This location is at Plaza La Isla. They have an air conditioned place and an open air place around the corner looking at the water. We chose the location looking at the water. It was really cool and relaxing. We came here for lunch and got margaritas and tacos, yum! Service was good and everyone was nice!
Came here for a dinner and got the Tampicarne and churros. Tasty meal, although a little more expensive than what I was expecting. Nice location in the mall area with good ambiance. Service was good.
This is an excellent budget friendly Mexican restaurant with pretty tasty tacos, huge fun drinks, and quick service for very reasonable prices. This restaurant has 3 different dining area - on the water, an outdoor cantina/bar area, and an air conditioned indoor restaurant. The menu is extensive but my favorite is the 8 taco sampler. It gives you pork, chicken, sirloin, and the original. The margaritas are huge with varying flavors. Lunch and drinks was about $40, including tip. And we had a lot of food. It's not fancy dining. It is classic Mexican tacos in a great location with fun vibes.
We came here after enjoying the mall, on our last full day in Cancun. We contemplated going to the Brazilian steakhouse but we ended up here and it was very good. I got a virgin peach margarita and it was very good. I'd prefer salt instead of tajin on the rim but tajin seemed to be the standard everywhere. Husband got a coffee margarita he said it was very good. The staff was very friendly and our food came out quick! It was tasty.
The food is great. I could eat their Cazuela Campechana everyday. If you're a big fan of cheese don't miss out. I've come twice in this trip so far and been served by Daniel both times. Service was great. He was fun and explained a lot of the food we ordered. The location is great right on the water and it's an open air casual bar feel. Everyone I came with was also happy with the drinks. We've been to several spots where they've felt watered down but not here. I will probably be back just about everyday while I'm here
In a very touristy shopping area. Probably one of the better stops you can have. Lots of tequila(margaritas) and mezcal drinks. Food was ok.
Pretty descent food for Mexican tourist food. Of course don't expect authentic Mexican food and Mexican prices. Very nice view and service
We were tired and thirsty by walking for couple of hours at the mall. When we went to this restaurant they immediately greeted us and took us to our table. The restaurant is my the water so had nice view. They were playing 90s pop music and I personally loved the atmosphere! Their service was excellent and very prompt. We ordered a mocktail which was super refreshing! All our items arrived in less than 20 minutes and each item was delicious. Definitely recommend this place
We visited the shopping mall La Isla and found this restaurant near the water. It was right next to La Parilla where we ate two years ago. The vibe is very friendly and laid back. But laid back does not mean inattentive service. We seated ourselves by the water and immediately a waiter appeared. The drink menu is large but he guided us through the mezcals, which the wife ultimately settled upon while I a traditional lime-based margarita. I had a grande which in retrospect is not the right choice because it is very large and by the time you get to the end the ice has melted and the flavor is watered down. Note for next time. You get free chips and salsas to start. There were three different colors of tortilla chips and they were not greasy at all. The salsas go from mango, which is sweet, to red which is spicy but not incendiary, to Serrano which is incendiary. The wife loved the red while the kid and I liked the mango. The Serrano was too hot for us. The menu is huge so it took a while for us to digest it all (no pun intended). We started with shrimp ceviche and it was good but not the best I have had. The shrimp were a bit tough and there were no jalapeños in the pico. It was still good but not outstanding. For entrees, the kid had chicken tenders and they were outstanding. The batter was light and not greasy. The chicken was tender and moist. The fries were crispy. She ate almost everything. The wife had some kind of shrimp dish with garlic sauce and it was exceptionally good. The flavors were intense but not too spicy. She loved it. The shrimp were fresh and did not taste fishy. I had Burria tacos with beef which I never had before. By this point I was already full so I could not eat the 8 quarters. There was a great broth for dipping. The beef seemed like it was brisket or oxtail, it was not ground beef. I really liked the tacos and although I have nothing to compare them to, they seemed really well done. We had churros for dessert and they were very different than what we get in Dallas. These were thinner and denser. You get two dipping sauces, caramel and chocolate. We finished them off and said we would not eat the next day as we waddled out of the restaurant. Our servers were friendly and helpful. Food came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. We had a beautiful view of the sunset and many people were on the pier taking pictures. Overall, it was a really fun experience with great food and service. Next time in Cancun we are returning for sure.
Review for Tacos y Tequila, La Isla Cancun Grabbed a quick late bite at Tacos y Tequila in La Isla Cancun. A great experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. The menu offered a variety of dishes from different regions of Mexico. The tacos were bursting with flavor, each bite delicious. The tortillas, were made fresh right in front of your eyes, and you could truly taste the difference. They were soft, warm, and the perfect vessel for mouth watering fillings. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The restaurant sits right on the water with great views of the lagoon. While it was after dark on this visit, we've seen fantastic sunsets from here. Likewise no tequila on this night, but previous visits found the tequila as good as the tacos. Highly recommended!
My goodness the food and drinks here were fantastic and location is hard to beat. We sat right on the water and had a beautiful meal watching the sunset. Our waiter was great and the prices were fantastic too. Food was awesome best fajitas and refried beans I've ever had! We wanted to keep coming back but had to try other places too. They are located right in the lagoon in the Isla shopping mall. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating available!

