This is a review of the Tacoma Rainiers Summit Club. WTF is Summit Club, you ask? Summer club is the season ticket package. It's pricey but it comes with free beer, wine and ballpark snacks. How many beers? As many as you'd like, but only two at a time. It also includes free parking. I love summit club. There a a few spots to grab beers and snacks, but the best place is on the third floor. That's were you can grab your water and sodas too. The spot on the second floor overlooks the home plate, and seating there is first come first served. The seats: Summit club seats are pretty legit. You get seats really close to the action. Ballpark food: The vendors in the stadium are okay. It's your traditional ballpark food. You have to pay for the food. What are the free ballpark snacks? Pretzels, popcorn and peanuts. But I'm vege: There's not a lot of vege options. There is a vege burger, it's not bad. The cheese pizza is massive and us okay. They used to have a vege dog that was to die for, but that vendor left. I'm super bummed this year about that. The drinks: There are lots of different local microbrews both in cans and on tap. They only have one cider, which is my loves goto beverage. Last weekend they ran out of cider and told me that they were no longer going to carry it. I was filled with panic. I asked the VP of sales who assures me that there will be cider again, so fingers crossed. They have the usual wine and soda varieties. And unlimited bottled water, my favourite! Pro tip: There is a song and dance during the 7th inning. That's last call for alcohol. Get your butt to the bar as soon as you hear that song start, because when it's over, no more beersies for you. read more

Actually, super-fun, like going to a small town baseball game. The players are young and excited. You can park close (not too close - couple cars got clobbered by fly balls!) Every seat is a good seat. You hear the balls smack the catchers mitt and the crack of the bat. They run goofy promotions throughout the game. Cheap enough you can afford to take the family and buy everyone a hot dog. Safer neighborhood than the Seattle Mariners. Didn't have to worry walking out to the parking lot after the game. Genuinely way more bang for the buck when it comes to watching baseball. read more

This is old time baseball. The stadium is small and actually could be called intimate. It's like the way baseball used to be played which is nice. They remodeled a few years ago and it made a huge difference; however, I took away stars because the food there is absolutely awful. A group of us purchased a package that included a ticket, hat and a hot dog and chips. Went to get that hot dog and it was cold. Kept asking for a warm one and they never could find one. Pretty sad. Then a year later a group of us rented a BBQ area for a party. The food was marginally better but when we went out to the concession stand for something else, it was horrible. They need to tell the people who do the food that cold food is unacceptable. I would say the stadium and the facilities get four stars, the food gets two, ergo a three star rating seemed appropriate. read more

Decided to see these guys since the Mariners were away. We happened to come on a night where there were fireworks. So parking was a bit more challenging than usual and we arrived late to the game. We stopped to eat dinner on the way to the game and this was by far the smartest decision we made. We arrived in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The game itself was nice and a close one so we were engaged. Our seats were behind home plate in Section H there was limited leg room which was fine for me because I'm short but my friend's BF was 6ft and had to sit sideways a bit. We appreciated the netting all around the fence there are always foul balls and this netting goes a little higher than most ballparks. We did not get any food while we were there, but did see some of it walk by us and it didn't seem that impressive. We smelled what I believe was garlic fries and the smell was overpowering (not in a good way). The fireworks after the game were a nice treat. I have seen a lot of minor league baseball games and believe this is a nice treat if you're in the area. read more

AAA baseball is a blast! Way cheaper than a Mariner game and not a bad seat in the house. It's exciting to see the future kids, and you also have the potential of seeing a big leaguer coming off the DL. Pro - They have Kidd Valley burgers and Beecher's Cheese as their concession options...you don't have to venture all the way to Seattle to try them out. Parking is $5. Their mascot is Rhubarb the Reindeer. Con - Food and beer prices are the same as the big league parks....so is their team store. I will say their old school Rainier beer logo is sweet so be prepared to buy something! Will be back for next season :) read more

I'd be happy with this place if not for one thing: The bartender that works in the middle of the stadium. This lady hates her job and she hates you! We've come here several times in the last few months. Twice we ponied up for the expensive Summit Club tickets which entitle you to bar service at a few select spots. My favorite spot to watch the game is behind homeplate where there is an open viewing area that looks through the stadium. We've been here twice now and this lady is flat out rude to everyone. Not just us. EVERYONE. We tip. Are polite. Not rowdy. And are in good spirits. This lady hates you. read more

