The tacos were big and my hubby loved his shrimp bowl. The queso was not very spicy, but it had good flavor. We liked the open seating with the doors open. The tables were spaced a good distance apart. The staff were all very nice and helpful and wore masks. Really enjoyed this place. Tacos on corn or flour tortillas with a huge amount of chips on the side. The meat (steak and pulled pork) was high quality and the salsa was fresh. I've heard many good reviews about this restaurant so it was nice to have a great experience myself. I like the patience of the staff in explaining the menu and taking the order of newcomers. We felt very welcome. I like the indoor and outdoor seating and the music was varied and loud enough to enjoy but not too loud to drown out conversation. We brought our niece and she really enjoyed the music so this place is definitely kid friendly. The kids menu has at least 5 options. They have a wide selection of margaritas. We had the pomegranate, but look forward to trying the blood orange next time. The barbacoa quesadilla was a nice size and the free toppings are great. The salsa was very flavorful. Tables around us were bussed quickly and the outside seating was very nice. I look forward to returning. read more

I'm a downtown, local, blah blah blah kind of consumer and had this same experience here the other time I had been at Taco Mama-I didn't realize it wasn't just a one off. Fresh fresh food, super competent employees, clean and friendly. The Food was fresh and delicious and flavorful, the hot salsa wasn't punishing but definitely not mild. Great Burrito Baskets, my husband & I both had The Judge. He had The Street Corn side, loved it. I had the Chilli (cole) Slaw, I am not a fan. The salsa that came with chips was pretty mild, had too much citrus, so I just opted for the hot sauce that was available table side. I would say the food is more Tex Mex or Colorado Style Mexican Food. It is a very popular place, always see tons of customers seated outside under the umbrella tables when we visit Publix, also in the same shopping center. It has a pretty cool vibe, it is in Mid Town, sandwiched between Lost Pizza & Rock N Roll Sushi, looks like a real chill fun spot. We dined in the afternoon about 3 PM-ish, lots of school age teenagers eating, seems family friendly. The Margarita Menu looks very appealing so I will be back another time to sample. Great selection of beer, also had Dos Equiis & Pacifica on draft, I just went with a soda this time. They serve Coke Products. Great spot on Florida & Old Shell Road, good place to do a pub crawl in the evening, a good starting point. read more

This is my absolute favorite mexican restaurant in Mobile. The service, environment, and tacos are unmatched! My all time favorite thing to order is the Mayor hard shell grilled shrimp tacos with a side of queso. The slaw of these tacos is to die for! Their chips are always warm and crispy. I have also tried their guacamole and it is impeccable. I am gluten free, so I am always very excited to be able to eat a delicious hard shell taco. I make an appearance at this fine eatery at least once a week. Customers have the choice of sitting outside or inside. On days with beautiful weather, the garage doors are opened and the customers eating inside experience a cool breeze. They have also beautifully adjusted to the COVID-19 protocol.