Nice location as you enter the mall. Chips and guacamole upsell is perfect to accompany street tacos and margaritas. 5 star service / 4 star meal and margaritas, at a reasonable price.
Well, must say! Food is absolutely amazing. Had some great guacamole and the tacos were very tasty and well made. Had some great chicken al pastor tacos, these were the highlight. Our service was awesome and the ambiance was very relaxed. I must also shout out the cadillac margarita, pretty good as well. Overall the spot was A+ in my book. read more

The resort i was staying in didnt have tacos, so i had to venture out to find them, and i stumbled upon taco y tequila. The vibe here was awesome!! They had a live band who played music, the tortillas were being freshly made by a woman in the window, the meat was on spits on view as well, and they gave us a coupon for a buy one get one margarita! Score!! It was also by the water so the view was outstanding! This place is located in the la isla mall in Cancun, and i had a wonderful time. Our server Danny boy was amazing! Very attentive, he explained everything perfectly and had this energy that was infectious. The drinks were sooooo good and soooo strong! They also was so cheap (i came here with 2 others and the entire meal was $54 American dollars. That was 6 margaritas, two orders of tacos, and my other friend ordered something else. I was shocked! It was a little spicy, but i didn't mind that too much. It didn't take away from the flavor of the meat and the freshly made to order tortillas. If you're in Cancun and by this mall, i highly recommend. It's right across from hooters, and they let you take your drinks to go! Score!! See pics below read more
OMG!!!! THESE PEOPLE!!! THIS PLACE!!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. First of all....DONT ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS. I say that because...THIS is where WE wanted to go. BUT...the hotel (wont say which cause shame shame on them) told us DONT GO THERE. They said its too Americanized and there is better quality at the place next door. Now...thanks to a fellow yelper....he stated the same thing...and because of that one review and knew something was fishy. So we told the concierge OK OK. But told our taxi driver to take us to this place. Now...when we got here...JUAN CARLOS greeted us and the fun begun!!! He is incredible!!! As tourists we wanted (& maybe expected) to be gushed over and treated like fam....but DAMN....THEY DID IT BETTER. Lmao. We ordered. My hubs made note it was my bday (the next day)...and they DEFINITLY MADE ME FEEL IT WAS MY BDAY. ABRAHAM....who is the manager was so amazing!!! We also ended up seeing a show right outside and it was awesome. We left & said see ya when we return back to cancun. BUUUUTTT....SUNDAY (my actual bday *the next day) we really werent finding places that appeased our pallet...so we decided to come back. YUP! ORDERED THE SAME THING TOO. lol They recognized us and were equally as friendly and welcoming as the day before. Although located in a really touristy area, the food at Taco y Tequila was really delicious! I had the Chicken Enchiladas and I really loved the sauce that they were made in. One of my family members had the the Chicken Fajitas and the chicken was made really well. All of us felt really full after our meal and we were planning on coming back a second time, but it rained so we were unable to during our stay. Service was great and the restaurant looks out into the lagoon. read more

