Taco Maya has become my GO TO taqueria since I discovered them.Definitely have been enjoying their tacos.The downside is that they are located right next door to the gym I go to so now I have to jackup my workouts.lol.They have a great selection of delicious tacos.Im a sucker for their shrimp tacos as well as the Mahi Mahi.I was VERY HAPPY when I discovered that they serve micheladas and use Big Mich michelada mix.Big Mich was the star of last years first ever MICHELADA FESTIVAL in Pilsen.They have been a huge hit in Chicago as well as the suburbs.Tuesdays are my favorite day to come to Taco Maya.Not only because its my day off but also because its TACO TUESDAY and I can get a FREE TACO with the purchase of two at regular price.And Tuesdays is also the day they have their special on micheladas!!!! $5 Micheladas on Tuedays!!!! The food was beyond amazing! There's soooo many options it took me almost 10 minutes to figure out what I wanted. The guac is soooo good! Great service. Meh! I wasn't overly impressed or underwhelmed with this place. It was ok. My biggest dissatisfaction was with the meat. I ordered a steak taco salad and a grilled chicken taco. The steak was excessively chewy, dry, and flavorless. Now in the salad with all the garnishments, it wasn't so bad, but the salad could've been next level had the meat been prepared better. The chicken was also very dry, over cooked, and flavorless. I could've done without. I don't feel like you're missing out on anything here, but I wouldn't go as far as saying don't eat here. Aside from deep dish pizza, Chicago is well known for the fact that the tacos here are super good!! I came with the intent of trying some really good Mexican food considering that I left my hometown when I was only 5 years old and don't really know much around here. From the cashier greeting us, to the music, to the art work on the walls, and especially the food, everything was great!! I ordered the supreme nachos with ground beef, two grilled chicken tacos on corn tortillas, both American and Mexican styles, and an elote in a cup. My mother ordered two tacos al pastor, also on a corn tortilla, a Horchata and my cousin ordered the steak fajitas. While waiting for the food, they gave us complimentary chips and salsa which was fire (literally) the sauce was hot, just the way I like it. Once the food arrived, I dove right into my plate, and so did everyone else! Every single bite was amazing, I was dancing in my chair of happiness from eating such great food! The only thing I can comment about was the fact that the elote was wayyy too cheesy so I didn't really finish it all, but it was still delicious! Wonderful new business at south loop. Clean, attentive staff, free horchata refill. It's definitely a must visit. Tacos are about $2.5 to 3, really cheap for downtown Chicago. Out of the 3 tacos I had, Al Pasto was fantastic. Carnitas and grill chicken were a bit dry; it seems they used a leaner cut of meat, which is the reason of the dryness. This place is amazing. We did delivery which came lightning fast. Every bite was delicious. Both our steak fajitas and a burrito were beautiful to the eye and tasted amazing. Not impressed. I recently tried Tao Madre and was overall disappointed with not only the food quality but also the value. I ordered 2 barbacoa tacos, beans and rice and queso and the bill was around $25. The barbacoa tacos had ok meat and the tortillas were bland. The queso blanco was the worst I have had in recent memory. it was like a cheese-ish flavored liquid. The chips that came with it tasted like burnt oil - I literally couldn't eat them they tasted so bad. The restaurant was clean and staff was welcoming. They do also have a salsa bar that had a nice variety and was well maintained. I might consider going again and trying something else if I was with someone that wanted to try it but not a good first impression read more

I came here for an event in celebration of Cinco De Mayo and was impressed by many things. 1. The staff was incredibly accommodating and gave us great service. 2. The food was out of this world!! I loved their vegetarian tacos specifically (I'm not even a vegetarian) and thought that their house margaritas and frozen drinks were extremely delicious and paired well with the Fino Tequila. 3. Sometimes it's better not to get your hopes up. Why, you ask? Because when a bunch of vegetarians rave about a place it does NOT always mean that it is good (ahem...Chicago Diner..*cough...). Anyway, I'm going to take a guess and say that the tacos may be a better format for the paneer. Because putting it in burrito form was less than successful. Actually it was kind of a mess. This was a very nice Mexican restaurant and It seemed to be operated by Indians - they had a paneer taco which was so very tasty. The taco was a roti which made it so greet and the mint chutney complemented it so well. The veggie taco and enchiladas were also very delicious.
