Pineapple lemonade 10/10
Lori C.

My husband and I finally made it to try Taco Roos in Thomasville. One thing that kept us from going sooner what the incorrect hours listed on Yelp saying they were closed on Sundays. Turns out they are open every day. I submitted that edit so hopefully that will be corrected soon. Taco Roos has no dining room so be prepared to take your order home or do what we did and eat in your car. We wanted to try so many things. We ended up getting a beef taco, grilled chicken taco, bean and cheese burrito, chicken quesadillas and a Mexibowl. We rounded it out with a fresh pineapple lemonade. Both my husband and I thought the grilled chicken taco and the fried fish taco were the stars of the show. We loved the juicy flavorful chicken so much. We added a bit of their salsa verde and WOW was it spicy! I needed a minute to recover from it. Luckily we had our pineapple lemonade to help with that which I highly recommend. They are making all the lemonades fresh so definitely don't skip this when you visit. The fish taco was crispy and came with slaw, a slice of lime diced onions and some tartar sauce all on the side. The fried fish pieces could have been a bit bigger IMO but it was still tasty. The burrito was a sad little open ended thing that looked so flat like someone sat on it. It was just OK but you can skip this one and you won't be missing anything. The chicken quesadilla was bigger than I thought it was going to be. They pretty much use one size tortilla for all their food items. It looks like it's a soft taco/fajita size. The quesadilla is two of those with the chicken and cheese sandwiched between them. It comes uncut but we managed to eat it without too much mess. Lastly the Mexibowl. It was super filling and gave us a chance to try the Mexican rice they make fresh. It was super filling and I think that is really the best value. I'd like some chips with it next time to add a little texture. Don't forget to ask for the salsa you want. They won't put it in unless you ask. We went through the drive through twice in one night. The first time, we got a worker named Savannah. She wasn't very friendly at all. She was short with us and even when we tried to ask her a question she shut the window on us mid sentence. She also forgot to give us our drink we ordered so we had to go back through to get it. The second trip though(technically 3rd) we got Ellie. She was a bright ray of sunshine! In a world full of Savannah's be an Ellie.

Delish! Stopped in for a "quick snack" and the menu was too enticing. I have been looking forward to trying out this place for months and finally had the perfect opportunity. From joining the line (super crowded!) to food in hand, it only took about 15 minutes. For a new(er) place at 1 pm on a Sunday, this wasn't bad at all! For my order, I got a chicken quesadilla, cherry lemonade, and queso fries. The chicken quesadilla was nice and cheesy with a decent amount of chicken in it as well! The lemonade tasted more cran-grape than cherry but delicious nonetheless. I was a little bit confused when my fries came deconstructed, but then was quickly appeased when I realized I could dip them without losing half the cheese to the box! All in all, definitely a 10/10 experience and I'd like to return!

Not bad. Of course we can't help but compare the food and experience to Taco Bell, which would also typically earn three stars. The fried fish taco was the star, but a finer shredding of the cabbage and a little spicy ranch style of special sauce would be a nice touch. We will certainly give them another try.

La Carreta is a long term, tried and true option in Thomasville. I've been enjoying food here well…read moreover 20 years, and it's consistently good. With fresh choices, a large menu, generous portions, and reasonable pricing, you can't go wrong here. If you're dining in, the chips are fresh and the salsa tasty with just the right amount of spice. The cheese dip is always a winner. The guacamole is not my favorite in terms of consistency (too smooth) but it usually tastes good too. Today's visit was takeout. We got a Grande Burrito and a Burrito Paisa. They were both massive and lasted multiple meals over the week. I'm a huge fan of the Burrito Paisa with the spicy sauce, and it'll make you sweat! I will say it's annoying they add a forced gratuity for takeout orders (they've always charged a container fee, but now add the gratuity.) This isn't uncommon these days, but I still dislike it. I'd love to see the addition of online ordering to keep up with the era. But all told, a great consistent choice that never disappoints me.

Our waitress was patient and polite, explaining the dishes and answering questions with a smile. The decor was very festive. We also got an appetizer of corn ribs because... that stuff is delicious. I appreciate the tea being brought in GIANT glasses, as I was never wanting for a refill. I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. In the end, it wasn't enough to deduct a star as we had an excellent overall experience. Thanks amigos!

Once the food was ready the cashier charged me,once I got home my wife told me she paid online...we called the restaurant. The girl was rude from the get go, called my wife a liar, cussed her in both English and Spanish. I went back to the restaurant with a screenshot of the order and receipt of online payment. The same girl insisted I was wrong and that we couldn't have ordered on line. Finally a lady came from the kitchen and told her to give me a refund. The girl tried to give me back $22 dollars of our $28 order...the lady from the kitchen made her give me the correct amount. The service (from the cashier) was the worst I've ever received from anyone in any type of customer service role. Plus the food was bland. If a negative number review was possible, I would be leaving one.

