I ordered three tacos: al pastor, grilled fish, and carne asada. This was the real deal. No sour cream. No piles of shredded cheese. Just onions, cilantro, and a little squeeze of lime if you want it. The al pastor was the star of the show--perfectly seasoned, juicy, and so flavorful it honestly didn't even need the lime. The grilled fish taco had a great sauce that added flavor without overpowering the fish. I really love this place! Fun vibes, festive decor, fresh food, and fast and friendly service. This place is always lively and I see why. I've been here a few times and it's delicious. The people are friendly and the food is excellent. So far I've tried their bowls and their tacos. I had a Pronto box with two tacos, with refried beans and rice. So good! The meats are very tender and flavorful. I also love their steak bowl. I love tacos and these really live up to the hype. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken quesadillas too. Look I live in Chicago Illinois, having tacos, prepared by and served from people from ts place of its origin is not unusual. Thus when I find a joint that is clearly geared to western audiences And still find a taco satisfying that's always a pleasant surprise. Tasty authentic Mexican food! This location is super cute and has many seating options. The staff is super friendly, has amazing recommendations, and served us very quickly. Tried the ancho-chicken bowl, it was very savory and everything melded together. Also tried the mini burrito platter with 2 chicken and 2 steak! Printer's Row isn't just about print shops and literature. It's got some spice! It's close to Grant Park, and has a cozy bookstore across the street to boot! After the annual Printer's Row Lit Fest, I was ready to eat a horse! But, I ended up at this kitschy joint. The service was friendly. This was our first time here, and we ended up coming two days in a row! We came during happy hour and started with the chips and queso! I really likes their chips, they're thick and crunchy. I ordered the Barbacoa and fish. The barbacoa was really good! I didn't care for the fish as much. We also had the horchata which was good! He got 2 chicken and 2 steak and enjoyed them. Visited Flaco's Tacos for lunch with two friends. The cashier greeted us and provided menus. There also is a self service kiosk. I opted for the kiosk since it included pictures. It was very simple to order food from the kiosk. I opted to try two different types of tacos, Al Pastor and Street Corn Chicken. Prices are very reasonable. My order was brought to my table within minutes of ordering. Both tacos were delicious. I preferred the Al Pastor. One of my friends ordered a basket of chips for our table. The chips were crisp and delicious. I definitely enjoyed my visit to Flaco's Tacos and will visit again if I am in the area. I recommend visiting the restaurant. read more

I'm not sure why it took me this long to review flacos tacos. Wes been a few times and tonight we ordered for pick up and enjoyed at home. I ordered the steak taco and the Al pastor taco, my husband ordered the steak burrito, and I ordered my toddler the kids meal (chicken taco with rice and beans) and OBVIOUSLY we ordered the hibiscus margaritas to go too. The two tacos was enough to make me really full and my husband said the burrito was enough! He ordered a taco on the side and saved it for tomorrow. I super love their to go margaritas and it's probably the # 1 reason we order from here. However, with that said, their tacos are fantastic as well! I want to start off my saying that their house made chips, are absolutely delicious. They're on the greasy side but wow they're amazing. The Pumpkin Horchata is super sweet and delicious. Along with their regular Horchata. The interior is beautiful, and cozy. I gave an extra star, for the free Horchata refill. However, the steak tacos were dry. I felt like I needed to drink every time I was chewing, due to dryness from the tortillas, and the steak. I'm going to try this place at another time, but I wouldn't come here on my own. So sad to write this because when I lived here, I loved Flacos tacos. Because I had fond memories, we decided to stop while visiting the city. I wish we went elsewhere. There is so much amazing food , especially Mexica food, that I would now tell people to not go to Flacos. To start, we order on the kiosk and sat outside. All the tables were dirty and not wiped down. I sent my boyfriend in to get us water. He went inside and asked the person behind the counter where the water cups are / could he have one. He told him they were by the door and "can't you see that? They're over there so people don't bother us" The service was just rude. The food runner did not want to help us and acted annoyed when we asked for their sauces. She just pointed at the empty table next to us, signaling we just take those. No words. For the food, it was okay. The chips were very cold and stale. Definitely made in the morning or day before. The tacos were good. No complains. The mini burritos were delicious, but the rice and beans that came with them were some of the flavorless sides I've ever had. Like not even salt on them. Flaco Taco- which Queso God hurt you bro? If you even think to serve that water, oil, and flour mixture and call it queso??! I had a day and just wanted to end it with some chips and queso on the beach. I ordered from here and what a flop. The chips were good- the ONLY reason I gave 2 stars. The queso was the cheapest can (probably free government "cheese sauce") mixed with chopped jalapeños- nice of you to add but did not help. I rather pay a couple dollars extra and have a quality product. I never had any other food in your restaurant, this review is for chips and queso only. The red and green salsa was meh as well. Will never come back but highly recommend to pick a higher quality ingredients. Trust me, there's better cheap queso out there which you make money on. Service: This location is pretty much self serve. Grab a menu, seat yourself, and then go to the counter and place your order. Utensils, napkins, salsa, and water is on a counter for self service. Clean up your table, and throw your own garbage away. Ambience: Medium size eating area inside, and a few tables to eat at outside. Decoré is average for a taco spot. Space was clean when I was there. Food: The cowboy burrito that I had was an average size burrito. The flavors of the grilled onions, corn, guacamole, cheese, rice, beans, and steak all came together to make a very flavorful burrito. I was disappointed with the lack of steak inside the burrito for the price that I paid. I may order it again with extra meat. Overall, it was a good burrito for $12. I was happy with the Al pastor taco that I ordered as well. The pastor had a good texture and quality too it. It was moist and lean, no chewy fatty chunks of pork like I have been given at other taco spots in the city. The pineapples were cut small enough to compliment the flavor of the pastor but not so much that it over powered the taco. The sauce that they use with the pastor is pretty good as well. Lastly, I was content with the amount of meat that they used in the taco. There was about 2-3x as much meat on my taco than there was in my burrito. If I were to come to this restaurant again, then I think I'd get tacos rather than the burrito due to the amount of meat, or lack there of in the burrito. This spot isn't bad, but it doesn't really stand out from its competitors across the city. It's a nice option if you're looking for tacos in the area, but I couldn't see anybody driving to the south loop to specifically eat here, especially with Pilsen and little village being within the area. read more
