Located in the strip mall behind the Portillos and next to the Caputos, I've decided this is my new go to spot for Mexican Food in our area. It's counter service, the people here are super friendly and their food is full of deliciousness. They do give you chips and salsa when you sit down and there's a sauce bar with heat preferences ranging from mild to a very spicy habanero, and all of them have great flavor. Even the habanero, which delivers a good kick, adds a great taste and spice to your meal. The drinks, even the horchata, are refillable which my husband was very pleased with. He also is kind of fussy when it comes to his burrito order but they understood what he wanted with no issue and he declared it the best he's had in awhile. I orderd the Fries ala Mexicana which was huge and had a great queso sauce and tons of guacamole as well as pico, jalapenos and sour cream. Also, the fries were Waffle fries which was great because they gave a great surface area for all the goodness to be piled onto. My parents shared a couple of tacos and they enjoyed all of them but agreed their favorite was the Chingon. Also they do offer them in corn or flour based on your preference which I thought was nice. I'm not sure if it was because they opened recently or because it was Taco Tuesday but they did have a special that night where if you bought two tacos you got one free! My first time trying this place! The presentation for everything is absolutely gorgeous! It makes you want to eat the food even more! The vegetarian nachos were really good. I eat a lot of nachos and this one was definitely unique because of that incredibly addicting cheese sauce they put on it. Only sad thing was that the portion of the nachos was kind of small. More like an appetizer portion than a meal. Horchata was refreshing. The chips were seasoned with some spices. The salsa wasn't really anything special to me. Not a fan of it personally. Just had lunch at the Schaumburg location and it might be some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had.The burrito was absolutely disgusting.I wouldn't feed it to my dog and to top it off it's expensive. read more

Was pretty disappointed overall. Grub Hub might be part to blame since the enchiladas were not warm at all. The tacos because of having cold items on (avocado and such) you are ready for them not to be warm. Tacos were way better than the enchiladas, have to say I did not enjoy them but maybe I should have gotten the chicken instead. I most likely will give the restaurant a try again but dine in only. I based on where to order according to what's close and great reviews. I would say stay away from the beef enchiladas for sure and although tacos were expensive they were at least pretty good. Love the decor and service was good. But food was unflavorful and cooked incorrectly. I requested the fajita steak to be cooked medium rare, instead it was overcooked and tasted dry and tough! Even after second try steak was still not cooked correctly. This was our first time eating here because of highly rated reviews. Overall my family and i were disappointed with the meal. Great food but HORRIBLE service. They seemingly need at least two more employees working here. The front counter was slammed with people needing to have their order taken, individuals looking to get a free refill on chips, people looking to pick-up their online orders, and UberEats drivers looking to pick-up their deliveries. The two employees working the front counter were very obviously failing to keep up with service demands. My pick-up order was not ready when arrived, even though I was 5+ minutes past my scheduled pick-up time. What was more frustrating was that some of my order was ready, but not all of it, allowing for most of my order to get cold while sitting to the side. The food at Taco Maya is good but simply not worth the terrible service. I'll be back when they get more employees. read more

My cousin and I met up here for a quick dinner. She had mentioned how the tacos are great here. Of course I had to check it out. For an late afternoon it wasn't busy. The way things work here is you go up to the counter order your food, drink and they give you a number. The food is then brought to your table. The special of the day was buy 2 tacos get one free. I ordered 2 chicken tacos, one steak . You have your choice of flour or corn tortillas. Cilantro and onion on my tacos of course !!!! OH YEA if you are a salsa fanatic like me they do have a little area with a variety of different salsas for your tacos. The tacos were great and had an authentic taste to them. I would definitely come back and eat here. I noticed that between 5-7 it got super busy. The restaurant got pretty full quick. I recommend this taco joint to all the taco fanatics. read more

We enjoyed a get together of a group of high schoolers and families in the spacious Maya Room and the service and food were top notch! Great vegetarian and vegan options, and awesome Indian/Mexican fusion flavors. Have been many times and everything I've ever tried is scrumptious! As I'm typing this, I am in a food coma from ordering lunch from here off of Uber Eats. This place was recommended to me by many people in the area, so I took advantage of the Uber eats option! I was shocked at how fast the food was made and already on my way to me. I think that from the time I pressed order to it being at my door, 15 minutes away from the restaurant, was 30 minutes total. In under an hour I ordered, got my food, ate it, and now here I am writing this review. Here's what I got: - Chips & Salsa: The salsa was warm when it arrived, and it was really delicious. The chips are good too with a little added seasoning on them. - Half order of Guac: very good guacamole, not much else to it. - Carnitas Taco, "mexican style": Amazing flavor from every single portion, no complaints. - Grilled steak taco, medium rare: I wouldn't necessarily say the meat was medium rare, but I trust however they are cooking it, and it was delicious as well. - Side of rice: For like $1.50 you can get a side of rice and the portion was very generous. Really satisfying and good value. - I personally enjoyed the verde salsa rather than the roja salsa. The roja is more spicy, while the verde has an overall great flavor and not over spicy. All in all, I would totally go there and eat if I ever make my way to it. But now that I know that it's already good, I'm much more likely to stop in or recommend this place. I give it 4 and not 5, because while everything was very good, my socks weren't blown off, they were comfortable and satisfied on my feet. You get what I mean. read more

Was in the area for work last week and took note of the FIVE STAR RATING for Taco Maya - could over 50 people really rate this place an average of five stars? This, my friends, is a Yelp rarity. A colleague and I decide to give it a try to confirm/deny the hype. The restaurant appears to be new and is beautiful, trendy, and well lit. I especially appreciated the menu offerings as they are aplenty. We go with several different tacos (ground beef, grilled chicken, steak, etc.) and found all to be solid. I have had slightly more tender meats on a taco, but the flavors were all spot on. Free chips and salsa were being offered this particular evening and a couple of the versions were waayyy up there with some of the best I have had. A couple of these were much hotter than a typical salsa (you have been warned). The service was a 10/10. This is a order at the counter kind of place with supposedly no wait staff. The friendly girls who were working the counter must have checked on us three or four times. 4.5 stars for a great dining space, on point flavors, great service, and numerous offerings. Ordered online for takeout. Two burritos, two tacos, and a torta overall it was UNDERWHELMING. The food was over salted and yet no flavor. Ordered horchata waters which in contrasts were sweet and filled with lots of flavor, but did have to drive back to get the drinks since they forgot to give me them during pickup. Soo my first time here and was super pleased. I ordered the tacos plate with two cajun tacos and one ground beef taco. The cajun tacos were amazing minus the nasty cilantro the ground beef was not sooo tasty. Their rice was super plain and bland. We had a nacho Supreme which was amazing. Their salsas were all bomb.