Taco y Tequika is located near the water in the outside mall LA Isla. It is across from the Hooters. They are always comfortable full because they are so popular and they have fans in the restaurant and I totally put one directly on me. It took a while for them to get my drink order, the menu is on a QR code, but when they finally did I ordered a delicious Miami Vice which ish a strawberry Margarita and half piña colada. It was so good and refreshing! They give you chips and dips to start. The three dips start from hot to mild. Meh, the chips were burnt. For lunch I had chicken fajitas. Now they cook it on one of those meat spit things you would see at a Middle Eastern schwarma, if you will, with pineapple on each meat; chicken, pork, and steak. I was hoping they didn't give me that meat but real fajita meat...........but they did. With pineapple too. No good. I can understand pork pastor but I didn't enjoy the pineapple in my chicken. The chicken was supposed to come out with melted cheese but i opted out. Way too much cheese My meal came with rice and beans. The beans had a little sprinkling of cheese which was perfect. The corn tortillas were made to order and fantastic! They did have fresh churros and I've cream for dessert but I opted out. I would come back here for a vegetarian lunch and maybe some shrimp. read more

This is our second year coming to Cancun. Last year we found this beautiful corner spot overlooking the bay. Amazing food!!! We were able to come back a couple times before we left. This year when we came back to Cancun we ate here every night of our vacation and thoroughly enjoyed the servers, the location, food and the tequila! We've had tacos, fajitas and nachos. Multiple rounds of each with different meats we were never disappointed! The tequila sampler... exquisite!! We found our favorite tequila! Our servers Enrique, Manuel and JC each with delightful personalities that created to the enjoyment of our meal. read more

We are staying across the street wanted a Mexican meal outside of the resort. Although still in the tourist zone, Taco y Tequila is definitely worth a try. Great waterfront location. Service is great the delicious meals come out quickly. The total cost was the icing on the cake. We may go back tonight to try something different. Definitely recommend this place. read more
If you're a tourist in Cancun's Hotel Zone and are looking for some more authentic Mexican food (as opposed to hotel food), Taco y Tequila is IT. Upon arrival, the staff were very welcoming, seated us at a table, and brought over a fan to keep us cool on a hot day. The colorful, lively, and homey decor of the restaurant mirrored the attitudes of the staff members. At the front of the restaurant, a staff member was hand-pressing tortillas and it was cool to see that everything was fresh and homemade. Our server was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. We ordered the skirt steak tacos with queso and the pineapple chicken tacos. Both were fantastic and very flavorful. Both dishes came with 4 soft tacos and a side of choice. The steak was tender and delicious and the pineapple from the chicken tacos was so so refreshing. Definitely check this place out. read more
Delicious tacos and margaritas! We had the taco sampler and our favorite was the Pibil tacos! Sooo yummy (I'm still drooling thinking about them)! We love the fact that the restaurant faced the water with boats docked nearby. Margaritas (we had the watermelon and the mango...large, of course!) were refreshing and yummy! read more
We decided to go to the Mall and see all the fun shops (12-30-19). For lunch we at Taco y Tequila because it sits right on the water and the scenery is amazing! Be sure to get a table just at the edge so you can enjoy the ocean and the shade at the same time. Because my daughter fell in love with the Taco Platter (she ate it at a different restaurant in the U.S.), we ordered two orders. One order with rice and a little bit of cheese and the other order with extra cheese and bean sauce. BOTH were amazing! The meat was really fresh and juicy. Order the extra cheese if you like cheese. And, the bean sauce is better than the rice (just my opinion)! Maybe you should order both and just have your own opinion Order plenty of bottled water! It is nice and cold and you need to keep hydrated walking around Cancun! Most Sincerely! read more