Minor leagues seems so much better than the majors and the player sure do bring it to every game. I have visited the park 3 times and all I can say is the culture of the games is truely family friendly. The deals you find on tickets are great and the give aways (hats & shirts) have been great, plus people actually wear them to the games. Still waiting to catch a ball, maybe next time. Love going to Rainier games. The games are very affordable. It's a great deal and easy for families. I love the Red Hot Hot dogs!!! Love them! The Mascot is great and runs around. The overall experience is pleasant. The only complaint I have is the parking lot. Is it really necessary to have so many compact parking spaces. Came to game for First Responders Appreciation Night. Sat at Party deck area where we enjoyed peanuts, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, macaroni salad, grapes, beer and wine. Food was great EXCEPT for very stale popcorn. Weather had been light drizzle all day which continued during game. In fifth inning the Heavens opened up and a true torrential downpour got the game cancelled. Too bad as it was a great game. I believe they allow you to return for another game with free ticket. Though not as flashy as Safeco Field, Cheney Stadium has a lot going for it. For those not particularly concerned with seeing the big name players of the MLB teams, Tacoma's Rainiers and their AAA opponents always put on a good ballgame. The best part, though, is that these games can be enjoyed (when the weather cooperates) in their recently remodeled outdoor facility, which is located in the center of the city right next to Hwy 16. The stadium can pack in a ton of fans, but it's still small enough that there isn't really a bad seat in the house. From one side, you can even seen Mt. Rainier looming on the horizon on a clear day. Compared to Seattle, the parking here is much easier (also free, if you're willing to walk a bit) and everything from game tickets to concessions and beer cost a bit less. Even though I still think charging $8 for a beer is outrageous, it's better than the $9.75 they charged me the last time I went to Safeco. Cheney has a pretty good selection of comestibles (Ivars and Kidd Valley, in additon to the standard hot dogs and peanuts) and beers (including a few from Tacoma's own Harmon Brewery!) to choose from. Weekly promotions such as 'Thirsty Thursday' and 'Friday Night Fireworks' help keep things fun, too. On my most recent visit here, The Human Society (along with several other organizations) was sponsoring "K-9 Innings"; a fantastic promotion that allowed fans to bring their dogs into the park for the game. We have not been here for while but our Grandsons group was going and we went with them. The new stadium is nice - good seats - close to the field and overall a great place to enjoy a game. I can't believe they left the single lane as the way to come in - traffic gets backed up. However - perhaps we have been spoiled by big league baseball but the experience here lacks some things we are use to enjoying. First of all the food. We ate the "best hot dog in the leagues" from Kidd Valley and it was the worse hot dog I have had - about as cheap as you can get and I grew up in New York. Combine that with 10 years in Chicago - I have had many many quality hot dogs - this was on the bottom. We also found their food selection limited - no ice cream for one thing let alone some of the fun items such as chocolate covered strawberries, etc.. HOWEVER - it is not cheap. What happened to the peanut vendor going up and down the aisles? No one was selling anything within the park - only at the vendors. Also - I don't know if it is a lower league thing - but it was the slowest game I have ever seen. I realize at the major league you have TV commercials and thus the breaks but what goes here. I though when the teams change fielding within a inning - they just go on out. Nope - there is a long break each time. The pitchers took forever to throw and 4 hours for a 3 to 2 game seems like a long time. All the kids lost interest and by the 8th inning - at least 1/2 the fans had left. read more

While they may not always win, they are a lot if fun to watch! The team seems to have a very crowd-friendly attitude. There are many opportunities for crowd participation at the games, including the family area with grass where the kids can run around (and not kick my seat or the back of head the entire game). We've been to a few games now and always enjoy ourself. They have cheap tickets, ample seating, and good beer. The team has multiple deals and events. This weekend is Throwback weekend with vintage team apparel, 80s music, and $2 beer. It's hard to beat that kind of a deal! Also, I just love Rhubarb and the honey bear is pretty funny. read more

We've been to a few games this season, and I love coming here! This is a very family friendly environment. We've purchased a few group sales tickets, and the lady that is in charge of all of that is VERY helpful. I still think that the announcer sucks, he just does not get the crowd excited, and doesn't really say what is going on enough, he just does not seem like he really likes his job, or possibly he has a strict script, and limited air time; regardless, I don't like it, it just seems to be lacking in interacting with the fans. One thing that did bother me, was that we had to clean bird poop off of our seats once, and it was old, it had been there a while, someone really should check the very top seats (right behind home plate), for bird poop before the game starts. Other than that, I think that they maintain the place very well (aside from the bird doo). This is my favorite place to take my family to, it's just been great coming here this season, surrounded by very friendly people! read more

AAA baseball is about as good as it gets. Near-pro skill, but without the cost. A game for two adults costs less than $50 with beer and garlic fries. For about the cost of a movie you get to see up-an-coming talent while enjoying a cold beer. And you can talk, get up, and all around just enjoy an experience. The Rainiers play well, and the crowd cheers them on. It's a really good time with a good team. read more

Bullpen Party Deck is the spot with a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier. Friday nights always have fireworks, back your car in for easy exit, get your garlic fries at the furthest food stand called Kidd Valley, they also serve burgers and shakes. They'll gladly add extra garlic at no charge and the fries are only $7. read more

Seems like the players try too hard to entertain the crowd. Game was okay though. The food was another story. The hot dogs were a joke. Seemed like very cheap quality and tasting at a premium price.