Finally got to try their food again for the second time as a dine in customer yesterday. The first time was take out and I normally don't order take out for Mexican because it gets soggy but that wasn't the case here. That's why I knew I needed to go back in person, plus the food was just amazing! I ordered the steak sopes, rice and beans, churros and jamaica. The steak was so tender and flavorful, just how I remembered. Also their salsa verde is delicious! The red salsa (in the bottle) is super super hot so you've been warned! Additionally, the salsa that is served with chips is made fresh and taste just right for the average person. The churros were a win for me and I ordered 3! Hot and fresh! Best churros I've ever had! Also their tortillas are made fresh to order. Wowowow! They have a variety of authentic dishes and such friendly staff. Gisseth was our server and I hope to see her again. I can't wait to visit more often and try all they have to offer!

However, my granddaughter chose this place for her birthday dinner with family. The interior does not have the same authentic Mexican feel to it as other local Mexican restaurants do, but it is spacious and open, which I appreciated. Our server was Jesse. She was wonderful! We weren't a huge party but definitely had some needs and she was on top of it all. She made sure our drinks never got empty, checked in on us without intruding on our festivities, and even found a lighter for us to use to light the birthday candles. The food was delicious! I tried their quesabirria's and it was PERFECTO!!! My daughter tried something out of the ordinary and loved it! (CAMARONES PARAISO) Infaft, everybody loved their food! As with most Mexican restaurants, they did bring the sombrero and maracas, along with a dessert, for the birthday girl. Very happy with this experience. I plan to come back and get more queso birria!

This past weekend after watching a long 2 day wrestling tournament at North Davidson High School,…read moremy parents and I decided to go check out this near by taco place that we kept hearing about all weekend long. As soon as we entered the restaurant you felt the good vibes with the Spanish music being played in the background. We were greeted with a smile and taken right to a table. The restaurant had a couple of tables, but it seems like a lot of people do take out as well. As I looked at the menu there were a lot of different options apart from the tacos. There were tortas, chimichangas, etc. When it came time to order the food I decided to go with the tacos. I ordered 1 taco de asada, 1 taco al pastor, and 1 taco de pollo asado. I also got a agua de jamaica (Hibiscus tea) it was also very good and refreshing. While my family and I waited for our food our server brought us chips and salsa which did not disappoint. Once my food came out I was super excited to try it out. The presentation was amazing. The tortillas were homemade, the taco was loaded with onions and cilantro, they give you a good amount of limes, some radishes on the side, and bring out 2 different salsas for you to add to your taco if you would like too. Each taco was delicious and very flavorful. I would say that my favorite one had to be the taco al pastor. The seasoning was just right and it even had pineapple in there. If you are in the area I would definitely give this a try, the food and service are both so amazing. You wont be disappointed!

Very very clean, open concept kitchen; once again, extremely clean bathroom as well, soda machine is clean, floors spotless, big brownie points! Moreover the food: pleaseeee try the shrimp cocktail(extremely fresh tasting and not spicy yet flavorful, LOTS OF SHRIMP INSIDE!), birria tamales( speaks for itself ‍‍‍very flavorful the maíz also had flavor and the consomé is not fatty but well seasoned, simply delicious). The birria ramen, huge chunks of barbacoa inside and served with a quesadilla, come on! Also had the empanadas de campechanas(steak with chorizo and cheese) and also an order of pulled chicken and cheese empanadas (it taste like you at you're at home eating Ma's food!!!!), pastor taco was excellent, made with actual pineapple and seasoned well but not too salty or sweet; perfect! The street corn was nice and HOT in temperature and well seasoned but not spicy and could taste the squeezed lime with the tajin cheese and mayo; yum!!!! Carnitas taco was excellent, very tender!!! Oh, hand made corn tortillas.... Come on!!! This is the place to be, I'm telling y'all‍. We got caramel churros to go, they come with some ice cream and whipped with chocolate sauce, so banger!!! Also recommend the fresh made cheese dip with the made to order chunky guacamolè aka 'Guac Mexicano' and some grilled seasoned whole jalapeños on the side(aka Torriados) Finally, would also like to highlight that all the food had very clean presentations and you can tell everything is prepped with very very well- also can tell this in the horchata and Jamaica! I have never in my life tried a perfect Jamaica like theirs- it was not bitter or sour or too sweet or too weak; absolutely perfect, please try for yourself! Andre's has a wonderful staff and he and his family are working with delicious recipes, these people are true restauranteurs and know what they're doing!!! I am definitely returning and plan to become a regular! So thankful to find somewhere close to my new home out this way! God bless you/ que Diosito los bendiga!