If you are at the hotel zone in Cancun, you MUST eat here! I had the shrimp with garlic and chile (I forgot the name) and I will come back just to have those shrimp again. Their mango margarita is addicting. I had one there and ordered one to go lol. They use real mango puree to make it and great quality tequila (not like the all inclusive cheap stuff they used at our resort). The sever and busboy were both very attentive and super nice. I will be coming back every time I visit Cancun. Don't make the mistake of going to the neighboring restaurant called the light house! It's a scam! They pull you in offering you free margaritas, lemonade, and guacamole and then they sell you old seafood that will definitely make you sick! Taco y Tequila is the place to be if you want great quality and quantity! read more
I was recommended to come here by some friends who previously visited here during their Cancun Trip. I have to say that it was worth the 200 pesos taxi ride (one way) hahah. FOOD: Excellent. Their tortillas were crispy on the edges, they were my favorite tacos their entire trip. It's definitely a preference, but it was my cherry on top. One of the taco samplers were al pastor with different kinds of protein (shrimp, fish, different kinds of steak, and pork). You'll have to refer back to the menu because I honestly can't remember on the top of my head. The flavor was delicious. The juiciness was there, and so were all the condiments (onions, cilantro, etc). DRINKS: I recommend their micheladas and Fresca margarita. Not a heavy alcohol flavor, fresh taste of strawberry rather than artificial, and large portions. SERVICE: The hospitality in Mexico overall is outstanding. They really want your business and sells you on coming back again. The location was very clean, I didn't question their integrity here. The only downside was having to ask for the bill several times and refill on drinks. I'm sure it was busy, but it was something that I noticed while there. read more

Found this place via Yelp. It's located right behind the AquaWorld business in the mall, so just park in the garage or ride the bus to the mall and you will find it easy. It's patio faces the lagoon so the sunsets are amazing to watch from the restaurant. Which in itself was pretty cool while sipping on margaritas. The margaritas are for sure big girl drinks, meaning you will get a buzz off one. We had the guacamole, pastor tacos and skirt steak tacos. All were really good. Servers spoke both Spanish and English (wish I could) and were attentive. read more
Decent place! Located within the mall right by the water. Awesome selection of margaritas which they serve in huge glasses. We went for mango and cucumber and mint and we loved both, very interesting twist. They have about 20 different flavors. For food I ordered chicken tacos which were not big but also it was like 6 bucks so can't complain. Done on a homemade tortillas that they make right there inside next to tables. We came here while vacationing in Cancun. Most of the people in our party ordered the taco platters. We had chicken, sirloin and pork. The sirloin tacos were great. These tacos are on the smaller side (street tacos) but filling. I also ordered rice and beans on the side. The employees were all friendly and if you use a credit card they bring the card reader to the table. The fajitas did not come out sizzling to your table and the taste was ok. The guacamole was bland. I like lots of flavor with cilantro and red onion but to be honest I think it was just a smashed up avocado. read more

Located at Isla Mall. Received great service. The tacos were great. Try the sampler so you know what you like. But the pork or beef tacos were delicious. They give you a hefty amount of free nachos and salsa while waiting for your food. The desserts were good. Great place for big family and with kids. read more

During our vacation to Cancun we visited Taco y Tequila twice because we wanted to try multiple items from the menu. Our first trip we had the Mar y Tierra sampler which was delicious. Other entrees included the Campechano, sirloin and chicken tacos. All were quite tasty and authentic. On our second trip we had the pork pibil and the flank steak. The sampler included the shrimp and fish tacos. Again no disappointment. The ceviche was absolutely delicious - fresh and scrumptious. For drinks we tried two margaritas - fresa and mango. Both were delicious though a tad heavy on the tequila. We also had a virgin pina colada that was made perfectly. Service was attentive and friendly. Lastly the restaurant overlooked the water and the sunsets there were gorgeous. read more

In the one week we vacationed in Cancun, we went to Taco y Tequila x 4 times and each time we were greeted with open arms, warm hearts and plenty of Tacos and Tequila! The name is what it advertises. The tacos are authentic with freshly handmade tortillas and pastor meat of different varieties on skewers as you walk up. The drinks are delicious! Of course the mango margarita was my favorite, not overly sweet and very refreshing. The chamoy was by far my favorite from the places we ate out. Sweet and spicy and a thicker consistency so it doesn't slide off the rim. We celebrated a friends birthday and made sure the waiters were aware, they gifted the table with a few rounds of tequila shots and some happy birthday songs with live music (which they have on weekends!!) Carlos was our waiter 3 times. He made the experience worthwhile, joked around with us each night we were there. A very lively and fun experience. I definitely recommend the pastor pibil tacos (technique where the pork meet is cooked underground) Delicious!!! And try to go on a weekend with live music! and when it's closer to sunset so you can enjoy it overlooking the lagoon. read more

