The beef was a little chewy, like it was pre cooked and reheated. The chicken was average also. The rice was lukewarm and bland, but the beans were decent. Finally found a Mexican place where we loved the tacos!! I ordered Asada tacos, al pastor tacos and bean, cheese and rice burrito. The food we ordered was delicious, my husband and dad also loved their habanero sauce on their tacos. I noticed they have carne Asada fries which I will definitely try next time, they looked delicious. This place only accepts cash. You can definitely order your food and eat at the restaurant. I liked the fact the place was clean. Great customer service. Just had the al pastor and the tripas tacos and I must say they were very good.the only downside is they're not served too well.they were a bit skimpy with their meat.these were really small tacos. wife had the burrito and again it was small compare to other burritos I've had in the past. Basically I have never ever been to any Mexican restaurant that charges for hot sauce. Lol. I ordered asada fries for 9.50 and a chicken quesadilla for 9.50 with Doordash and then I get an email two hours later saying that the restaurant up charged me. They charged me two dollars more on each item because I wrote in the comment box "please put extra hot sauce " had I been aware that they are going to charge .50 since for a 1 oz size hot sauce I would have never ordered. The al pastor here is one of he best in Los Angeles not just Santa Clarita, the lengths ( beef tongue is also off the hook) the food is not greasy and full of flavor. The lady working the register must hate her job and sure as hell acts like it, seems like shes always more worried about her fake acrylic nails then us paying customer. Don't bother asking for lemons and pickled veggies she might give you a look of loath that pierces the soul. The food is very small portions for the hefty price tag. There a far better places in Newhall to eat Mexican food (like Taco Llama a few blocks down, they are always on point!) If you call ahead to order for pick up it better be when they are ready, doesnt matter if they open at 10am, she will tell you it'll be another half and hour at least if they are not up to game, must be those late night margaritas. The taquero posted on the street has FIRE tacos, this place seems to serve leftovers reheated. My boyfriend and I love Mexican food, and we stay up a little late doing things on Tuesdays, so we were looking for a place that was open late. This place is delicious. I've always contemplated stopping by and finally decided to. Food is done fast.. they always give you a fried tortilla sort of like a tostada with beans with your tacos. Only thing I would have to give a thumbs down, would be the young cashier in the front.. she is there early in the day. I ordered my tacos al pastor, that appears to be grilling on the spit. What comes out is one of two things. The knife to cut the meat of the spit, then the spatula to throw it on the grill to actually cook it. Or a precut pot of meat that gets tossed onto the grill. This Taco Madre is better than it's partner over in Canyon Country. I have been here multiple times for the lunch buffet. For $6.99, you can eat all you want and they also throw in a drink. Their best buffet is on Fridays. It is a seafood buffet which features, buttery garlic shrimp, a spicy shrimp, a variety of pork cooked in different sauces. a seafood soup, vegetable soup, rice, beans, fresh hand made tortillas, and of course the salsa bar. Then in the evenings they close down the kitchen and only serve tacos. They have the same variety as the other taco shops around: carne asada, al pastor, tripas, lengua, buche, and chorizo. All the tortillas are grilled with lard and then filled with a generous portion of your selected meat. It is still no las delicias, but I can say that I will be a returning customer. read more

After reading the reviews I had pretty high expectaions for Taco Padre, unfortunately both my trips left me feeling unsatisfied. Both times the carne asada was completely void of any flavor and looked and tasted like it was steamed and not cooked on a grill. The carnitas had a very weird texture and wasn't shredded but in the shape of a torn up cube, it was very weird. The beans in the pupusa looked and tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp since the night before and had a crusty hard texture which was very disappointing. They also forgot to put in one of my girlfriends tacos, not a good first impression. The Cubana torta I tried was pretty good, but that was about it, I probably won't be back with the awesome Tortas Los Originales right down the street from them. read more

I'm so bummed about this place. So many good reviews here, but they don't match up w/the food i was served. I ordered two tacos al pastor and two carnitas. I waited about 10 minutes for the lady to make my food. She walked over to the cooler and took a handful of each of the meats and placed them on the cook top. I found that to be weird. I noticed that they served these tacos naked, so i filled up some cups w/cilantro, onions and hot sauce. Took my food to the park and enjoy the nice day. First, the al pastor had egg in it. I'm sure that's 'cuz i saw her making eggs for a burrito just before my order and she failed to clean the grill properly. That's not cool. The flavor of the meat wasn't one of the better pastor's i've had and they don't cut it off a spit like they show on the window outside the restaurant. It was over cooked and dry, too. Onto the carnitas. Now, i'm not one to complain about some piggy good fatty pieces as they add a lot of flavor to the food, but i got two tacos that were easily 60% fat. Not to mention the fact that no salt or other spices were used to flavor it besides the existing grease on the grill. Very disappointed in this as well. The chili sauces were nice and spicy w/really good flavor. I just don't know why that doesn't translate to good flavor in their meat. I don't know if i'd ever give them another shot. As a socal native and a gringo, I may not be what you think of as a Mexican food critic, oh but I do have 2 go-to dishes that I crave and to me are the two dishes that set apart any Mexican restaurant from all the others: Mole and Al Pastor. Well, no Mole here (damn), but the Al Pastor is the best - always tender, flavorful and never ever chewy or fatty. I have had the Al Pastor in tacos, dry burritos, and wet burritos, but my favorite is the wet burrito with the green sauce and avocado- I can't remember the exact name, but it is amazing! And the extra garnish of pineapple is a nice touch. Great food doesn't discriminate and neither does Taco Padre because they make this tall gringo feel welcome every time I visit.