The mere fact that I cancelled reservations at a high-end restaurant on my birthday to come here instead, says a lot. I literally could not get enough of their tacos. Holy moly were they good! We tried every single one on the menu. The plate couldn't even fit them all and they had to bring an extra plate for the rest. The first time we came here, they loaded them with cheese. I think the cheese made them very heavy and honestly, they took a little away from the taste. So, when we came for my birthday tacos, we had them leave the cheese off. They tasted so much better that time. Their Margaritas were just as good, and they have a few of their own house specialties. If you like the spicy ones, then order their Habanero. It's not as spicy as you think it would be but had just enough kick to it. Some of the other ones were just too sweet for my liking. Taco Tequila is located right on the board walk and has plenty of outdoor seating. It's primarily outdoors anyways with a little area that is covered. In short, do not, I repeat, DO NOT pass this place up!! read more
Dined here 5 times over 2 months. Food is consistent, margaritas are excellent and service is impeccable. On a Saturday we arrived at 12 noon and the restaurant was immaculate. Our server Latissa was friendly and attentive. She is the nicest server that we're experienced in our Mexican travels. The taco y tequila salad is hearty, I've topped it off with steak, pastor and chicken. The guacamole is 120 pesos and excellent and fresh. The view on the lagoon especially at sunset is spectacular. I highly recommend this place for its value, consistency in food and service and top notch margaritas. It's fun and special to watch the tortilla maker prepare the tortilla chips and tortilla shells. read more

We came to Cancun last year and happened upon this restaurant and made it a priority to go this year when we came back. The chicken tacos are PHENOMENAL and the service is amazing. Taco y Tequila has become our tradition every time we visit Cancún. Our stay in Cancún is usually seven days and we can never go wrong eating here several times during our stay. The tacos are flavorful and a variety to choose from. If you have the time and just want to enjoy simple food (tacos) and take in the fun atmosphere, this place is a must. We usually order an appetizer and a margarita for starters. Then we'll have another margarita maybe have a shot or two. (*Tip-Ask for chilled tequila, it goes down smooth). When we order shot(s) we also ask for a chaser called sangrita (best way to describe the flavor of the sangrita is the taste of a Bloody Mary without the vodka). You bite the lime, take the shot, then the chaser. PERFECT, SMOOTH, & DELICIOUS! Take your time ordering tacos my suggestion is order a few at a time. During the evenings on the weekends they usually have live music don't forget to tip the musician they truly appreciate anything. Now comes the reason for this review, hands down a fun time and even more when you interact with you server(s). Buy them a shot or two and just let loose. I can go on and on with my review but the best way to put it is you get what you give in terms of fun. read more
We were pretty excited to check this place out. With no legit Mexican restaurants around our hotel, we decided to come here and have a look for ourselves. It's conveniently located at La Isla Cancun Shopping Village on the harbor, next to Hooters. Right next to the hostess, you can observe a lady making fresh corn tortillas! That's definitely cool to see. The service is pretty quick and friendly. If you have any questions about the menu, the waiters are more than delighted to walk you through it. We started off with an order of guacamole and I enjoyed it. I like how it came with pico de gallo to give the guacamole some texture. The guacamole itself was tasty and had just the right amount of lime and salt. When you come here, you have to get tacos right? It's their namesake after all. I would definitely suggest getting a taco sampler platter. It's the best bang for your buck and you get 7 tacos. Sure, there may be some tacos on the platter that you probably won't like but you get to try a variety. If you pick and choose 7 tacos on its own, the price will easily surpass the sampler. We got an al pastor sampler as well as the sirloin pastor taco platter. If you asked me which one I liked better, I'd probably say the al pastor sampler because of the options. The tacos tasted great and the meats were packed with flavor. I wish there was an option to pick 7 of your own tacos though. I didn't know people ate cactus... I definitely didn't. Taco y Tequila is a great spot for Mexican food located right on the harbor and inside the gorgeous shopping village. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

The tacos were great! Highly recommend getting the platter of different tacos. It's a lot of food so come hungry! The margaritas are great too! The staff were also willing to turn on the Army vs Navy football game for us too! read more
